No joke the Tucker Tigers are great this season!! Not good but great!! Returning 8 starters on defense on a UGA commit at LB and a Stanford commit at safety! Plus 3 more ranked players who will be signing with a big D1 college! You are hearing it now Tucker will be GREAT this year

What’s interesting in these stats, if you are a believer in computer ratings, region 6 & region 8 has mostly the same SOS numbers and they will matchup in the FIRST round of this year’s playoff. Could this matchup open the door for surprises to the 5A Championship? Also, the #1 rated team in 5A, has a SOS number lower than ALL teams in region 6 – Clarkston does not play a region schedule. Could this be something to consider in November? “Just food for thought…”

@BcS2010 – You are right about our “D”, but the “O” will be just as exciting and of course explosive. Another traditional Tiger year with a backfield filled with race horses, a very nice receiving core, a OL that is big and quick, along with a QB that can throw it up and down the field, better arm than last year’s super athlete, now a Duck. Can’t wait to witness the 2013, version of another POWERHOUSE Tucker Tiger team. This is getting to be an annual traditional! (LOL)

Who is the quarterback at Tucker this year. Last years qb will b tough to replace. Not because of his arm but because of his leadership.

I can’t believe Northside is ranked above Gainesville and Tucker. Northside will get a good test against the high-powered Peach County offense on Friday.

@rwdekalb – Tuckers QB, I don’t like using kids names in forms like this, but he was the backup QB and one of MANY RB’s in Tucker’s arsenal last year. Kid came to Tucker, last year, from Dunwoody, where he led them at QB/RB as a Soph. Kid has the leadership qualities since a youth football player at Tucker’s youth feeder program. In many cases, last year, he was substituted in the QB role, while the starting QB would play WR and they had numerous hookups. Tucker Nation feels comfortable with him in this most important leadership position.

@Northside Dawg – Honestly, I can believe NSWR is raked above those mention teams. One thing the computer ratings take in a count, – “A teams past performance and history”, see the class 6A write up, tells more about Maxwell’s use of data. NSWR has been a POWERHSOUSE in GA HS football for MANY years. The question, as I mention in my earlier post – Will SOS be something to consider for the Eagles in November? The brutal schedule, that region 6 team’s face, every Friday Night, should pay dividends down the road. Team in region 6, will be looking at 5 teams in the TOP 20 and 3 in the TOP 5, preseason stats. We’ll need to see the regular season ending numbers, because we in region 6 have a lot of work ahead of us!!!

Coffee is going to get quite a test their first two weeks from #8 Ware and # 11 Whitewater. The Trojans follow up with 4A Burke Co. on week 3. Burke is bringing back a monster offense this year and is probably going to be ranked high. Coffee has the second highest strength of schedule in the entire state, right behind Colquitt. If the Trojans can win out against these three on consecutive weeks they should move into Region 1-6A feeling reasonably confident about a better showing in conference play this year. As a side note, Coach Pruitt, (Thought by most of his peers to be THE authority on the Wing-T), is going to run a no-huddle spread this year based on Clemsons D-1 offense. It should be a blast to watch and it going to be anything but boring. Let’s play football!!!

Yeah, I wish they could shift Northside and Warner Robins into 6-5A. I’ve heard we may get back into 1-6A in the not too distant future. It can’t come soon enough.

@ Lion’s Den- i agree with you 100%!! TUCKER new QB may be pretty nice and off the record they have a team full of talent just like STEPHENSON, “BUUTTTTT” who said we not gonna come prepared with a lil heavy artillery ourself?? Last yr’s highlight of TUCKER was their two star RB’S YUSOF MINOR AND DALLAS RIVERS and BOW!! just like that 24-17 MLK defeats TUCKER!! And then they mention a QB?? A Qb is only most effective when he passes!! Being that TUCKER is not a passing team and the QB is a backup RB from last yr, sounds like theirs nothing to worry about!!
This yr MLK will be balanced and when your balanced your unpredictable and when your unpredictable you when championships!! WORD TO THE WISE, MLK IS ON THE RISE!!!!

Hey…NO PROBLEM! Would LOVE to see PC getting on the winning track, I always pull for all our Paulding County teams to win…except of course when they play our RAIDERS! So OK, let’s give them wins against New Manchester, Lithia Springs, & Woodland / Bartow…that’s 3 / 7…Not 6 / 4 or 7 / 3!!!

