The QB from Arabia Mountain deserves to be on this team. Quinton Turner is the best CB in the state.

I will presume that adults are making the comments on this post so with that being said, please keep in mind that you are discussing children here and there is no need to criticize a child especially over the actions taking by an adult (coach).

@dekalbfootball

How does boosting stats matter, when the All-Region Team and Player of the Year names are voting on by the coaches? You do realize that each team plays each other. Also, that Coach Wimes is one man, therefore, he has one vote.

Secondly, to say Ray Tillman is not that good, sound similar to the student/fan/observer that sits in the stands and never shaded any sweat, or endured a August practice in their life. When you make such statement, you must have had a reason.

Lastly, if he was not that good, I guess several college coaches, including some in the SEC would not be courting him.

**Drops the mic and walks off**

Congrats Ray!! Let doubt fuel your success!

Tucker should have J.Williams, Dallas Rivers, and Solomon Jackson. The rest are coaches favorites.

Have you seen ray tilmans highlight reel. Are you kidding me. I can give you 5 LBs in dekalb better then him and show you film. This is the same coach wimes who had 6 players with 100 plus tackles on the 2009 team. how in the hell do 6 players acount for almost 900 tackles. Stats have alot to do with the voting say what you want. And you say when the offers come in?….. Well where are they because there sure are alot of 2014 LBs who already have them. You thinks he’s that good then look at his reel then look at Carlos garrett from Mlk,Josh patrick SWD,Jacarthy Mack Mlk,Hector stanback Mlk,Tyson wiliams cedar grove,Dedrick dukes tucker, rashad panye stephenson Bryant thomas Swd,Kight dallas stephenson, hell even his own teammate wesley williams. All these guys are clearly better then him on tape and film does not lie. Dekalb raider you sound like someone who doesent even watch football i am a proud allum of Stephenson high school and played football there. I just know talent and know BS. This man has had 2 DOPs in the last 4 years? how is that? he boost states of course if dumb coaches see a player with 100 plus tackles they will vote. if we had a real statician in dekalb if would be a different story

@dekalbfootball

The more you speak, the less credible you are. Head Coaches vote on Player of the Year and All Region Teams. In addition, Tilman and Marquavious Johnson, DPOTY and OPOTY, were voted unanimously.

The same guy that said stats are padded by coaches, is trying to use a highlight reel as his basis. Really? Do you realize a highlight real does not illustrate everything a player can do? Five minutes of season highlights, does not account for the 60 or so plays per game.

While Kight Dallas, Jacarthy Mack, Hector Stanback, Wesley Williams, and Detrick Dukes are good football players, the coaches decided that Ray Tillman was the most dominant player of the Region. From a playing standpoint, the kid has a motor, innate ability to locate the ball, and gives 110 percent on each play.

Furthermore, if you knew what obstacle he had to overcome to get back on the field, you would be more impressed. I agree with Panther said, I like for you to take your feelings out of the equation, and celebrate the accomplishments of these student athletes.

Finally, in respect to Coach Gartrell and his staff, I will reserve all comments in regards to the Stephenson football program. Coach Gartrell does great things over there and I do hope that they will eventually win a state championship.

As for Coach Wimes, he is a personal friend of mind because his ultimate goal is getting kids an opportunity to further their education. He is a very approachable game will allow you to watch every game and count each tackle, sack, tackle for loss,etc.

Dekalb football

December 8th, 2012

Well since you said he had to overcome a obstacle you just proved my point. Coaches put emotions into thier vote instead of strickly football. You say what.you want highlight tapes show production and all the ones above show more production then his. So you talk about credibilaty how does any obstacle win you a award you dont deserve. He is a good kid. Also a good player. But if we count obstacles as votes then its no wonder he won. This had nothin to do with football. Hell hes not the only kid who had to go through something to be where he is.

Im happy for the kid I really am. But I am honest an he was not the best defender in that region period I jut call it like it is. And wimes dosent have to show me every sack,tfl or anything I go to games myself.

Heck we use to get mad because we made more plays than he gave us credit for ! Congrats to you Ray Tillman , I know what kind of coach you play for, and I hope you all continue to grow as a program … for the grown men who obviously are children judging by there grammar and usage sad , sad, sad

@truth, and all who accused coaches of padding stats

Question? What don’t you understand about the All-Region Team and Player of the Year awards are voted by Coaches. That means each individual coach submitted a vote; Tillman and Johnson were unanimous picks.
Secondly, this padding stats thing is getting out of hand? What type of imbecilic accusation is that.

Case in point, Stephenson has a total of 1105 total tackles this season in 12 games, which averages to 92 tackles per game. Out of the 1105, 600 were solo tackles. In short, that means the team averaged 50 solo tackles (credited) per game.
The average offense will run about 50-70 plays per game. Stephenson’s leading tackler-bythe way-has 112 total tackles for the season.
I can go on and on, but my point is don’t say someone pads stats, when you have no kind of evidence to support your statements.
