Maxwell Ratings: Projected margins of victory for Week 1 games

Here is this week’s schedule with projected margins of victory courtesy of the Maxwell Ratings. The projected winner is on the left. The projected margin of victory is on the right. The Maxwell computer ratings take into account historical scores, weighing the more recent seasons the most heavily. Games involving out-of-state teams are not included because of lack of data on those opponents.

In addition, Maxwell this season has added a feature that pinpoints the top games in each classification.

Below is the Game of the Week plus the key games for each classification as mathematically identified by the Maxwell ratings.

Each game is rated according to (1) each team’s dominance over its respective classification and (2) the difference in the ratings between the two teams. The rating is then converted from zero to five stars in quarter star increments. All games with 4.00 stars or better are shown.

I’m still trying to figure out what makes North Gwinnett so special. But, I guess I’ll find out on Saturday. I know they have a pretty good defense, they’re fast, quick and sure tacklers. But, what makes them better than the rest of the top 6A teams? I’m expecting a good game on Saturday. RELEASE the CATS!!!! :-D

I can give you an idea what makes them so special because I coached in the feeder league for 8 yrs and my son played for them 4 years .First thing is Coaching. Coach Sphire runs the program like a pro team. Its high tempo in practice thats carries over to games with a spread offensive philosophy. His thinking is he can run one play with 5 different routes and someone will always be open even if he runs that one play 4 or 5 times in a row, Second thing is defense. Its a 3-5 with them blitzing one or two at all times. It will give up a big play from time to time but mostly they make big plays.Third thing is players. Its a high density area that gives them a pretty big pool of players even after the split to Lanier. Also they get transfers every year because kids want to play there i.e CJ Leggett this year. Lastly the gwinnett feeder league is the best I have ever seen. The parks where same uniforms as their correseponding school and they start running same offense/defense around 10-11 yrs old. Now I am not saying they are the best and will beat anyone or any of that blind loyalty crap etc I am just saying what makes them special from my point of view. Now tell me what makes Camden special

Grayson played Gainesville last week in a scrimmage . I know it was just a practice game but i was hoping to see a lot more from that program . Colquitt county will beat the breaks off of Grayson !!
