Creekview hires former Chattahoochee coach Crowder

Terry Crowder, who led Chattahoochee’s football team to a state championship in 2010, is the new head coach at Creekview in Cherokee County.

Crowder was 60-40 in nine seasons at Chattahoochee. The Cougars were 7-4 last season playing in Region 6-AAAAAA. Crowder came to Chattahoochee in 2004 from Camden County, where he was an assistant on Camden’s 2003 Class AAAAA championship team.

Chattahoochee’s 2010 team was 15-0 and led by all-classification state player of the year  quarterback  Tim Byerly.

Crowder will replace Al Morrell, who retired after 31 seasons as a high school coach. Under Morrell, who started the Creekview program in 2006, Creekview had only one losing season and was 9-2 in 2012 playing in Region 7-AAAAA.

This is an excellent hire; Creekview is up and coming, and will keep getting better. It is the best school for football in Cherokee County.

It will be interesting to see who Chattahoochee hires to fill his shoes. I think Lovie Smith is still available. Hooch should still finish strong in their region this year, maybe even win it. Lot’s of returning starters and a strong senior class.
