Predictions: Expect Norcross, Northside to win big quarterfinal matchups

If you didn’t know there were two more weeks remaining in the high school football season, you might think some of the games this weekend were state championship games. Camden County-Norcross, Northside-Tucker, Burke County-Sandy Creek, Buford-Carver, Cartersville-Thomson and Brooks County-Calhoun are all title-worthy games, but they are only quarterfinals. Look for Norcross, Northside, Sandy Creek, Buford, Thomson and Calhoun to clear major hurdles on the road to the Georgia Dome (Dec. 14-15).

Congratulations go out to Bob Sosebee of Commerce, who was last week’s winner in the High School Football Pickoff contest. Sosebee was one of two contestants to correctly pick the winner in 11 of 15 games and won the tiebreaker for the closest guess of the score in the Norcross-South Gwinnett game. @stooge It means it take offense to or feel insulted by something in that context. @Tiger5 What about my post should not be protected by the first amendment to the constitution and permissable in a public media forum?

ATLien…what an a**hole to make a comment like that about a man you never meant…Do us all a favor and stay off the board if thats the type of comments you have to deliver.

Metrofan…you know nothing about south GA athletes and how they perform in school. Contrary to what you may think there is more to life than football and just as many of these students athletes go on to make significant contributions to society as do those from “North GA”. What a f***ing idiot.

Norcross fans..welcome to Camden County you have a very good team and we are looking forward to a good game. Hope you enjoy our southern hospitality, glad to have you here.

@ Metro Fan: There is absolutely nothing illegal about your posts; just immature, offensive, and classless.

I’m still a bit hung up on the notion of “Jim Crow” endzone seating being prevalent to stadiums in the lower South but whatever.

Everybody in 6A is talking about the other three games but I think North Cobb-Mill Creek will be a really good one. Many times, games with big build ups (eg. Norcross-Camden) prove to be boring. Hope not, but it could happen. Travel mercies to all on the road before and after the games.

@Stooge – he means the end zones are like the balcony in the old Colquitt Theater.

“Metro Fans” are pitiful. We played @ mighty Stephenson in the playoffs a couple of years ago. Packed the stands with Packer fans from 200 miles away. Stephenson maybe had 100 “fans” in attendance. Same situation in Newnan last week. Pitiful.

@METROfan

In common law jurisdictions, slander refers to a malicious, false and defamatory spoken statement or report, while libel refers to any other form of communication such as written words or images. Most jurisdictions allow legal actions, civil and/or criminal, to deter various kinds of defamation and retaliate against groundless criticism. Related to defamation is public disclosure of private facts, which arises where one person reveals information that is not of public concern, and the release of which would offend a reasonable person. “Unlike libel, truth is not a defense for invasion of privacy

So depending on how you want to take it, you are breaking a few laws or at least trudging in the gray and all I have to prove is that the written text that you provided is offensive to any group or individual. So you can say what you want to say until someone feels that it is an attack on their character or in other words, how about keeping your comments related to football on this football blog?

Now for a final football comment before I hit the road to go see my cats play. (I am driving from Waynesboro myself) Good luck to all, be safe in your travels, may all of the players be protected tonight and may we all remember the tenets of sportsmanship.

Oh yeah GO CATS!!!

Sportsnut not sure what you meant by Lovejoy is by no means Grayson. Are you saying Lovejoy is is a lot better than Grayson or vice versa? Either way I disagree. I believe both of Lovejoy and Grayson are equally strong. I will be at the game my son plays OLB for NG.

I will say I have no complaints about Camden fans. When we played down there last year, the only problem we had was 1 rogue fan that was probably drunk on the visitors side. Other than that they treat you really well and just cheer for their team. Now Lowndes is a little different

Permit an old dyed-in-the-wool south GA redneck to jump into this fray re south vs. north football, et al.: I’m a born-redneck, albeit a highly educated, Ivy League one but STILL a redneck. On the rare occasions that I have an opportunity to visit folks way down in SE Georgia I marvel at their resiliency and hard work. Yeah, they still talk funny, drive crazy, are not fashion hounds, don’t have an urban outlook but they are, thank God, still my people and always will be.
To “y’all south of the “gnat line” (keep them, please!). hang in there; you still have an ardent admirer and fellow redneck now living in this hell-hole traffic infested metropolis they call Atlanta…
Selah
BTW: I think Camden will also win tonight 3rd. qtr.: 20-19, Camden leads…
