Hiram promotes coordinator to succeed Dorsey

Hiram announced Monday that it had promoted defensive coordinator Chris Brown to replace Andy Dorsey as head football coach. Dorsey will remain as athletics director.

Brown also had been the team’s strength and conditioning coach. Prior to coming to Hiram, he was an assistant at McEachern.

Dorsey, the son of long-time McEachern coach Jimmy Dorsey, was 45-30 in his seven seasons at Hiram. His 2009 team won a region title and was 11-1. Hiram, a Region 5-AAAAA school in Paulding County, was 5-5 in 2012.

Hiram will have a meet and greet for Brown with parents and boosters on July 9 at the school, the school Website says.

It’s a lot harder to recruit kids from other schools to Hiram than it is to McEachern. Give him a break.

McEachern doesn’t have to recruit, tradition and facilities does it. You wouldn’t understand unless you went there and lived through it.
