Class AAA roundup

By Score Atlanta

Buford 63, Hancock Central 0: Hancock Central completed a 68-yard pass on the first play from scrimmage, but that was basically all the visitors could muster. Montgomery VanGorder and Tre’ Neal each threw a touchdown pass, and Evyn Cooper returned a Hancock Central punt for a touchdown for the Wolves.

Cartersville 41, Rockmart 0: Visiting Cartersville scored on its first offensive possession with a 41-yard Brandon Long touchdown. Long added another touchdown in the opening quarter with a 68-yard run. Decatur 14, Greenville 7: At Greenville’s Coverson Stadium, fullback Nick Bentley spurted four yards untouched through a gaping left-side opening with 4:01 left to give Decatur its victory. Bentley’s touchdown culminated a 16-play, 68-yard drive that took 7:39 off the clock. He finished with 85 yards rushing on 16 carries (47 yards alone on that single drive) while teammate Elijah Rachell had a career-high 101 yards on 15 carries. Linebacker Kyle Kitchens had 10 tackles, one assist and created a critical Greenville fumble loss with 1:29 left. Greenville falls to 0-3 while Decatur has its first 3-0 start since 2005.

Jackson defensive end Jakori Duffy had 12 total tackles, four of them for loss, and caused three fumbles, recovering one.

St. Pius 41, Thomson 14: The backfield tandem of Joey Connors and Dalton Wilson each scored twice on the ground for St. Pius. Running back Dalton Wilson led St. Pius with 82 rushing yards and scored on runs of two and 12 yards, while Connors scored on carries from nine and five yards. Connors also threw for 56 yards.

Towers 26, Clarkston 7: Daemyon Hassell scored two touchdowns to lead the host Titans. Hassell opened the scoring with a 60-yard catch-and-run to put Towers on top 6-0 at the half. Clarkston got a late 10-yard touchdown pass by Jordan Douglass to Treyvon Odom.

Woodward Academy 34, Woodland-Henry 0: Woodward Academy running back Quincy Wolff rushed three times for 109 yards with touchdown runs of 36 and 65 yards. Buford plays a team that only like 20 miles from WACO and we haven’t played them since the 90’s… I mean if you want to play a Middle GA team play a real one at least….

Please…. Buford played in AA when they looked like a AAA or AAAA team, now with the realignment they play in AAA which is just an extended AA.. Your players are always going to be bigger than public school kids per kid, so all you do is run a power run game and let your over size Ol tee off on smaller Defenses… I Doubt I could be proud of that as a true football fan. Its like UGA playing Georgia St and yelling we the best in the state.. Like I said before name one top football recruit from Buford in the past 4 yrs that’s making big noise on their D1 team….

You’re not very intelligent to choose that as your argument. Without looking it up, Omar Hunter played as a true freshman at UF and was a 3 yr starter, signed as a free agent with the Steelers, at one point last year Cody Getz was leading the nation in rushing and finished up the yr over 1200 yds, half of UGA’s starting O-Line is from Buford, should I go on?? I guess we should also ignore the fact that they just beat the defending AAAAA State Champion like a drum and held the Number 1 QB in the nation to less than 200 yds? Son of Waco, come on dog.

Son of Waco has been whining for years and wishing they had a class act like Buford. I have listened for years about NG and now they finally have something to say. Oh,by the way NG is a county school.

Any school that runs up the score to 63 points is not a class school. Shameless rubes.

Son of Waco I’m sure you speak about the same as you write. In other words SHUT UP until you can master the ENGLISH language. I’m sure the teachers in Washington County/Sandersville cringe when they see your comments as well as your fellow former classmates.

@sonofwaco…call up and schedule that big mouth of yours, it’s my understanding from out on the street, Buford is having difficulty getting folks to come out for that playdate. btw do you have any eligibility left to back up that big mouth?

When someone attacks my grammar, it always let me know they have no facts to debate with me…I guess Buford fans don’t watch UGA football on Saturdays because you wouldn’t want to let everyone know yall got two former players on that O- line.. We (UGA) lost to Clemson because of that line and many thought we was going to lose to SC for the same reason…@Ladyluckjc I asked a question and as a Buford fan you would follow your former star players progression in college more than an outsider would… @Anti How would you know a team don’t want to play your program??? Most games come from a relationship coaches make with each other in the off season, that’s how Lovett and ELCA got on our schedule for the first time last year… But keep believing top programs in Middle GA are scared of the big bad wolf…

Call and lets make a home and home. Washington County talking smack…..FOR WHAT? Do you thang, maybe we will meet in the playoffs. Then what? Your gonna get smack around, would love to travel to “The “NOT SO” House of PAIN! You’ve ran you mouth over the last few weeks about BUFORD and I gave you a list of BUFORD players who have made a name in D1 ball, past and current players. That starting OL at UGA is not the issue BOY…..you don’t put up 35 and 41 points and call that an OFFENSIVE issue. Are you stupid? Any team in D1 ball puts up that many points they should win….the problem at UGA is the DEFENSE….they are young and gave up 38 and 30 points….I’ll do the math for ya……UGA AVERAGES 38 points but gives up an average of 34 points. Boy if you didn’t know………DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Now do me a favor, get out there and learn some football, quit spilling your stupidity and go post some locker room material for your little GOLDEN CROWS and make it deep enough to face the Mighty Wolves of BUFORD.

Son of WACO…have your AD call up our AD Coach Woods and ask to schedule a game. POOMAN gave you the info. We have a tough time scheduling out of region games. Would love to shut you up. By the way, our job is not to supply colleges with football players though we do a great job of that.

Why hosannas to Buford? When kids move into your district from all over creation, or parents pay
cheap tuition for athletes to attend, of course you are going to build a powerhouse. They have great facilities, but they have no attendance boundaries. Good players move in, drive in. Why is that laudable? Milton did in basketball, Miller Grove does it in basketball. Just be honest, Buford. Be honest. You guys can’t even admit it there is not a level playing field….delusional.

@ Rags: all of the top programs in the state have one thing in common – families who think their child might have the talent to play at the next level will move into the districts, or pay for their kids to attend the best programs in hopes of their kid getting into college on scholarship…….its a fact – the best programs attract attention and have to do NOTHING to get kids onto their teams……..does this give Buford an advantage? – of course it does, but that is not Buford’s fault……Buford doesn’t pay for these kids to attend, their parents do at their own free will, and recruiting per se is illegal by GHSA rules…….suck it up, Rags / Son Of Waco, if your teams are tough enough, they can match up with Buford in the playoffs – but only if they pass the likes of St. Pius, Cartersville, and a few others……..

Buford alum Buford parents don,t treat children in their in their family the same. Just ask the qb mom & dad . one goes to hall county school and one goes to Gwinnett. The parents say they send them to the best schools. What a shame. poor little Brother.
