Here are the final Maxwell Ratings. Remember that the ratings place teams and assign ratings in a way that provide the best mathematical explanation of scores of games during the full season. The objective is not to rank the teams where they ”deserve” to be based on their finish in the state playoffs.

Norcross makes history again by being one of the few teams in the history of the Maxwell ratings to finish above 100!
Great work Norcross!!!!

Thanks everyone for all the constructive feedback on the ratings and for a great year following Georgia high school football. I’ll be making some minor updates to the system during the offseason based on some thoughts from your postings.
Also, thanks to Todd and the AJC.com staff for posting the ratings, to the GHSF Daily for featuring the ratings, and to the great group over at GHSFHA.org for making all the data for the scores and schedules freely available.
Finally, congratulations to all fhe state champions and good luck to all teams for next year!

I think Sandy Creek could be any team in GA regardless of classification.

Maxpreps had Sandy Creek ranked 3rd in Ga and 91st in the nation. They will start next year ranked even higher. Rivals stated that they will likely be the highest ranked in Ga. next season, but the formula being used here adds weight to AAAAAA so SC is doing great just making it to #5. We played two teams from AAAAAA and our defense gave up only one score. Classifications go out the window when considering Sandy Creek.

@The Cross…
Last time I checked Norcross wasn’t 2 scores better than Lovejoy. I hate to break it to you but Sandy Creek was the best team in the state of Georgia this year. Sandy Creek will be a monster next year also. SCHS returns a QB who had over 2,500 passing yds, a 1,000 yd WR, and two 1,000 yrd rushers. Congratulations on your AAAAAA title but the best team in the state was the AAAA champs.

That Dude says-Sandy Creek played inferior competition so any stats you throw out are meaningless. I watched the Ridgeland game and they STUNK. Like I said Norcross would beat Sandy Creek by at least two scores. SC is good Norcross is GREAT!
Norcross #3 in MaxPreps nationally…#1 in the nation on iBN PrimeTime. Sandy Creek was a fine team but comparing them to Norcross is just silly.

@The Cross, there is only 1 Norcross player (Kamara) that would likely start for Sandy Creek. Sandy Creek would embarrass Norcross by at least 3 TDs. Why do you think Norcross would win?

so Gainesville is ranked 16 overall… oh well, cant win em all… but Im really trippin that ppl seem to think Sandy Creek will beat everybody… lol smh .. like I said, they are probably the most COMPLETE team, but not the BEST team… but they are good…

GAHSFB-It is hard to engage in an intelligent debate if you continue to say stupid things. SC is a good well coached football team but their talent level is not even close to that of the Blue Devils. Kamara, Autry, Wilber, Ledford, Walker, Northrup, Jenkins, Lynch, Akins, Tate, Carter, Akins, Simpkins, etc. are all going to be playing on Saturdays and half of those names are juniors. You guys are not going to convince anyone that Sandy Creek has more athletes than Norcross. Any college scout would pick Norcross as a recruiting ground vs. Sandy Creek. You guys are good for your classification but no match for the AAAAAA CHAMPIONS. You should stick to playing the minor league AAAA teams, the BIG BOYS will embarrass you.

@The Cross… Are you that clueless??
You said AAAA is the minor league’s? You do realize that the classifications are based on school enrollments not football talent right? You’re bringing up Maxpreps and other National rankings. You do realize how subjective those are right? If not just ask Grayson who at one point was #1. As far as your inferior competition remark we can only play who’s on our schedule. Last time I checked the two AAAAAA teams we played got stomped by a combined 69 -14 by Sandy Creek. Might I add both those teams made it to the second round and are annually playoff teams in your precious AAAAAA. So I doubt as you put it the big boys would embarrass SCHS.
For the record SCHS started playing varsity football in 1992 without a senior class. First graduating class was in 1994. SCHS has 7 region titles and 3 state championship’s already. Norcross is old as dirt and only has 3 region titles and just won the schools first state championship. The Norcross football program the last few years has been good but Sandy Creek’s football program is great.

Patriot Power-I was talking about the talent on THIS years team. Your comment about NFL players is as relevant as Ike Turner can really throw a punch. Sandy Creek is not in the discussion as far as best teams in Georgia. You guys would have to crawl over 8-10 teams even to get mentioned.

That Dude-Newnan and East Coweta…wow I am impressed. Seriously, Norcross is the best team in the state this year and it’s not even close. Be happy you play in the “minor leagues”. Do you have a clue? The GHSA classifies teams to level the playing field. The higher the school’s population the more of a talent pool the school has to draw from. Does that makes sense to you or do you want to continue your illogical line of thinking. You are quickly running down Moroon Lane.
Sometimes it is better to remain silent and appear ignorant than to open your mouth and remove all possible doubt.
There is not a High SChool Football expert out there that would say that Sandy Creek is comparable to Norcross this year. Remember we are talking about THIS YEAR.

