The upper left AAAAAA Boys bracket is so weak that a Hillgrove/Campbell quarterfinal is a strong possibility, which is insane.

Agree with Shaunster – the brackets clearly favor south Georgia schools. On the girls side, the top ranked schools, barring upsets, will meet by the 3rd round.

Class A is seeded by power rankings. While I see problems with that system, why not use a modified power system for all classifications. Let the Regional tournaments decide the teams going to state, then seed them by the power ranking system forced on Class A only? Just a thought – it would at least avoid the distinct possibilitiy of North Gwinnett playing Parkview in the 2nd round!.

And why are they playing all finals in Macon this year? And what happened to the semis at the Gwinnett Arena?

Better watch out for the Langston Hughes Girls!! They are a tough bunch. Look for them to make some noise. 23-2. Nobody saw them coming. Work Hard Girls!

On the boys side – Dont count on Campbell making it out of the 1st round, Brunswick is a real sleeper team. Not sure how or why it’s perceived that the brackets clearly favor the south Georgia teams. Especially considering there are only 4 of them. The only one that can clearly be a favorite to win the first round game is Tift County.

Girls Side – @Weasel – Not sure which brackets you are looking at but the bracket I saw North Gwinnett and Parkview cant possibly meet in the 2nd round, they would only play each other if they make it to the finals. Norcross and Parkview can meet in the 2nd round. I cant see why anyone would have a problem with the regional tournaments deciding the seedings that way it is decided on the court the way its suppose to be. To have the most favorable seeding take care of your business in your region tournement. You earn the right to host a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round game in your region tournament.

No system is going to be perfect. No matter what you do someone is going to end up traveling some distance. The brackets are released in August, way before the season starts, who falls where all depends on what happens during the season and regionals. The brackets are not made up after the regionals are done. They try to keep 1-4, and 5-8 together each year to minimize travel, but as I said someone will always travel.

@Andy landers, Langston Hughes Lady Panthers are in the quarter finals 2/26/13. Good thing @ roger that didn’t take your advice & settle for the region championship, cause the Langston Hughes Lady Panthers are still here.
