Can the the Warhawks get some love. Finally playing in the right classification after being forced to play up the past two years. Only lost to one AAA school this season and have played a tough none region schedule against several of your rank teams. Have three Sr being recruited by D-1 schools.

Yeah, just think what Henry County could do if they had a coach.

What about upstart Lithonia (9-5) vs #3 Marist on Tuesday. Lithonia has beat South Atlanta and lost Columbia by 9.

You’re right Lithonia is a sleeper this season for sure but they seem to just play well at home, although the Marist game is at home also they need more consistent play on the road to be taken seriously. I was impressed by them last week against my Columbia Eagles even though we were without a starter and had a bad shooting night, Lithonia played well.

‘’How can Holy Innocent’s not be ranked in A? They 3rd in Power Poll for Private schools.’’

I don’t respect the GHSA’s power rating that much. Not sure all the games have been reported to make it accurate. That said, HI could easily be ranked. I’m amazed at the depth in Class A.

‘’What about upstart Lithonia (9-5) vs #3 Marist on Tuesday. Lithonia has beat South Atlanta and lost Columbia by 9.’’

Thanks for pointing out that game. I was listing only games between ranked teams, but Lithonia-Marist should be a good one.

”It not Johnson-Savannah it is Sol C Johnson. There is on one Savannah High and that is The High.”

Can’t disgree w/ that. AJC’s style has always been to call it Johnson-Savannah to differentiate between Johnson of Savannah and of Gainesville. Same with Northside-Warner Robins and Northside-Columbus. There used to be a Northside-Atlanta. Few schools are called by their ”full name’ either in the media or in general. M.L. King might be the only one. Is Mary Persons a person? Langston Hughes and Maynard Jackson are slowly becoming Hughes and Jackson, or Jackson-Atlanta (since there’s a Jackson High in Butts County). Maybe formal names are better. I’d also have to make changes for Lucy Laney and Benjamin Mays in these rankings.

Kool thanks for the info it just when we play teams out of our region or in our new region they seems to think that Johnson is Savannah High, because they see Johnson-Savannah. I have had to explain around 3times we are the Bluejackets and they are Atom smashers! They think Johnson were back to back region champs and State runner-up. Just want my boys to get there credit that all.

Holy Innocents is a good team and should be ranked somewhere in the top 10. I saw them Saturday destroy Padiea. They have great size in the twins and #11, and number 1 and 20 can really shoot from deep.

I think Wheeler should be 2.. Its not a team in Cobb County That can match up with them. They are playing very well. Great Defense and Great Team ball on Offense. Elijah Staley is a monster.. hes playing on another level right now.. Avery Patterson& Jerron Love look very well also. Daniel Giddons controls the Defensive boards!

Todd, a couple mistakes in the notes under AAAAA. Number 2 Allatoona (not Kell) is playing in the Wally Keller Classic Showcase in Punta Gorda, FL (not Charlotte) this weekend against Riverview of Sarasota, Fla. (Fri.) and Bishop Verot of Fort Myers, Fla. (Saturday). I appreciate the coverage the AJC gives us…which gives us much more coverage than our local paper!

I like the enter action of the AJC just wish when it come to Savannah it is all about one player. Savannah High has been a hot bed of talent the last couple of years. Back to Back region champs, State runner-up (Milton Coach Boyd beat us ? around that and we played up 2 Classes 5A, Crawford Square Champs, Bi-Lo champs, and just one Sweet 16 in South Carolina all in the past two season. T@m and Sol C Johnson Who? Bluejackets baby will see come State time.

Yeah I think that Lithonia needs to be more consistent, but I think they are the biggest sleepers in Deklab County right now

re: Allatoona – Thanks for the correction, Bucsfan.

re: Wheeler – They’d probably be #2 except for the loss to Roswell. Definitely think Wheeler can win the title, but got to base it on results, not potential. btw, Wheeler played an out-of-state team on Saturday, I believe. Can’t find a score. Will give Wheeler a call if I don’t get it soon. If someone knows, let us know.

re: Savannah & Johnson. I was talking w/ Coach Jordan last week in writing the story on dunkers. He half-jokingly said the best rivalry is Savannah is Savannah High vs. whoever has the next-best team in Savannah that year. I guess that’s Johnson this year.

Bucs Fan: I think Punta Gorda is in Charlotte County if I’m not mistaken.

To all: has anybody seen Alpharetta play? They are an enigma? Is that a word? I saw them twice last week and came away after the upset over N Gwinnett thinking this might be the best defensive coach in the area. I am very impressed with them. I know they lost some games early, but with their run last year into the Final 4, I’d not want to play them in the early rounds this year.
