Preseason all-state: AAA features deep, talented class

Three of the state’s top 15 college prospects for the 2014 recruiting year are in Class AAA, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.

Each made GHSF Daily’s preseason all-state team, all on defense. They are No. 11 Korie Rogers of Buford (committed to Clemson), No. 13 Nick Ruffin of St. Pius (Auburn) and No. 15 Bryson Allen-Williams (South Carolina).

Woodward Academy quarterback Terry Googer, rated No. 28, is on the offense listed as an athlete. He is projected as a receiver in college.

Class AAA also has two of the top-five juniors in Georgia in Callaway CB/WR Terry Godwin and Caver of Columbus DE Mehki Brown.

Agree with you on the PK – Thomas O’Leary is a clutch kicker – he hit FGs from 33, 44, 43, 45, 27 and 47 in the PLAYOFFS alone!

I almost fainted when I read this article……..DECATUR HIGH SCHOOL ACTUALLY HAS A PLAYER ON DEFENSE IN THE TOP DEFENSIVE PLAYER GROUP. This is astounding, I thought DHS was on a downward spiral after losing two very good head football coaches in two years. It’s been a strange summer weather wise……is a strange football season on tap?

Congrats to Ken Allen from Elbert County for getting some love in the preseason. He also picked up an offer from GT this week!

@GoGoldenLions n @hamilton, the best defensive player and leading tackler on the Pius team is Jr. Dalton Wilson. How can he be left off this list? He’s a BEAST.

Not a better running back in the state, regardless of class, than North Oconee’s Bryant.

@SPX Fan, @Go Golden Lions, @Hamilton: the reason St. Pius X players are not on this list is because they have yet to have success in a state championship game. See you at the Dome, boys!

The purpose of this article is to recognize the accomplishments of these hard-working young men (BTW, 2 players listed attend St Pius X). Surely you are not an adult….
