The investigation into Tift County’s boys basketball program is over.
The GHSA has found no wrongdoing in allegations of recruiting that sparked the probe in October, the Tifton Gazette reported.
“It feels good to be vindicated,’’ Tift County High athletic director Rusty Smith told the Gazette. “We felt good about the situation, because the Georgia High School Association had approved every one of our players.’’
Tift County was placed on probation and fined a small amount for an illegal practice held in November of 2011, the newspaper reported.
Tift, ranked No. 1 in Class AAAAAA, plays tonight (Wednesday) at home against McEachern in the first round of the state tournament.