Let’s say PC has improved…A LOT…can they beat HIRAM? It’s a PC home game, how about SOUTH PAULDING? another PC home game, they got ROME as another PC home game…maybe?…they got NORTH PAULDING & ALLATOONA as away games…I don’t see them beating either of those teams especially at their fields. they also have VILLA RICA at PC…another maybe?? and then of course they have our RAIDERS as a home game. OK so we are giving them a 3 / 7 and with a bit of luck MAYBE a 5 / 5…that would be a good start and a nice turn around if they can pull this off! GOOD LUCK!!!

But in the mean time…

WELL…WELL…WELL, I see we are hearing from the big time bloggers of 5A, it must be HS FOOTBALL time – can I get an AMEN! (LOL) Welcome everyone back to another year of chest beating and hopeful dreams. We’ve heard from some of the best 5A supports – (Tucker, MLK, NSWR, East Paulding, and Kell). What’s surprising is that we haven’t heard from the following supporters:

Stephenson – the GA HS D1 football factory
Mays – kings of the southwest side (known as the HILL)
Gainesville – 2012 5A champs and who have possibly the best player in 5A
Allatoona – who took down last year’s region 6 champs and an up and coming player in the game
Warner Robins – who could be tired of playing second to the other Warner Robins team

Good luck to all and hope everyone stays healthy

O’, as usual I must agree with BcS2010 – Tucker wins region 6 and brings another state championship back to the DEN.

@5AREG6FAN…. I’m here. Just waiting checkout team in the scrimmage before I opine on this year success. We were very close going 10-0/ 9-1 last year, this year hopefully Coach Corey make 3 to 4 game difference. Take Mays back one top two teams in Reg 6. As far your QB Joe…. that kid has been waiting on this moment. He came back home to get ship!

Mighty Red Elephant fan here. There has been some suggestion that gville cake walked to the title, mostly because we didn’t have to play any dekalb schools or nswr. We did win three playoff games on the road in our first season moving from aaa to aaaaa.

Truth is gainesvilles offense is unstoppable. Even in our three losses last year we scored 30, 41 and 34 points. Over the course of a full game the only thing that truly stops our offense are penalties and turnovers. All about the defense. Last year they woke up in the second half of the Kell game and played lights out to the title.

Regions 6 and 8 are going to clash in the playoffs this year. 6 has strong defenses, gainesville prolly has the best offense in the state ( I hear ya nor cross and creek!). Can’t wait!

@ THE CANNON RULES
How about your boys last night? Fell to the mighty Indians again did they? (Waiting for excuses)
You get your pants all in a bunch anytime anyone says anything about another Paulding County team, but you claim to support all of them.. What a crock!
Nothing was said about East in the post about PC, stop being such a troll.
East is over with, done, kaput.. Only due to a weak schedule will they be in the running for the region, I see them falling to Toona, they will most defiantly be out coached that night. Also it would not surprise me at all if one of the “lesser” teams in the county humble your Raiders if not all of them.
Oh and by the way; I just got a text that PC won their scrimmage 34-0…. Yea they must be terrible

hey 6-5A fans!!! How did your pre-season games go?? Not that pre-season games matter but just want to know how your team fared off against other teams for a scrimmage.. MLK beat CEDAR GROVE 40-6
and i must say they are looking very promising but in my opinion they need more work on our WR’S!! Too many drop balls for easy TD’S!! Not use to that at MLK!!

I believe Tucker beat Marist 24-3. And they look like they will be bringing it this year. I believe SWD beat Newton Co. 55-25. And Stephensen lost in a close defensive battle against N. Gwinnett.

And I believe Mays lost to Grady 27-6. I am a little surprised at that score.

Northside Dawg, wow, if you folks can defeat the likes of Camden, Lowndes, Colquitt, & Valdosta in 1-6A days to come someday, and do as well in 6A playoffs as Northside has done in lower brackets in the past, that’d have to make Northside the class of GA football. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t look forward to that kind of competition, year in and year out. Camden may find that out this year.

Gwinnett Dad: At least, Northside would be playing real football on a weekly basis instead of the patsy schedule they have now. Actually, it may take a little longer to get to 6A since the Houston County BOE will siphon off more students to Veterans High School first.
