Predictions: Norcross, Buford will bring titles to Gwinnett

Last week, I broke my long-standing rule about picking against Buford. It was a pick I came to regret and a mistake I won’t make again. So look for Buford to beat St. Pius in the Class AAA final and win the ninth state championship in school history. Also expect Sandy Creek and Calhoun to continue their dynasties. Norcross, Gainesville and Eagle’s Landing Christian will pick up their first state titles, and Emanuel County Institute will end Dooly County’s run and collect its second championship in six years.

Congratulations go out to Ron Clark of Marietta, who was last week’s winner in the High School Football Pickoff contest. Clark was the only contestant to correctly pick 12 of the 14 semifinal games and earn 24 points. Remember that this is the final week of the season, and each correct pick is worth five points. Click here to participate in this week’s contest.

You have more faith in others than you do your team. We are beyond that now. No publication or poll can save you. Here is your problem. We dont care ! All we know is that this is our time. You continue to assert that Norcross will be champs because someone else says so. Our wagon is small. We don’t have a large contingent that jumped on. They are riding with you and yours. Our wagon is comfortably full. We know who we are and are not dependant on someone else for validation. Saturday, you too will see what others have begrudgingly come to accept, Lovejoy is the Best TEAM in Georgia. Our validation will come on the field.

sportsnut-Don’t misuderstand me…I say that we will be champs tomorrow because I am 100% certain that we have the best team. I’ve watched you on film and the film doesn’t lie. You are vulnerable…a lot of weakness on defense. Offensively you will have difficulty with our defensive scheme. Bottom line is that Norcross has more talent and better coaching. That will equate to a Norcross Victory.

I am glad your wagon is small…less people will be disappointed down there. And based on the other Lovejoy fans that are posting on here I am glad there is not more because your Lovejoy #1 and LHSAlum are about as dimwitted as they come. I have heard more intellect come out of my Jack Russell Terrier than those two morons. Like I said on the other blog, at least we the taxpayers saved some money on the buses down at Lovejoy where we didn’t have to buy the big ones…just the short ones.

Cross, you’re definitely hung up on that soft schedule thing. I give up trying to convince you that it doesn’t matter who we played to get here. We’re here and are well aware of who we’re playing. The question is, does Norcross realize who they’re playing? Love it that we’re the underdog. The pressure is on your guys to prove they belong. There’s just one little problem though, actually 22 problems… Lovejoy offense and defense.

100% certain is not possible until the outcome has been decided. This one has not even started. You will know when it does. Tell me something, why the harsh words ? Name calling is not part of this. Surely we can communicate on a higher plane than that ! Those posters have their opinion and it should be respected. If you wish not to respond, that’s fine but leave the other stuff out, please. Thank You. Back to the subject at hand. Norcross will be wondering what is going on. This has never happened to us before. Who are those guy’s. Seems like there are 12 or 13 of them on the field. Everywhere you turn, there will be Lovejoy. Make no mistake, you are in for something you never dreamed of, or should I say, your worst nightmare.

Norcross is 297-253.
Playing since 1923
5 double digit winning seasons
28 winning seasons in 69 years
0.539 winning %
4 Region Titles
And you think you are about to win a Title ? Against Lovejoy ?
Road record 140-140
1-2 at neutral sites.
Odds are not in your favor.

@ Rob == You want more recent stuff, facts. Since 2000, Norcross has been to the playoffs 7 times, including this year. That’s not bad. This year makes 8 for Lovejoy. Of the 5 double digit winning seasons for Norcross, 3 have happened more recently, 06′, 07′, and 12′. Norcross has won in 12 years 101 games. Thats pretty good too. Lovejoy has won the exact same amount. Lovejoy has lost more in that span, by 4, 48 to 44 for Norcross. The difference is due to Lovejoy’s edge in playoff competition. You talking to me ? Sportsnut-You are really pulling out all of the stops today. I hope you sleep well tonight because there will be a lot of sleepless nights for you and the Lovejoy faithful as Norcross dashes your hopes once again. The Buffalo Bills of GHSA is what you will be. Norcross doesn’t care what happened last week much less 1923 which is erroneous because the school has not been in existence that long ago. All we care about is executing against that backyard defensive scheme that you guys have put together. Your defense will be exposed tomorrow no doubt. You may have gotten away with that goofy stuff against lesser opponents but Norcross will expose it. Write it down. I guarantee a win tomorrow. I am 100% confident that Lovejoy is the lesser team and will be exposed beginning at 8:31pm tomorrow. You haven’t a clue what you are up against. Norcross will beat your cats…42-24.

