Driving up from Florida with my son to catch the Ware/Stephenson game. No one thinks Ware has a chance but don’t count them out. They are extremely balanced. A fumble here or there and it could make the outcome different.

Just made it to Kingsland for the Norcross game against Camden County… great weather for a big game, we need to schedule more of these Florida teams! Big bonus they have the internets, and cell phones work as long as you connect your cell phone with a string to whatever other cell phone you want to talk with… Hope for no injuries on either team, and for a clean well-played game.

Well, looks like GPB is showing that state-wide appealing game between Lovejoy-NG tonight. Wow, that should get hundreds of viewers! My suggestion that they change their name to North GA Public Broadcasting still stands. Their marketing dept. is right on top of things. As might be expected my donations stopped last year when they were doing the same thing. Of all the games they could have picked they chose NG-Lovejoy. Once again, Wow, just Wow! Thank God for the internet!!!!!

Sorry “57Cat” just now saw your question directed to me. That game is on GPB tonite and I guess that would be only the DTV subscribers who have the GA Public Broadcasting channels on their lineup, which I do out of Augusta, even though I am in SC. I get both SC and GA public broadcasting networks.

A Packer Fan’s opinion…..Packers have played Camden in 2009, 2011, 2012
I cannot believe that anyone would pick Norcross over Camden. I watched the Norcross/SG game from last week and I was not that impressed with the Blue Devils. I honestly don’t have anything against the team and I am sure they are great athletes with good coaches but they’re in for a rude awakening when they face the speed, violence and dicipline of Camden football. Mark my words, “Norcross will be embarressed!”
I hope that Norcross makes me eat my words and rises-up to take down the Blue Cats.
If we make it passed Parkview (and we should), I would much rather face Norcross than Camden.
My prediction….Kamara gains no more than 50 yrds rushing…Camden wins 35-7

NSWR scored last TD with about 25 secs left on a 4th down pass. Evened things up with Tucker looks like. Game over 23-20 NSWR. Glad I didn’t have to listen to that Tucker announcer for a whole game. Was in and out on the net and boy is he obnoxious, and hard to listen to. He kept saying, “coach” just about everytime he said something to his sidekick, and kept calling NS as just Warner Robins. That’s a big ol’ “NONO” on the NSWR homefield, don’t care who you are.

On the NSWR TD possession, phantom holding and a no-call offensive PI in the endzone on an interception. Then an obvious offensive pushoff on TD play in front of the backjudge. At least be fair about it, that is why GHSA is consistently laughed at by other states when it comes to officiating. Here in TX we hear it all the time how bad it actually is there for certain teams, especially at their homes.

It’s natural for most losing teams and their fans to think the refs cheated against their team and therefore that’s the ONLY reason they lost the game. Happens all the time. Hats off to another strong team from Tucker. Of course, the Tigers pulled defeat from the jaws of victory. Nonetheless, these kids just will not quit. There is talent at Tucker. They are well-coached. They execute. I like teasing everyone. Those guys are one of the best programs in the state, without a doubt. Great heart. Every Northside-Tucker game has been a classic. Those young men did not disappoint.

Of course it was the refs in the Tucker/NSWR game. It couldn’t have been the fumble in the 4th quarter or the big return they gave up when they had the game won. Come on guys get a life. North Cobb played well but don’t kid yourself – MC shot themselves in the head not just the foot! Turnovers were the name of the game and MC was like -100!!! Okay, that’s an exaggeration but they had 7 or 8 at critical points. North Cobb deserves to move on as they are a good team that didn’t make mistakes.

I could give a rat’s rear about a Tucker or a NSWR….I do not know one person at either program, so I am objective as can be. I don’t even think that the refs do it on purpose, they are human, they make mistakes…unfortunately, those mistakes can be untimely and impact outcomes of games…it happened in that game…I am not saying that is why they lost. I am just saying that got some bad calls. You do agree that there is a possibility of refs making bad calls, huh?

Northside out coached and out plyed Tucker in the fourth quarter leaving the press box Tucker coaches are a real class act. Hugged me and told me that the better team won tonight. They also gave us there praises for the semi’s. Great game by two great teams. Tucker seemed to be getting tired playing guys both sides of the ball. ****NGHS09****no, was not sent in your direction, as I am on your side when a team’s players act like “goons and thugs” and their coach allows it. Those I am referring to(I pointed out two) are always the ones blaming a loss on the refs, even though there were much bigger things that contributed to the loss. Yes, refs do make bad calls all the time, and it usually evens out over a season, and sometimes a game. It goes both ways, but too many things happen in a game that can cause a different outcome even in the first half.

