Baseball: Blessed Trinity, Parkview roll up wins before Florida trip

Class AAA No. 1 Blessed Trinity has won eight straight games and will travel to Fort Myers, Fla. next week for the Perfect Game High School Showdown. The Titans defeated No. 8 St. Pius on March 29 in an important Region 6-AAA matchup. Pitcher Reed Scott tossed a complete game shutout in the 4-0 win while Nathaniel Maggio stroked a 2-run homer and C.J. Brazil connected on a 2-run double. … Despite losing catcher Jarrett Freeland, a Georgia signee, Class AAAAAA No. 4 Parkview has won four of five games heading into spring break. Like Blessed Trinity, the Panthers will take part in the Perfect Game High School Showdown in Florida. Parkview beat Archer Wednesday 5-3 as junior starter Christian Vann got the win after pitching three innings and striking out eight. Senior outfielder Micah Finley went 4-for-4 with three RBIs. … Class AAAA No. 3 Marist edged Columbia 8-7 in nine innings Monday as the War Eagles drew 17 walks in their victory. Marist pitcher Jordan Baker threw four innings and gave up three earned runs while Michael Toner came on in relief to throw three innings. In a 15-0 (three innings) win over Chamblee Wednesday, junior Sean Guenther earned the complete game shutout on the mound giving up just one hit. … No 10 Brookwood fell to Dacula Wednesday 5-2. Dylan Brown was clutch on the mound for Dacula, striking out six for the Falcons. Chance Keefer recorded the save for Dacula while also providing three hits at the plate. … Class AAA No. 2 Buford took advantage of six No. 3 North Hall errors to exact a small measure of revenge over the Trojans, who defeated Buford Monday. Jake Higginbotham earned the win in relief with seven strikeouts in three innings of work. … McEachern slipped past Harrison 4-3 as the Indians scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a Harrison fielding error. Trey Harris had a two-run triple to tie the game before Jared Walker scored the winning run on an error by the Hoyas third baseman. … Kell also took advantage of a miscue to escape with a victory over Sprayberry. The Longhorns rallied from a 4-2 hole to win 5-4 after Bradley Taylor scored the game-winning run on a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ryan Losito helped Kell rally with two hits and two runs driven in. … Osborne also won Wednesday by a 5-4 score when Martin Logan drove home Nile Goings with two outs in the seventh inning. Logan earlier crushed a two-run home run to help Osborne pull off the win. … Class AAAAAA No. 2 Walton crushed Cherokee 16-2 as Stephen Wrenn provided two hits and an RBI while Luke Manzo tallied five hits and drove home one. Henry Rowling got in on the fun with a three-run home run, part of a Raiders’ eight-run first-inning outburst.

Cartersville wins its 9th in a row, Canes 9 Sonoraville 0 and is now 10-3. The Canes also play next week in the same Perfect Game High School Showdown in Florida as Blessed Trinity . You need to also follow teams other that 1AAA and Atlanta area teams if you want to be a regional paper.

There are two huge games in 4AAAAAA next week with 3rd ranked Marietta and Mceachern who I think deserves to be be in the top 5. These games could easily decide the region championship

Cartersville one hits North Murray 15 to 0. 6th shutout in last 10 games.
Cartersville, Parkview, Redan and Blessed Trinity will represent Georgia in the Perfect Game High School Showdown in Florida this week. Each team will play 4 games in 3 days against ranked Florida High Schools.

Redan’s in that Perfect Game tournament as well you didn’t hear them complaining about coverage, I know Cartersville always has a good baseball program but my question to you is would the major newspaper in Cartersville have an article about Columbia, Redan or any other metro team? I think not

The AJC has home delivery in Rome and Cartersville. If they want us (including mysely) to continue to subscribe to their paper, they need to give us a reason by covering Northwest Georgia news.
