Sophomore guard Te’a Cooper scored a season-high 30 points to lead the McEachern girls basketball team to a 58-51 victory over third-ranked North Cobb at McEachern on Friday.
It was the first loss of the season against a Georgia team for North Cobb, which fell to 14-2 overall and 7-1 in Region 4-AAAAAA.
McEachern built a 21-8 lead in the first quarter and expanded it to 16 at the end of the half. North Cobb never got closer than the seven-point final margin.
McEachern, which was undefeated and won the Class AAAAA title last season, is 9-2 since starting the season 0-5 against a schedule that included North Cobb, No. 2 Norcross, No. 6 Alpharetta and two out-of-state teams. The Indians are 7-2 in the region.
Cooper finished with 15 points in each half. The Indians also got 10 points from Jada Lewis. Amber Reeves led North Cobb with 23.