Another great game with NSWR. Congrats to the. On their win. I hate we has to meet in the quarterfinals and not the Dome. We to find away to be on opposite sides of the bracket.
Congratulations to The Mighty Tucker Tigers for another great season, and to coach Lamar in his first season. You had those kids ready to play and just came up one play short against another good program and team.
On the the refs, I seem a few missed calls both ways, they could have been penalties but if the ref don’t pul out the flag it not !! If we don’t fumble the ball we win the game easy IMO. Had a muffed punt and three fumble that Northside recovered inside our 20.

@sportsnut…now I know why you never responded to my question the other day regarding Lovejoy players attitudes and childish behavior LOL Yall wooped up on us, but got away with some unbelievable stuff. Amazing how reserved and gentle the Lovejoy’s coach is, but his players actions are disappointing considering their athletic abilities. Norcross vs Lovejoy would make for a showcase title. All my props go to yall, but Haynes was hurt the entire week and still got up after every big hit he took. Great season for the Bulldogs though and it is almost unfathomable what they accomplished with all the injuries, lack of students, coaches that left, etc. Proud for sure, and congrats Lovejoy!

Thanks jvillbil, Propst’s philosophy is to play the toughest schedule he can play during the regular season and be ready to play come playoff time. He does it every year. Now we’ll have to hear all week how Norcross beat us in a 3 quarter scrimmage when we rested banged up players. Should be a very good game

Well in 2007 we played NSWR in finals and had the lead until 1 minute to go, so this Ware team plays a lot like that team with a lot of heart. We’ll just have to see. NSWR is the real deal, and we have a good defense, we were the only team to post a shutout tonight in the state and only giving up a little over 7 a game. So hopefully we’ll win the coin toss and see what happens. Go Gators!

Absolutely disgusted by the lack of class and sportsmanship displayed by Lovejoy. I suspected it last week, but witnessed it in full in the game I saw tonight.
Lovejoy obviously has the size advantage over anyone. I still haven’t seen North Cobb or Colquitt with my own eyes so I can’t say who I truly believe will win in the semis. However, I know for a fact that I will be cheering against Lovejoy. I was cheering for the Cobb teams already, but now I just hope Lovejoy gets it handed to them next week. #40 has as much talent as I’ve ever seen a high school player have, but when you flip off the other team in the middle of the field of play I cannot respect your game anymore. Go ahead sportsnut, I know you’ll come to their defense. I just hope that if you actually have a tangible connection to the program that you will get in these kids ears and let them know that they aren’t impressing anyone with the trash talking and stare downs.

I cannot believe that anyone would pick Norcross over Camden. I watched the Norcross/SG game from last week and I was not that impressed with the Blue Devils. I honestly don’t have anything against the team and I am sure they are great athletes with good coaches but they’re in for a rude awakening when they face the speed, violence and dicipline of Camden football. Mark my words, “Norcross will be embarressed!”
I hope that Norcross makes me eat my words and rises-up to take down the Blue Cats.
If we make it passed Parkview (and we should), I would much rather face Norcross than Camden.
My prediction….Kamara gains no more than 50 yrds rushing…Camden wins 35-7

Congratulations to Norcross, Lovejoy, Colquitt and North Cobb. Biggest surprise is Lovejoy to me. Sportsnut gets exonerated. The Cross, much to my amazement, also gets to crow. I have just returned from a convention, and am completely a blank slate regarding any of the games. Betcha there’s some Camden fans at the next Norcross game. Some real fans down there. But, again, congratulations to the winners.

@ Colquitt Fan…I think the refs were terrified to call an unsportsmentlike penalty on Lovejoy becaus they turned their head on every single one of them. I counted 5 late hits out of bounds, 7 unsportsmenlikes, and a partridge and a pear tree! The refs even blamed a NG player with an unsportsmenlike penalty on a drive that NG was driving nicely and the penalty killed the drive. It was called on NG, but it was Lovejoy who sh*t talked and ran their mouth while hovering over scott as he tried to get back to the huddle. Refs were scared LOL Interesting how Lovejoy was called for those penalties when playing @ Colquitt, but when playing @ home they could play like wild animals and do whatever they please. Refs were scared LOL.

I will kneel at The Cross! I called all the games but Norcross-Camden. So, it will be Colquitt at Norcross and North Cobb at Lovejoy in the semis. I’m going go with the underdogs in both and hope for a North Cobb-Colquitt final in the Dome.
I hope Ware County wins the toss; would like to run over to Waycross and see that game.

Actually it would probably be harder to beat Camden twice in one year than to beat Norcross once. Camden would be more prepared for the Packers now, but Norcross has not seen the Packers and don’t know what to expect. Watching film is a lot different than the real face to face action.