Lovejoy is certainly not the best we have played and beaten. I would say you rank behind Camden, Colquitt, Full strength North Gwinnett and possibly equal to South Gwinnett. My guess is that you would be a 3rd or 4th seed in our region. I wish you were better because it would help our strngth of schedule for national purposes but the experts see what I see. A good solid athletic team with very little substance. I heard someone liken your defensive schem to a Pop Warner strategy. I happen to agree. I have watched all of your games now and even against the Morrow’s of the world your weaknesses shine through.

As I said, I’m taking on all comers today .7-AAA, go away. No, stay and learn. History has everything to do this. History is the great indicator. It can be used in a variety of ways. In this case, I am using it to show there is not much on their side in terms of their chances based on their history. This is just an exercise. The game will be decided on the field. Allow yourself to think beyond what you see. I assure you there is more.

Sportsnut you want a recent fact? THIS Norcross team is 14-0 and ranked ahead of your Cats. THIS Norcross team humbled Colquitt, while your Cats got bear 14-7. THIS Norcross team is Nationally ranked and top ten in several polls. THIS Norcross team is the best team in the State of Georgia and it is not even close. THIS Norcross team will expose Lovejoy for what they are…a good high school football team that can’t yet compete with the elite.

The only history that will matter after tomorrow is that the NORCROSS BLUE DEVILS will be the State Champs and Lovejoy will be forgotten once again. Because as you know years from now no one remembers the runner up accept the runner up.

I know life is not fair. If life was fair a crowded elevator would not smell different to a midget. But it does and unfortunately for you in this analogy is that Lovejoy is the midget.

If you can see all that, I’m sure your coach will. He should let you be the O/C for saturday. The GHSA has Norcross as having played in 23′, 24′, 25′, 45′, 55′, 56′ and then every year from 62′ to the present. Erroneous, I think not. That back yard defense is good. Much better than yours. You still thinking about what they say about you on the national level ? Just like the others, getting national attention and have not won a thing at home.

The Cross: I’ll be “dimwitted” as they come. That’s absolutely fine. You name call because you can’t use facts in your arguments. Instead of saying “good point but I think….” you call me names. That’s because you don’t have a real argument. Your team is good, I’ve never said anything you said was wrong, my opinion is different, I stated what I knew, what I see online, and the facts. All you got is “Lovejoy has played no one in the past 2 seasons” (Opinion) and I say “Lovejoy’s starters rarely play in the second half during the regular season and they still have lopsided victories” (Fact) You say Kamara is better than Custis (Opinion) I say Custis didn’t play in the second half of seven games and still rushed for over 2000 yards and over 30 TDs (Fact) Looking back on the season, how good was Camden really? Valdosta and Lowndes was out in the first round and LJ beat both the teams that beat them (Fact) Colquitt beat us in our second game and they lost to North Gwinnett but LJ held NG to 6 points and won in a playoff game (Fact). You say LJ had the easiest RD to the DOME but from the second round out LJ opponents finish with a 30-9 record and Norcross opponents finished with a 30-9 (fact) so yeah “easier” Camden County played only 3 teams with records above .500 this season before the playoffs and went 2-1. The two that they beat didn’t even make it out the first round. (Fact) At least ONE of playoff teams LJ played made it out the first round! That’s expert work, that’s stating facts and not just saying “The ‘experts’ rank us higher and our rank our RB better so it MUST be true” That’s what YOU say, that’s the only argument you can make, at least I take the time to check what the experts say. Also, Half of your season was played against teams under .500, The unstoppable force Kamara rushed for 16 times and 104 and one rush was for 47 yards against a 6-4 Peachtree Ridge that was 3-3 at the time so the other 15 rushes were for 57 yard to Peachtree Ridge team that gave up 215 yards to a Parkview RB! (Fact) I’ll do you one better 52 yards against Parkview on 13 carries and one was for 19 so you telling me the number 4 RB in the nation had 12 carries for 31 yards?! (FACT) NG game 19 for 100 yards one carry coming for 50 so 18 other carries went for 50 yards. But here is the LAUGHER. A 4-6 Duluth team held the almighty Kamara to 79 yards!! 79 YARDS RUSHING?? Now you think Kamara is just going to run through LJ? Why? LJ has given up ONE 100 yard rusher and that was to NC last week.

