Last week, I broke my long-standing rule about picking against Buford. It was a pick I came to regret and a mistake I won’t make again. So look for Buford to beat St. Pius in the Class AAA final and win the ninth state championship in school history. Also expect Sandy Creek and Calhoun to continue their dynasties. Norcross, Gainesville and Eagle’s Landing Christian will pick up their first state titles, and Emanuel County Institute will end Dooly County’s run and collect its second championship in six years.
Congratulations go out to Ron Clark of Marietta, who was last week’s winner in the High School Football Pickoff contest. Clark was the only contestant to correctly pick 12 of the 14 semifinal games and earn 24 points. Remember that this is the final week of the season, and each correct pick is worth five points. Click here to participate in this week’s contest.

@ GTVET == Only those who do not know the past are doomed to repeat it. That said, it is a defensive struggle. Buford got the 3 before half and that might be enough to spark them. Pius is playing very good D. More impressive in my eye.

All u Lovejoy fans can stop all this how many yards u guys held us to and understand this 14-7 we won period.U guys have had a great year and made it back to the title, congrats but you will still be an after thought at the end of this season like u was at the begining.U won’t have 16 returning starters next year so enjoy these last 2 years cause u guys have had a good run.And another thing i think u guys r on our schedule again next year so it looks like u wont go undefeated next year either but thats another story that i will get in to in june or july

@ Wildhawg2012 == You know the truth and you just spoke it. Everything is just as you stated. Now that we agree, let us enjoy it. I know it feels good to know that you were the only team to beat us. We like Colquit. They showed us how good we were at that time. We improved. Thank You. I am glad that you finally admit that we were that in your mind and the minds of many others. We thank you for that too. In reality, who’s the afterthought now ?

Buford stepped it up in the 4th but it was a fight. Another example of the Wing T not being able to play catch up. Pius was not prepared to pass when needed and it cost them. Their D played great. Offense needs to diversify.

They were down7points..Not like it was an huge mountain to climb. That said Buford and St.Pius were two very evenly matched teams. The D for both played very good and adds to the statement Defense wins Championships.I believe St.Pius using up the time outs early may have haunted them a bit.GOOD football game either way.Congrats to Buford …..

Add Gainesville to the champions list. From Gainesville to Buford to Norcross, three champions within a half hour of each other.

Wildhawg: I only mentioned that game because it shows how dominate the defense was even in a loss

Less than 9 hours to kick-off. A very focused, well prepared Norcross will take on the highly athletic Lovejoy Cats. Norcross will win this game in the trenches…the Lovejoy Cats will spend another year as the runner up. I love this game!