Good Game between Camden/Norcross flipped between it and Loveloy/N.Gwinnett it looked like Lovejoy just smothered NG and would have been penalized much more if outside Twelve Oaks…either way that “D” was nasty! Congrats to Norcross you played well and that #6 is a beast….I did see one bad call on the TD where the receiver came back in bounds…. How did the refs not see the Pylon get kicked into the field of play??? after that Camden looked like it was not going to happen for them and they were right….Great Games tonight Congrats to the winners and those that came a little short…looks like some really good matchups….I think we may have a Norcross/Lovejoy (6A) final

@Dad…I never suggested or mentioned the refs lost NG the game. Not even remotely. Assumptions are silly to make lol. I’m talking about the garbage display of keeping the game centered around football instead of letting bushleague banter and gestures happen. There’s no blaming anyone for the loss but Lovejoy’s defense. Good football game that was poorly regulated and the team that made the most mistakes ended up on the short end of the stick. My complaints are geared towards upholding the integrity of the game…IT IS VERY SIMPLE.

To all who say Lovejoy plays dirty or acts like animals. Lovejoy plays football. Period. I knew the complaining would start immediately after the game. You can not expect a kid of 16-18 not to play with passion and then accuse them of wrong doing when they out play you. You were told before hand what was coming. North came to play and held Lovejoy to it’s 3rd lowest point total of the season. Cograts on a fine season North. All I have to say now is NEXT.

Go look fot the elbow to the head and the shove by the bald-headed coach. It’s a serious problem when the announces on GPB are in shock. Watch the replays and see for yourself. If you can’t see the problem with this, and you consider this horsesh*t play to be “passion”, then you’ll never get it.

@Sportsnut….I’d imagine it would be nearly impossible to gain yards on offense when your primary offensive threat that accounts for 80% of the offensive output is hampered by a bum leg; which he’s had for weeks. But never once did he quit or shy away from contact. Real tough kid. NG was wayy overmatched and we all saw it. BUT that’s not my argument. Avoid it all you like…makes no difference. It’s not hard to understand.

@georgia87 – they must have really been off their game that night. I’m a UGA grad, live in North Fla, went to Ware Co and pull for S. GA teams, but I follow all classifications very closely and love to study their records, stats players, ect have for years. I know Jefferson has had really good teams over the years and Commerce is a big rival. Just couldn’t figure out what happened. Thanks for the input.

Proctor started spotlighting Lovejoy players doing this crap, instead of calling the game, and it was literally 3 or 4 players simultaneously every play. Like “Fo Real” said, it doesn’t matter how good you are, you certainly don’t do that stuff or allow your players to embarass themselves like that.

If lovejoy commits that many penalties against a team like norcross or camden they would be in world of hurt in the game of field position. Against good teams you can commit those many penalties and still be ok. But not against an excellent team.

As Tucker fans prepare for the big girl’s basketball game against North Atlanta HS Tuesday night, one (undefeated) coach continues to march towards what could be his second straight state championship (not common in the history of Georgia football. Former Tucker head coach Franklin Stephens continues to display why he is one of the top coaches in the state. Lamar County is 12-0-1 and Franklin Stephens is two games away from hoisting another State Championship. In the meantime, it is girl’s basketball coach at Tucker and across DeKalb County.

The referees were a bad crew at the Northside/Tucker game. It is unfortunate that both teams were subjected to such a bad crew. By the way, the pass interference was DEFINITELY pass interference. I was there and the refs called it “defensive holding” yet the football was passed to that receiver…which should have made it a 15 yard pass interference instead of a 10 yard defensive holding.
On both sides, they would spot the ball behind the original line of scrimmage for no reason. A team could be facing 3rd and 10, but the ball was actually 3rd and 12. In the third quarter, a Tucker player was literally punching a Northside player on the ground. No ejection. I’m certain by the manner both teams were very chippy on the field, that the refs had no control of the on the field chatter.
This was a bad crew and another classic Northside (Warner Robins) vs. Tucker game.

I watched Prince absolutely dominate the #1 seed Athens Academy tonight…if you want a team with fire in their belly, start following Prince. Due to other losses by higher seeded teams, Prince gets to play at home next week.
This revenge game (Athens Academy beat Prince earlier this season) was never in doubt as Prince was able to move the ball and caused numerous turnovers. Athens Academy, while at home, had less fans than the visiting team, and had a penalty to start virtually every offensive drive, something that shouldn’t happen at home.
Way to go, Prince, and I look forward to following you to the dome!