@The Cross… You are one ignorant dude.
You are correct that the GHSA classifies the teams by school enrollments to help level the playing field. You are how ever more ignorant than you already come across if you think just because say a school has 2,200 students it automatically has more TALENT than one compared to with only 1,200 students. I read more than quote this year from coach’s saying regardless of class SCHS was the best in GA. One coach said SCHS was the best team he had ever seen. I’m glad to know that you are the spoke person for high school experts.
I’m glad you’re enjoying your first state title in football. Judging by your schools past it will be about another 60 to 70 years before you all win one again in football. When norcross wins it 3 out of 4 years then speak me. Until then get on our level. By the way is Moroon Lane anything Moron Lane?

That Dude-I thought we were debating about which team was better this year? What does winning 3 out of 4 years have to do with anything? It doesn’t. This argument won’t be solved because we are never going to get to see our teams play each other this year.
And also I didn’t speak for the experts they did when they voted Norcross in the National polls. I think Sandy Creek slipped into one…89th or something like that its just too far back for me to see exactly where you are. Congrats.

@ The Cross…you are delusional if you think Norcross was the best team in the state this year. Yeah they won a State Championship in AAAAAA, Whoopdee do! Just because its the biggest classification doesn’t automatically make it the best.
Based on the State Championship game that Norcross played…Sandy Creek would have beat the brakes off of them.

1smallhammer–I’m not suggesting that because Norcross plays in the highest classification that they would beat Sandy Creek, I am suggesting that Norcross would beat Sandy Creek because they have more talent at every single position on the field. You guys get a little excited because you beat a weak Ridgeland and really didn’t play one quality opponent this year. Your strength of schedule is laughable. Whereas Norcross beat 7 of the top ten teams any of which would have treated Sandy Creek like you were the new inmate on the cell block. It’s easy to get confident when your toughest opponent all year was Newnan…hahaha.
Any one who follows Georgia High School Football thinks as I do. Norcross was the elite of the state and Sandy Creek was a good solid team who beat a bunch if cupcakes.

I’m not excited about beating Ridgeland, I knew that was going to happen. You just have to accept it…Norcross isn’t as good as you THINK they are.

Norcross has played and beaten the likes of North Gwinnett, Camden, Colquitt, Lovejoy, Parkview, Mill Creek any of these teams would have beat you guys badly.
You are like the little brother who wants to play with his older brother and when they finally let him he starts crying after the first play.

Let’s put things into perspective here…Lovejoy would KILL Sandy Creek. Lovejoy would beat anyone else in the state as well, but Norcross proved the better of the two. Trust me on this, the AAAAAA title game displayed the most talent on the field and the two best teams in the entire state. You can take that to the bank and cash it for a nice Christmas.

1lilbittyhammer-It is not personal…just enjoy your championship in the AAAA and we will enjoy ours in AAAAAA. You are right the higher classification doesn’t mean anything. Everyone is equal. Let’s not keep score or grade papers. Let’s all lie to our kids and tell them they are all the same and we are all winners!
Or do what I do and look your kids dead in the eyes and tell him that there is always someone or some team better out there and in your case it is Nocross or Lovejoy or Camden or Colquitt or North Gwinnett. Don’t let your boys grow up in a foundation of lies. Norcross knows that Notre Dame or Alabama is better than them as you should Know that Norcross is superior to you. It is not personal just a fact.

@NGHS09…Lovejoy would not play SC this year…they knew they’d get the beat down. As for the AAAAAA game displaying talent…where was it. It must have been the replays from the AAAAA and AAAA games that you were looking at.
@TheCross..Let me be Perfectly Clear…I never said all things were equal, but I am right…the higher classification doen’t mean you are more talented. You can tell you are from Gwinnett because you think that automatically makes you better than everyone else. Its not your fault though…your just uninformed.

Why in the hell should I know where Sandy Creek is??? There is no reason why I should…just because they have a decent Football Team? It is not like they are ever nationally ranked or relevant in a conversation about the best in Georgia. It’s just another school who overestimates how good they are by beating a bunch of puffballs for the last few years. You guys are funny though..it would be like Valdosta State wanting to play the winner of the Alabama/Notre Dame game. You guys are out of your league. You guys are tarnishing your own Championship by talking stupid.

@Camden74 – The best teams make it to the playoffs and then win for the next 5 weeks. Both of our teams bowed out before the championship. It pains me but I know my teams wasn’t the best this year no matter how much talent they had. Same is true for your team. Good teams – yes! Great teams – probably. Best – not this year.

Gwinnett County is 8 times larger than Fayette so yea you are a podunk little County with a decent football team. You are barely ranked in one National poll and just because Cee Lo lived down there you think you are special. You aren’t special…Sorry.
