Predictions: Expect Norcross, Northside to win big quarterfinal matchups

If you didn’t know there were two more weeks remaining in the high school football season, you might think some of the games this weekend were state championship games. Camden County-Norcross, Northside-Tucker, Burke County-Sandy Creek, Buford-Carver, Cartersville-Thomson and Brooks County-Calhoun are all title-worthy games, but they are only quarterfinals. Look for Norcross, Northside, Sandy Creek, Buford, Thomson and Calhoun to clear major hurdles on the road to the Georgia Dome (Dec. 14-15).

Congratulations go out to Bob Sosebee of Commerce, who was last week’s winner in the High School Football Pickoff contest. Sosebee was one of two contestants to correctly pick the winner in 11 of 15 games and won the tiebreaker for the closest guess of the score in the Norcross-South Gwinnett game. We will find out by the end of the night if Lovejoy, Norcross, and Parkview are as good as they are being advertised. I looking forward a hard fought game in Kingsland. I expect the cats to win, but will gladly tip my hat to Norcross if they come down and end our season. Don’t think it is going to be easy for them though. Go Cats.

South Georgia schools just don’t have the speed to keep up with kids from the metro Atlanta area.
Norcross 27-21 in a hard fought game. Camden is a tad bit overrated, and I expect Norcross to get past them in a tough one ONLY because it’s at Camden. Those hicks would be done for if they had to come up here

Man you may want to check the game film Camden and Colquitt are two of the fastest teams in the state. Guess tonight ww will know for sure when they play. And Mr. Smith Passed away last night. I Hope it doesn’t become a distraction knowing how closely related he was to the team over the last 30 years or so.
Whats with the name calling… Last time someone called us hicks was Miami Central needless to say they had a long bus ride home chewing on that crow.

To be a champion NSWR, you have to BEAT a Champion.

A 2011 undefeated perfect season State Champion will be there TONIGHT!!!

A once underdog Muhammad Ali was thought to lose to the larger hard hitting George Foreman and we all know what happened in that heavy weight battle.

One thing is for sure, WE ARE TUCKER!!!!!

Calling Camden fans “hicks” is hardly a stretch. I never said anything against the team, just that they’re overrated and haven’t beaten a top ten team all year. Camden is a good team, but that’s about it

We don’t make excuses…. though bad calls do happen. Funny how fans who actually come to Camden to watch their team play ALMOST always seem to post how friendly an atomsphere it was. Hillgrove fans mentioned a few weeks ago. I smell a little jealously on your part but good luck and have a safe trip if you are coming town.

Quite disgraceful and tasteless to talk that way about a man who just passed. I know him personally and cant think of anyone I hold in higher regard than Frank Smith. If you knew him you would understand but then again from your comments seem racist so you may not like him because of his color.

@ATLien
To make the comments that you made just shows that you are a backwards jackmunch that is talking out of his fourth point of contact. You have no idea of what Mr. Smith has done for this team in the past 30 years or so and how much he cared for Camden County High in general. An avid supporter and a true fan who would never have ever stooped to your level and made a comment such as you did.
I give Norcross their due and I know that they are a good team and if they win it will be becasue hopefully they have outplayed Camden and not because of something else. I do not think that anyone can hang their heads if they lose to a quality team and they gave it their best on the field.
All I understand from your comment is that you are making an uneducated guess at the winner and trying to sound like you know what you are talking about. Whoever wins wins. But for you to say the things that you say means that you are not a fan of the game and all that goes with it. You are just on this blog trying to stir up some poison. Well the real fans will enjoy the game for what it is, tip our hat to the winner, and be proud of the boys on the field, and from this point on ignoring idiots like you who only spew nonesense.

