Preseason all-state: Carter leads AAAAAA team

Lorenzo Carter, the Norcross defensive end who is the consensus No. 1 college recruit in Georgia, leads GHSF Daily’s preseason all-state team in Class AAAAAA.

Norcross teammates Kevin Mouhon, a linebacker, and Myles Autry, a receiver and running back, also made the team. Norcross was the 2012 state champion.

There are many more Lowndes/Valdosta athletes than I would have expected…interesting indeed.

Kirkland from Lovejoy will be interesting to watch. He played the last couple of years at Landmark Christian in Fairburn (single A) and was a stud. Good luck wish you were still running the rock for Landmark but have a great season I will be following your progress.

Sportsnut, what’s up with Lovejoy recruiting players like that RB?

Todd Boyd could’ve been on there as a WR for Colquitt

Maybe the kid is districted for Lovejoy but chose to go to Landmark Christian and now his family can’t afford it.
Maybe he had some hardship at home and now lives with another relative.
Maybe his parents split up and he’s living with the one that resides in Lovejoy’s district.
Maybe he did move.

There are several other reasons not listed that might apply. Just because a stud switches schools it doesn’t mean something illegal is happening. Although, I will agree that shady stuff happens all the time with transfers.

I think Chris Murphy at Lassiter has an argument at CB. Biggest thing there is no one threw his way last year so he didn’t have the numbers a couple of the others did.

Cobb Co. has a nice group of kids in the secondary this year though to be sure.

Treyvon, Malcolm, Dyshon, Jamiyus, D’Andre, Tyrell, Kalvarez. Baby mama, he’ll grow up one day and want a job. You might want to rethink these kinds of names.

COLD HARD FACTS

@ coach:
Kirkland from Landmark was approached from a group of Lovejoy boosters that he played midget football for. They got his mom a job and found a new house for the family. Kirkland’s family felt he had a better chance of being recruited for college if he was at a bigger school.

Kirkland was a Lovejoy kid through 7th grade and went to Landmark in 8th grade. Moved from Fairburn when he transferred back to Lovejoy this spring. Won’t say nothing shady happened dealing with the transfer but I can say it was a bona fide move as far as the GHSA goes. Kirkland is a very good running back but even better kid. It will be interesting to see how he fits in to a spread based offense as the majority of his yards came from him being in a pro style offense with a lead blocker and many time even two lead blockers in front. He will help the Wildcats program. Best wishes to he and his Lovejoy teammates.

Jusfellofftheturniptruck, yea, really. And don’t give me that righteous indignation BS. You know exactly what I’m talking about. If you’re reading resumes an you see the name D’Andre on it, you’re going to do the same thing that most employers will do. You’re going to move on. Some of you people need to cut the crap. It’s getting old.

@ Colquitt Fan == No need to recruit. Winning is recruiting. As I stated on another blog, he simply came home. He is not from Alabama, South Carolina or Florida. Fact is that his coming back to Lovejoy is legit. Do not confuse us with your program or any other that has these issues.

@ Cobb Dawg == That same sentiment was apparent when North Cobb fans expressed themselves about Lovejoy’s D-1 prospects last season. Such as finding themselves in prison 5 years from now. Those “Thugs” put up 63 on your team from Cobb and there were no “shanks” used, just football play’s and great young men trying to accomplish their goal. I am glad that you won’t be reading my kids resume. Bob, Ben, Tyler, William, Dave, Mike, Charles are all great names but people sometimes prefer to give their children names that are not those of a given nature. I would not rename my child after me because it was not from my heritage. I got my name from my mother, who got her name from her mother, who got her name from her mother, who got her name from her mother, a former slave, who got her name from “Master”. Often people try to hold on to something that is uniquely theirs. Names are one area where people can claim a little separation from their past. such as mine. The person going through apps and finding these names and by-passing them are the problem today. People who make statements such as yours are just as guilty as those who started all this because you perpetuate the hard feelings that many are trying to leave behind.

Yo, Camden74 – y’all gonna run the same offense as Coach Herron ran? Also, I saw De’Anthony Thomas play when Crenshaw HS of Los Angeles visited Sugar Hill/Suwanee a few years ago – is Kalvarez Bessent that impactful?

Camden74

Sugar Hill Dawg…….As far as I know, it will be the same offense. But I’m hoping a little less conservative.

I guess it depends on how many touches Kalvarez gets on offense. As always, Camden has a group of very good running backs. He’s a pretty good cover guy on defense and has good speed and quickness. With that being said, I’m sure he’ll be a major impact player this season. But he won’t be the only one…….. :-D

AVikingFan……..I’m picking Camden to win R1, 6A, again. I thought about Colquitt or your Vikings initially, but realized Colquitt has a hell of a schedule and will probably be worn out both physically and mentally by the end of the regular season. Then, I started to wonder about the Vikings QB situation and whether or not you guys have a formidable signal caller to contend with, do you? I know you guys will bring the heat on defense this season. Region 1, 6A will be down right NASTY this season. I believe every team will be improved. How say you?
