Chapel Hill 48, New Manchester 31: Senior point guard Ashley Chestnut led visiting Chapel Hill with 12 while freshman power forward Jazmine Lawrence scored 11. Coach Christopher Long’s Panthers (6-1) led 30-15 at the half.
M.L. King 64, Dunwoody 44: The host Lions improved to 3-7 (2-3 in Region 6-AAAAA) as junior guard Stephanie Silavong led the team with 20 points and sophomore forward/center Ariana Wiley contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds. M.L. King controlled the action throughout, leading by 17 at the start of the fourth quarter. “It was our most complete game of the year,” said head coach Jimmy Fields. “We played a really well-rounded game.”
Miller Grove 52, North Atlanta 5: Host Miller Grove played suffocating defense and led North Atlanta from the start. The Wolverines took an 18-1 lead after one period and a 28-3 edge at the half. Senior guard Tashi Thompson led Miller Grove with 17 points and Carissa Weaver had 12 points, eight rebounds and five blocks. Freshman center Chrystal Ezechukwu grabbed eight boards for the Wolverines (7-2, 5-1 Region 6-AAAAA).
Stephenson 54, Mays 28: Senior forward Marnasha Eugene scored 15 to lead host Stephenson while Penn State commitment Kaliyah Mitchell had 12. Sophomore Charbonay Johnson had five blocks for Stephenson. The Jaguars controlled the game in the first half, leading 26-9 at the break. Stephenson improved to 12-1 (6-1 in Region 6-AAAAA) with the win.
Tucker 54, Southwest DeKalb 52: Visiting Tucker trailed by two at the half, but went on a run to start the second half which resulted in a 10-point lead midway through the third quarter. However, the host Panthers would come back and nearly tie the game in the closing moments but a runner in the lane rimmed out as time expired. Junior power forward Erykah Davenport led the Tigers with 14 points and made the front end of a one-and-one to put Tucker up two before the missed runner by Southwest DeKalb. Tucker improved to 7-0 (5-0 in Region 6-AAAAA).
