Chattahoochee football coach Crowder resigns for new job

Terry Crowder, who led Chattahoochee’s football team to a state championship in 2010, told his players Tuesday morning that he is leaving the program after eight seasons.

Crowder told AJC.com that he has another job in metro Atlanta but can’t comment until it is approved at a school board meeting Thursday. Metro job openings that have been reported are at Creekside, Creekview, Dacula, Duluth, M.L. King, Mays, North Forsyth, North Springs, South Cobb and Westlake.

“Chattahoochee has been so good to me, and we were able to accomplish some good things; it’s just a special, special place,’’ Crowder said. “It was a decision based on what’s best for my family. I’m going to miss everybody here. It’s just awful right now.’’

Crowder came to Chattahoochee in 2004 from Camden County, where he was an assistant on Camden’s 2003 Class AAAAA championship team. Crowder was 60-40 in nine seasons at Chattahoochee. The Cougars were 7-4 last season playing in Region 6-AAAAAA.

Chattahoochee’s 2010 team was 15-0 and led by all-classification state player of the year  quarterback  Tim Byerly.

Be rest assured where ever he goes, there will be a significant pay increase from Fulton County. He did a great job at Chattahoochee. I wish him the absolute best.

@ Some sense == Dekalb will not be Clayton. Clayton handled what they need and are now in the good graces of SACS. Dekalb is still digging it’s hole. They have too many issue’s.

Creekview for sure! Coach we all wish you well! You deserve a large pay increase. Fulton County has to change their salary policies for Coaches! You will be missed.

Winning big in Fulton County is done despite the powers that be in Fulton County. But very soon everybody will be either mediocre or bad.

Creekview would be my guess too, but who knows. Coach Crowder has put the Hooch program on the map and will hopefully end up in the hands of a good Head Coach. There are high expectations from 2013 team according to the local newspaper.

Wishing Coach Crowder all the best in the future. He has been a great leader for the players at Hooch. Now looking ahead, I am very confident Hooch will find their next great Coach to go with the excellent players, the fine School and community. See you all at the Georgia Dome on Saturday, Aug 24th at 9am for the Hooch vs. Kell. Should be an exciting game at the Dome and 2013 season. Change is part of life.
