There has been confusion for some.. GAprepcountry has the incorrect record for Hebron, They acutally beat Providence in Feb and with their win Friday solidified their 4S seed.

looks like ACS has the tougher first round draw. Towns is like a JV team so GWA will walk through that game. GWA beat hebron and prince twice.

George Walton “will not” walk over Towns County girls. It will be a close game , and prediction is Towns Co. wins!

Hats off to Towns Co. for hosting Region. Great venue and good people! Hard to find theses days. Towns girls are always tough and the boys have some good young talent.

As you can tell by the score George Walton “did not” walk through that game! The boys played a hard fought game! Very proud of them! That team probably thought it was going to be an easy win as they beat our boys at the last match up but had to work for this win!!! :)

I haven’t seen any scores from the semi finals of the Region 8A Tournament at Hebron Christian so will provide the two I have available after driving home from Dacula:

(1N) Towns County Girls 55, (2S) Providence Christian 37
(3N) Pinecrest Academy 58, (4S) Hebron Christian 45

(1S) George Walton Academy led (3S) Hebron Christian Academy by, I think, a 26-13 score at the half and the (1S) Athens Christian and (2N) Commerce Boys were to play the late game.

Here are the scores for the first three Saturday games at Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula:

(3S) Hebron Christian Girls 45, (2S) Providence Christian 29 (Consolation)
(4S) Hebron Christian Boys 69, (2N) Commerce 48 (Consolation)
(1N) Towns County Girls 44, (1S) George Walton Academy 34

Athens Christian had pulled away from a tie of, I think, 23-23 against Pinecrest Academy at halftime for a sizable lead in the fourth quarter when I left under the threat of snow in the mountains which was thankfully gone by the time we got here with the help of dedicated road crews.

@townsfan: congrats on girls win. Gwa is really good. Serious question, not trying to be rude… When do u think the towns boys will drop out of region 8 like Tallulah falls? They were 0-10 in the region this year and haven’t won a region game (other than against Tallulah) in over 3 years. The closest school to y’all is over an hour away and most schools are at least two hours away

Don’t expect the Towns Boys to drop out of the region. They did defeat Tallulah Falls twice this year so were 2-12 in the region instead of 0-10 and they took George Walton into overtime in the play in game this year before losing 51-48, not 51-38 as shown above. George Walton the very next night had Athens Christian on the ropes with a 47-42 lead in the fourth quarter before perhaps running out of gas after the overtime win over Towns the night before and the tough game to that point against Athens Christian and losing 52-47. In the George Walton game, three sophomores took the lead for Towns with Trace Moss contributing 15 points and 6 rebounds, Dallas Manus 13 points and 4 assists, and Boone Moss 8 points and 10 rebounds. And we have possibly the best group of seventh and eighth graders I have seen at the school in more than fifty years of close observation. Also, we finished third in the sub-region last year with wins in addition to over Tallulah over Riverside Military and an upset win at Commerce the last regular season game so we do have some region wins other than over Tallulah over the last three years. It’s easy to look at a few years of struggles for a small, rural school and overlook admirable success of the past and a potentially bright future.

All that may be true but keep in mind, half of the schools quit playing tallulah falls because they don’t count as a region game, and the top tier teams that do play Tallulah, usually play with their jv team. I know ACS beat Tallulah varsity with their jv team. So between them and riverside those wins are like beating Helen Keller school for the deaf and blind. What about the distances between schools though? It doesn’t make since to have one team 2 hours from everyone else in the region

And keep in mind ACS starts 5 sophomores and beat Towns by 50. (89-39) my guess it could have been by more
