By Score Atlanta

Monroe Area 47, South Effingham 8: Monroe Area raced to a 31-0 halftime lead and built a 40-0 advantage going into the fourth quarter as it coasted past visiting South Effingham. Kwan Brooks opened the scoring with a 37-yard touchdown run before adding a 17-yard scoring jaunt in the third quarter. Junior Reed also had two rushing touchdowns for the Hurricanes. Ridgeland 45, Mary Persons 14: Darrell Bridges rushed for four touchdowns to lead host Ridgeland past Mary Persons. The game’s first three scores came via Bridges’ legs and Evan Courtney added a 44-yard field goal as the first-half clock expired to account for a 24-0 Panthers’ lead. Bridges added a 31-yard scoring jaunt in the third quarter before Vonn Bell and Shaqualm McCoy had touchdown runs in the fourth quarter to put away Mary Persons.

It’s a shame that the Burke County Ranters won’t have anything to post now. Creek applied a beat down last night.

I’ll miss the Burke folks. I like to use them as examples of how not to write in English with my kids.

I’m going to miss the loudmouths from burke county as well. They had been talking real real big all season long. Many of them had been wanting to play Sandy Creek practically all season. Well they got what they asked for last night.

Went to the Burke vs Sandy_Creek game last night as a follower of neither team, just a fan wishing for a decent game. Decided to sit on the visitors side at the Battlefield. What a mistake, and what a joke of a venue. Waynesboro packed the place to the brim due to lackluster seating. whats up with the lame stands? And the ones that were there were nearly EYE Level to the field. the absolute worst venue I have ever been to a high School football game in my life, and I have been to games all across Ga. A close second would be a tiny field I visited in Louisville, Ga. once years ago. Fayette co. should be absolutely ashamed of their lack of seating, and I for one, will never go back there. Game was decent though, what little I could see of it. I will be going to the Lovejoy versus North Cobb matchup next time. Great seating at 12 oaks.

How about them RIDGELAND PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! From start to finish against Mary Persons, Panthers ground just ran all over them and when the Bulldogs thought they could go to the air they got intercepted 3 times. Ridgeland’s Offense wear’s you down while the defense makes big plays all over the field. So GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!

Crabtastic is right! Sandy Creek needs to add more stands to the Battlefield or stop winning so much. The stands generally accomodate the needs of a 3A or 4A sized school. However when you get deeper into the playoffs or like last night have #1 vs #3 in the state playing, the crowd does grow. People like the Crabtastic, who are unaffilated with either program show up and we are glad to have them. It’s kind of like church on Easter Sunday. Folks who don’t go to the church all year show up and complain about how crowded it is. Crab, please come back to the Battlefield more often. We will apply your ticket money to the Sandy Creek Building Fund For More Stands. Personally I felt like they should have cancelled the Falcon game or pushed back the SEC Championship game to allow those two fine teams Burke & SC to play this championship caliber game in the GA Dome where there is room to accomodate.

@NoDistrictLinesInDekalb … You are an idiot. There’s not 1 single apartment complex in the Sandy Creek school system. Tyrone ordinance doesn’t allow for them. Maybe you should come visit the area, it isn’t cheap to live here yet alone rent something just for kid to play football. MORON!

If there are no district lines in Dekalb then why did MLK,Stephenson and others report 29 and 30 athletic transfers? Are you saying that a student can attend any school inthe county that he or she wishes? Sounds a little disorganized.

The recruiters/coaches from both Alabma and Georgia didn’t complain about the view. They were standing along the SC sideline taking a look at the next class of Patriots they will be offering scholarships too. We don’t worry about the pretentiousness of having “stands” to make vistiors happy. We just kick thier A – - and send them home so they don’t want to come back…lol

I don’t know why everyone talks down on Sandy Creek. Fayette County has many great athletes and it shows. Starr’s Mill went to the dome a couple years ago and now Whitewater is one game away. We don’t have to recruit because we have great neighborhoods and some of the best public schools in Georgia. Parents are sold on education, location and low crime rates. That’s why I moved here (from D.C.) and that is why my kids go to Sandy Creek.

I would like to congratulate Creek on a great game last night. I knew this was going to be a tough but exciting ball game. Fans on both sides got a chance to see a very competitive game. I knew Creek had a good team and last night the better team won. The Bears will be back next year we only have a few seniors. I wish the best for Creek and the rest of the teams that are left in the playoffs. First down creek take care and I wish your team the best and don’t follow up the haters.

Great game at SC Friday night. A win is a win. Burke has nothing to be ashamed of. They played hard. SC is just a great team. My only criticism of SC is use your other talented players. #8 was exhausted, should have had #16 running some kick offs. Use your three good backs throughout the game because the QB was not good that first half. They couldn’t stop the run. The three backs and two fullbacks could have punished them to death. QB passes were short, he missed a few easy passes, but he was ok in second. I think SC can do more damage throwng short passes and using their speed.

RobertTheRecruiter you hit the nail right on the head. I was thinking the same thing. Most of BC players was playing both ways and the run was beginning to where them down. If SC would have ran the ball a lot more the score would not have been so close and BC really would have had something to whin about.

Creek won the toss today versus Monroe Area. SC does not have to travel to Walton County to play the Purple Hurricanes. Creek’s fans can travel to a closer destination, hopefully Northgate H.S. in Coweta County, which has the capacity for a semi-final game. More information to come from SC on Monday.

What a great game plan SC came up with as the game progressed Fri. night. BC’s defense had some very big boys. #69 limped all night with a lot of heart, and #45 was a hell of a man. BC used 4 or more of their good athletes both ways most of the night. You do that and SC will beat you every time. The coaching staff at SC does what they have to give their team the best chance to win the game. They will kick off short need be it without any shame if they think that is what it takes to keep from having a run back. I call that smart coaching. I agree that the QB has sputtered at times in the last couple of games but he is very smart and he always comes through when it counts. I love Friday night’s at the Battlefield. GO CREEK.

@KD: SC does not have the 6,000 seat capacity required by the GHSA for a semi-final game unfortunately. The seat width per seat has to be 24″, which makes it even more difficult. Went to a semi-final game 5 years ago at Northgate when Eric Berry palyed at Creekside vs Griffin. that would be the best first option. 2nd option would be to bring in temporary seating, which the GHSA allows, but that is expensive and would be the responsibility of the host school. Creek obviously has aplan that was acceptable to the GHSA. Otherwise, they would not have announced the coin toss results this afternoon. Hopefully, they will share the plan with the fans on Monday.

AAAA group needs 4,000 seat capacity (5A and 6A need 6,000). Not sure what our current Battlefield capacity is (found one link that stated 3,700, but that sounds high). In any event, we’ll be ready!! Need to find the $$$, though!
