Tech signee Kaela Davis leaves Buford basketball team

Georgia Tech women’s basketball signee Kaela Davis is no longer a member of her high school team at No. 1-ranked Buford.

Buford coach Gene Durden could not be reached early Friday to comment or say whether the decision of Davis or his.

Davis has not played since Buford (18-4), ranked No. 1 in Class AAA, lost to Wesleyan 44-40 on Jan. 26. Davis was held to nine points.

Davis, the daughter of former NBA player Antonio Davis, is one of the top 10 recruits in the country. She helped lead Norcross to a state championship in 2010 as a teammate of Diamond DeShields.

Davis transferred the next season to Buford and won another state title. Buford was the Class AA runner-up in 2012.

Davis believes in entitlement…Norcross to Buford – Tenn. to Tech – GA Ice to Tenn. Flight….not commitment!

Looks like Azar’s Wolves did a number on the little lady. If she can’t take the heat in h.s. roundball, she has no business in calculus class at Ma Tech. She might want to consider Georgie and a major in How to be a ward of the state or PE in Athens.

Her dad chased down the All-star coaches last year in Savannah crying as to why she was not the MVP over Diamond. This is no suprise. At some point that family needs a does of reality!

Easy…….maybe they need to recruit better to win at a higher classification. Recruiting can be a tough business. Maybe we should give them more time to get better players. I would not be too tough on them just yet. Lets see how they make out next season. My HS recruited well but they also had some down years also.

Transfers between high schools is becoming an epidemic and it has nothing to do with private, city or public schools and their advantages or disadvantages. It has everything to do with overzealous parents and unrealistic expectations about trophies, awards and scholarships.

She is an awsome talent. She killed our team when they met. She made sure the whole gym new it too. The way she acted, you would have thought she was destroying some really great players. They are good enough to win it without her.

Her dad is an idiot as well…like she needs help from dad cussing out the ref’s from the stands. C’mon Man!

Hope this spoiled brat realizes one day that the universe does not revolve around her or her father. Maybe Antonio will go bankrupt, she will get kicked out of GT for not attending class, and end up with no money, no friends, and no career….fingers crossed

The kind of player I sat down last year in my rec team, thought he was all world, never passing the ball and thinking the team evolved around him. Funny dad was just as bad too. Didn’t realize that there is no I in team. Actually lost 2 of first 3 games though he was game high scorer, Came off bench after I sat him and the team won the next 4 games, dad took him off team cause he wasn’t getting the accolades..

This happens all the time with the guys, reminds me of Drew at UNC going to UCLA when he found he couldn’t start. UNC won the national championship that year without him, in fact were a much better team after he left.

No ifs ands or butts about it there should be a one year sit out transfer policy on folks that don’t move a certain distance. Basketball has gotten out of control even on the woman’s side. Remember a few years back didn’t Deshields brother leaves Woodward to play football at Norcross then return the same year to Woodward to play his final year of baseball? Dekalb football is full of kids doing this every year. That’s why you have King,Stephenson, and Tucker as contenders and a couple midter SWD,Miller Grove,McNair, Druid Hills getting raided for talent. The bottom feeders in Dekalb get all the stars recruited and they end up with losing programs. Some of these “stars” are stockpiled on the bench at the big schools and end up not playing a lot.

WOW another Buford high school incident….we need a transfer policy in place in Georgia. To many kids moving around from school to school just to get a RING! Buford is known for this kind of stuff in football as well. Build a winner not pairity! Just sayin!

She quit the team. She wanted to come back, Buford coach said no. Parents met with principal and AD, they also said no. She’s still in school there but will not be rejoining the team. Not the first time she had quit at Buford, but it is the last.

Boys team would be better off if her brother would quit, too.

New respect

Nice to see a Coach who doesn’t put up with kids attitudes just because they’re good. I would hope that the coaches at Tech look at this and maybe think twice about putting a Diva on their team. I am not a fan of Buford because my daughter plays in a “true” 7-AAA team and we have no chance of competing with them, but this gives me new respect for the coach. It’s a shame Buford doesn’t move into a Region where they don’t blow every team out of the water when they play. I guess championships are more important than actually giving all your D1 athletes some competiton in High School.

According to 11alive.com, she’s mysteriously contracted an “illness”, an apparently one that you can predict that you will still be sick four weeks from now during the region and state tournaments. Parents trying to save face I guess? Nice try but too many people know the truth.

Tha Truth

Not a good look…Went to Norcross and won a state championship and leave ? Why you ask ? 2 things. Could not stand being overshadowed by Diamond Deshields and Coach Hembree would not let Antonio coach. He was actually an asst coach on that team but got on Coach Hembrees nerves and she made him take a seat in the stands with the other parents and Antonio didnt like that .

Wow

It’s amazing to me how much they are trying to spin this into an illness when everyone with eyes and ears have witnessed (not just rumors) what the truth is. They have people on different sites trying push this “illness” The illness is called “Diva-itus” The symptoms include parents in the stands coaching and cussing out the refs, player not listening to her coach and being arrogant towards her teammates. It causes your head to swell to to the point that it can’t fit in the gym.
