Predictions: North Gwinnett, Colquitt County to survive Classic top-10 matchups

Five of the top 10 teams in Class AAAAAA will kick off the season at the Corky Kell Classic on Saturday. Two of the games will match ranked teams – No. 4 North Gwinnett vs. No. 5 Camden County and No. 2 Colquitt County vs. No. 10 Grayson – and sixth-ranked McEachern will close out the five-game event against perennial power Brookwood. Expect Gwinnett County to earn a split in the top 10 matchups (North Gwinnett over Camden, Colquitt County over Grayson) and McEachern to handle Brookwood.

Figure out your school site issues before you hurt these kids.

And leave championship issues to the champions.

Here we go…. Colquitt lost many key players but will handle Grayson. Grayson had their run and now oh well… camden has lost their coach and most of their backfield and probably will loose this game. Glad to be back for some football…….Where’s the power??? Norcross will be playing #7 in the nation and 2 in the state. Washingon.of Miami. maybe they will do to them what Grayson did to Central Miami last year 35-3. We’ll see if Florida’s so called elete national teams will match up?

RE:ACU@1245PM, yes, one would think an internal shelter large enough to hold all the students would almost double the price of the school. Besides they are wanting to build it straight up, like 4 stories, rather than spread out. Not smart! Plus additional ventilation, cooling, heating space for the shelter. Sounds like one of those deal where the process was done in reverse, and the taxpayers of Colquitt Co. will be stuck with the huge costs. One only has to recall what happened about 10 yrs. ago at Graniteville, near Augusta to know what can happen with chemicals on a train. That little town was almost decimated.

Oh yea Grayson is #2236 ranking in nation, (max prep), and a dismal # 89 in the state. Again I know ranking and especially this early and from (max prep) is totally guess work.

Camden is goin to be just fine…don’t let anyone trying to tell you any diff fool you into buying that hogwash. They may take a step back this year but a small step. I think Lowndes has a better team than Camden does this year but we have to go play them at Camden and that gives them an edge. We will see.

@battleaxe kid – “Colquitt lost many key players but will handle Grayson. Grayson had their run and now oh well.” So it is okay for Colquitt to lose players and adjust but not Grayson? And we’ve had our run? We may well lose to the Packers as we did have to replace a lot but those “new” players got reps last year and also won 9th and JV titles. Anyone that takes us lightly does so at their own risk. Over the past 5 years we are 60-8 with 4 region titles and a state championship. I’ll be as surprised as anyone if we go 15-0 but I fully expect us to be in the hunt at the end. Grayson has really developed a program and not a single or two season flash in the pan here and gone team. I personally wish we had one more week of practice but like your region 1 fans like to say, the first games don’t really count. It is only when we get to region that it matters. While we get to region play much earlier than R1, I think we will be good.

I am soooo glad football is back! :-)

@Sportsnut and Camden74 – Guys, you *know* GA football gets no respect on the national level! If BTW is like Central was last year, Norcross will flat roll them! Central had a ton of good athletes but they didn’t play as a team. Norcross is a team and should walk all over BTW.

@ All == This just goes to show that those in charge of such things have their favorites. There are athletes everywhere but if this is what they (prognosticators) call a match-up of Top 20, surely Georgia must have #1, #3-17, 18, 19 and 20 !!

Myron Burton, #3 from Peachtree Ridge is for real. He scored the 2 touchdowns on Lovejoy in the scrimmage and now he is doing his thing on the big stage. Good for him.