This is why I think LJ will win. I think our Defense can stop your Offense and I don’t think your Offense can stop our Defense. Now this is my dimwitted response, with all my dimwitted facts, because you know I have that Clayton County education so most the time we just talk out the side of our necks because we don’t really follow sports like that

The Cross: Excuses…Excuses…Excuses…we don’t make excuses, we make plays! Custis had the flu last week against NC. 294 yards and 5 touchdowns. Here you go again with assumptions. “Our O-line will Dominate the trenches” (opinion) So, Kamara played most the first half the season with a sprained ankle. Peachtree Ridge was the 8th game of the season! By the way. 132 against Habersham Central and 128 against Mill Creek isn’t that impressive. Kamara’s best game was against a 6-4 Collins Hills’ team that exited in the first round while giving up 66 points to a West Forsyth team that lost to Chatahoochee! ONE of Custis’ best games was in the Semifinals to a red hot NC team and he put up 296 and 5 TDs! Your argument is still invalid

Only this time, it won’t hurt so bad because it really isn’t your team. See, you can rationalize anything. The object of the exercise is to get you to think. So are the points in a football game. You look straight ahead and see what you see. I look straight ahead and can see all around. Forget about the year. Five double digit win seasons in 69 years speaks for itself. The Cross: I’m not comparing the FLU to a sprained ankle at all. Stop skimming through my post and read them if you are going to critique them, they are very informative! What YOU, The Cross, said in YOUR post, (which I took the time to read and take into consideration) was “Kamara had a sprained ankle for MOST the FIRST HALF of the season.” I said they played Peachtree Ridge in the 8th game of the season. Now I know I had a Clayton County Education but I’m pretty sure game 8 is the second half of the season since they play 10 games and last time I checked 8 comes after 5 so your argument once again is INVALID! Like i said 16 Yards, 104 carries and one carry going for 47 yards on a scrub Peachtree Ridge team that didn’t even make the playoffs! If you take away his name and tell anyone else those stats against a team of that caliber, they wouldn’t believe you are talking about the #4 RB in the STATE let alone the country. I say that to say this, don’t speak on things that you do not know. You DON’T know Norcross will win, say you think it, because if you KNOW they will win, tell me which stocks to invest in for the upcoming year!

SN: iBN doesn’t mean anything to me! That is all bout who is recognized at the beginning of the season, because Lassiter is in the top 50 and they play 5 teams with a .500 record and the other teams they played all lost in the first round including Lassiter! On top of that, I gotta call BS on the rating system because that team went 7-3 in the regular season, upset some teams in the playoffs and some how they are one of the best 50 teams in the country.

Lots of trash talk here with fans for each team OVER-estimating their team’s advantage over the other. One of my favorite posters, Sportsnut,, presenting irrelevant stats from a time when most adults here weren’t even born let alone the young men playing the game to The Cross and RobfromNorcross saying Lovejoy would be 3rd or 4th in their region. Lovejoy was robbed against Colquitt as I watched the game online and they dominated North Gwinnett (guess they were missing all 22 starters)? Norcross has played a better quality schedule…even though North Cobb [whom I saw curbstomp Walton in person in September] is better than most think….so Lovejoy has played some good teams as well.

I’m a fan of neither team but I will be at the Dome tomorrow night because I love quality football. Both teams are talented and I look forward to a great game.

Since we want to talk relevant facts and stats lets do so. Since the beginning of the beginning of the season, INCLUDING the loss to Colquitt, LJ found a way to win whether it is defense or offense. Colquitt 14 pts-204 yards of offense. AVG over 350 yards of offense and has only scored LESS than 14 points 1 game this season which was a win against Camden (13-12) Marietta had only given up 30 points three times before Lovejoy (Newnan, North Cobb, and Campbell) and hadn’t scored less that 27 points in EVERY GAME. Scored 15 gave up 36. Lets move to NG Had scored at least 2 touchdowns in EVERY game Against LJ 2 field goals! and finally NC. North Cobb had scored 40 points in every game of the season except for 2 (South Cobb and Campbell) Only 2 schools schools scored over 30 against them (Marietta and Mill Creek) LOVEJOY PUT UP 63! We are not scrubs! we are underrated and you will see how good they are tomorrow!

BamaBornDukie

NC is a fast, athletic team. They handled Walton because all they had to do is stop the Walton RB. Lovejoy has run, pass balance and they couldn’t stack the box with 9-10 against LJ as they did against Walton. With that said, I’ve also seen Norcross play in person. Norcross is better than NC but primarily because of the Norcross defense.. On offense, NC has comparable speed and athleticism to Norcross. Not a RB at the level of Kamara but that #12 Borishade (sp) is legit for NC and the NC QB is better than Norcross’ even though he played badly against LJ.

Should be a great game but you guys sound like my fellow Bama fans that have an excuse for Bama’s loss(es) and excuses for our next opponent’s (Notre Dame) record. My point is that you should respect the opposition because both teams are capable of winning.

lhsalum-Peachtree Ridge??? Kamara had 180 total yards from scrimmage and 2 TD’s in 2.5 quarters. Also Peachtree Ridge would give Lovejoy all they want. Ridge definitely comes second in your region if not first. Two bets for tomorrow…Kamara out plays Custis and Wilber outplays whoever your QB is…gotta admit he wasn’t even impressive enough for me to look up his name. One more bet…Lovejoy gets a minimum of 3 personal fouls and 1 unsportsmanlike conduct.