3 complaints I have about South Georgia fans, although I will gladly make the concession that you all support your teams with passion… 1) You drive the same way down peachtree that you do on a gravel road and clog our city’s streets, although this has not been much of an issue these past two years because your only representation at the dome has been Savannah Christian and Colquitt 2) You’ll cheer for black athletes but won’t vote for a black president 3) Despite the success of your athletic programs you fail to adequately prepare your student athletes for college matriculation, much less graduation. Too many of your best players end up with useless vocational degrees because those tracks keep them eligible and allow for time that would otherwise be devoted to academic instruction to be spent watching film or lifting weights. You can keep your Jim Crow endzone bleachers, too! Go Norcross, Parkview, St. Pius, and Stephenson! Let them roll out the basketballs south of Macon, because we all know they need some extra time to get ready for us on the hardcourt!

It’s pretty obvious that Metro Fan’s IQ is barely above 10, his credibility is near zero, and he is a bigoted individual. He is the type who would call everyone who disagrees with him a “bigot” while actually fitting the description and definition of that word himself. That #2 statement sums it up and tells me everything I need to know about him. Poor, pitiful, pathetic soul! I wonder if all metro ATL high school fans are proud of him?

BTW, Camden Co. is not the only one who lost a “prized possession” this week. Colquitt Co. lost the ex-coach who the field in Moultrie is named after. That would be Tom “Babe” White. He was revered by all who played for him, and even those who did not. He will be missed, and he loved his football, especially Packer football. RIP, Mr. White, and enjoy the game Friday night from the best seat in the house, high up above.

@ CamdenAlum !992 == Lovejoy will come to play ball. I am sure North will do the same. This is an opportunity for Lovejoy or North to show what they are made of. The Final Four awaits. This should be a good game. Haynes is a top notch Qb in my opinion. Lovejoy’s D will have their hands full trying to contain him. Maybe they should just hope to slow him down as it seems no one else has been able to. North beat Colquit and Lovejoy did not so that in itself is an indication of the type of team they have. Much respect to North.

@Kevroc == Lovejoy is by no means Grayson. Come to the game and see for yourself.

Dum-Bass, two questions… Can you define matriculation without using google or a dictionary? Thought so… Now that you looked it up, can you explain to the rest of the blog readers how schools like Camden and Colquitt annually graduate dozens of primarily black student athletes from their football teams who do not even MATRICULATE at 2 or 4 year schools? Once they’ve filled your bleachers for four years they can fix your tractors and plow your fields for a lifetime, but God forbid they get a real education and some perspective about the bigoted, myopic, hopelessly backward places they grew up. They might even become… UPPITY! Of course you took umbrage with the second point from my first post! You can go ahead and take the Romney sign out of your yard and the stars and bars off your flag pole. You lost, and you will lose again tonight. Make no mistake about it, Georgia high school football is more than a game. Metro ATL puts South Georgia to shame on signing day and on the field.

That’s right AJC, keep picking against Allatoona. Once again, too much TJ Herron for our opponents tonight, he will go over 100 yards and Bucs will win by at least a TD. Also, Burke Co to shock Sandy Creek who has not been in a close game all season.

Metro Fa, Really? You threw a whole lot of something in there, which has nothing to do with football tonight. Education starts at home, that is where you start to prepare your kids for life. Sports is just that an extra curricular activity. Since I am from the metro area. maybe you should have been paying attention in school. Review the results from the election county by county. Bottom line Ga voted Republican like they have for the past few elections. I will leave the race comment alone, has no place on this site. As far as the traffic I see everyday on my way to work, there are thousands of different tags from every state, has nothing to with south Ga. Traffic in ATL is horrible. Now to the game, I expect the Norcross/Camden game to be a hard fought battle. Colquitt/Parkview will be a hard hitting affair, with in my humble opinion 2 of the better overall defenses in the state. Lovejoy/North Gwinnett will be a great affair as well. North Cobb/Mill Creek is an intrigung game. These games will have something for every high school football fan. Safe travels to everyone and may the players be safe on the field.

When Hillgrove went to Camden 2 years ago, every Hillgrove fan I talked to said they had a wonderful time. Of course we won that year which made it all the better, but even if we had lost like a couple of weeks ago, there is nothing but good things to say about Camden fans, the facilities the town and the way we were all treated. I had a great time there two years tailgating in the field and having Camden folks come by and wish us well, Camden folks take pride in their team, nothing at all wrong with that. Good Luck.
