Harrison is back on track after winning the Cobb County title over the weekend. The Hoyas had to battle with North Cobb and just edged the Warriors in three sets (26-24, 25-27, 17-15).

A county title is just what the Hoyas needed to gain some midseason momentum and it showed Tuesday as they swept Pebblebrook (25-5, 25-7), South Cobb (25-7, 25-4) and McEachern (25-7, 25-16) in dominating fashion.

Pope, which has been battling injuries, reached the semifinals before being ousted by Harrison and the Greyhounds’ bid to win the tournament for a sixth straight year fell short.

Buford won the Gwinnett County championship over the weekend as the Wolves battled past Greater Atlanta Christian, Wesleyan and North Gwinnett to win the championship.

Walton competed in the Tampa Berkeley Prep Premier tournament in Florida over the weekend and Celeste Fitzgerald was named to the all-tournament team after a great effort from the sophomore captain and her strong supporting cast. Fitzgerald has 707 assists in 64 played sets this season. Walton only fell short to host Berkeley, which ended the tournament as runner-up.

Greater Atlanta Christian fell short to Buford, but had a strong weekend with wins over Archer, Brookwood, Berkmar, Parkview and Shiloh. … Hart County has found success this season and senior captain Ashton Stewart has 240 kills in 51 sets played. The 6-foot-2 senior had 33 kills in Hart County’s wins over Flowery Branch and Winder-Barrow on Tuesday. … East Coweta junior Jessica Bartholomew has recorded 376 kills in 71 sets played this season. … The inaugural Southern Invitational Volleyball Championship takes place Saturday as Walton, Sandy Creek, Roswell and Chattahoochee will represent Georgia in a field made up of teams from Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee.
