Salomon Lorenzano scored in the 8th minute and Chris Perez in the 75th for McIntosh (23-0), which beat Houston County 2-0 for its fourth state championship while recording its 21st shutout.
In a battle of unbeatens, the Chiefs faced few serious offensive threats from the Bears (21-1). McIntosh allowed two goals over the entire season.
McIntosh flooded the goalie box with players to produce Lorenzano’s goal. With a crowd of players in the box, McIntosh’s Carson Brooks drew out Houston goalkeeper Bryce Dawson. The ball deflected to Lorenzano in the right side of the box, where he had a clear shot.
Houston’s best chance to square the score came in the 23rd minute, when Drew Behrman fired a pass into the goalie box, where Steven Moore was cutting to the goal. But Moore couldn’t get a foot on the ball and it rolled out of bounds.
With Houston fighting to create a chance at the equalizer, Perez delivered the clincher in the 75th minute.