I will say that Lovejoys dirty play started at the end of the game last week. They picked off Anthony Jennings in the end zone and returned it 100+ yards. Lost in the action was Jennings nearly getting his head knocked off and laying on the field for a good minute while Lovejoy was jumping around and celebrating right by him and pushing our players away. At least they were flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct but it didn’t matter at that time in the game

Jvillebil…as far as NG and Lovejoy..we played against both teams this year…NG i was never really impressed with..the packers started a center that had not practiced in 2 weeks and was still hurt..multiple bad snaps and turnovers.. over 100 yds in penalties..lost by 2…lovejoy a good solid team with a lot of talent..not sold on the qbs accuracy but a strong def and plenty of size and speed on offense..held us to like 200 yds

@ sprtsnut and @ NGHS 09-Absolutely disgusted by the lack of class and sportsmanship displayed by Lovejoy. I suspected it last week, but witnessed it in full in the game I saw tonight.
Lovejoy obviously has the size advantage over anyone. I still haven’t seen North Cobb or Colquitt with my own eyes so I can’t say who I truly believe will win in the semis. However, I know for a fact that I will be cheering against Lovejoy. I was cheering for the Cobb teams already, but now I just hope Lovejoy gets it handed to them next week. #40 has as much talent as I’ve ever seen a high school player have, but when you flip off the other team in the middle of the field of play I cannot respect your game anymore. Go ahead sportsnut, I know you’ll come to their defense. I just hope that if you actually have a tangible connection to the program that you will get in these kids ears and let them know that they aren’t impressing anyone with the trash talking and stare downs. Let them know that nobody wants a team of ill-mannered punks representing this state as the best team.

@tnt – I’ve got to go with Colquitt Fan on this one. It was a very, very , very hard hit but clean and I’m sure most of the bench had no idea the Parkview guy was hurt. I give a lot of credit to the Colquitt coaches on that play. They saw him drop like a rag doll and ran out to him immediately – even before the officials realized it. It was scary watching it. I don’t know that I’ve seen a player drop like that and not move for such a long time. When the Gwinnett EMS came out on the field I told my wife it must be bad. I was shocked when he got up and was able to walk off with a little help.

What are you guy’s talking about ? Lovejoy play’s football. You had no idea that real football was played this way. We will not run you to the sidelines and allow you to go out of bounds. If you are in, we are going to hit you. If you have the ball period, you get hit. If your brand of football is different, then you should apply for a transfer. Most of the comments are coming from 1 poster. What he witnessed tonight was the best D in the State of Georgia doing their thing. You can make all the complaints you want but you know in the end, what you have seen was one of the best D’s you will see. Someone stated that we would be facing the best Qb that we have seen, better than Cole. Did not happen. Cole is better. NGHS 09, you are crying because you thought North Gwinnett was better than Lovejoy and you found out differently and so did the computer, Maxwell Ratings. Let’s be honest. This is a level of football that you are not accustomed to. There is no politeness. Before and after the game is when the hostilities do not apply. During the game, I want to take your head off. This is football. Don’t cry because your Qb was not healthy. Don’t get mad because we don’t stop playing because you have a down player. The play is alive and we are going to finish it. Sportsmanship is there. Did North achieve what they wanted to on the field? If your answer is no, that is because the Lovejoy D would not allow them to. Why are you hating so much. I’ve said time and again that I’ve been completely impressed by the size and talent level of Lovejoy. Nothing that was or wasn’t called had a true impact on the game itself.
Sportsnut-NGHS 09 and myself aren’t upset about hard-nosed play, we’re upset that a team of significant talent decided to show up their opponent when the game was in hand.
Defend them all you want. People saw what they needed to see. It’s more than doubting the team now. I truly feel that people genuinely do not want to see this team win after the crap display of sportsmanship that went on tonight.
By the way I completely feel that the lack of discipline of Lovejoy will be their downfall. Either way, I definitely hope it is so that maybe these kids might learn a little humility.

Lovejoy is a solid team, and to answer a post from a NG fan earlier, there has been one team that matched LJ in size and the deciding factor in that game came from the unsportsmanlike penalties called against them that killed drives our had plays called back. Ofcource it was the refs fault or so called home cooking that the calls were made.

Fred, so clean it drew a flag. In looking at the replay it was closer than watching it live, but the replay shows the CC player had the play in front of him and could’ve seen the player with the interception was down and pulled up. But nooooo!!! Let’s just go helmet to helmet. He almost took his own player out with the hit as well. Just barabaric in my opinion.. I give credit to the CC coaches for getting out there to the injured player though. I just looked bad to me.

As an African American myself who works with young people, I have to say that the Lovejoy team is a borderline embarassment and feeds into a dangerously negative stereotype about our young men. What I hate even more, is that the head coach “appears” to be someone who could really care less about their character and development as men and just puts them out there to look like Step N Fetchit..I do not know him, but that is the feeling I got from that display.

Tucker and Northside played again for the 3rd time last night under a full moon and it was strange and wild again just like the first two.
In 2007, Tucker had the game in hand and lost.
In 2011, Northside had the game in hand and lost.
Last night Tucker had the game in hand (twice) and lost.
Congrats to the Tucker players, coaches and fans for showing up and giving Northside its first real battle test of the season.
Wake up call the to Northside players, coaches and fans. A poor performance last night against a very good Tucker team and all have to do a better job the next two weeks.
Congrats to Northside on the win but it took a little help and luck to pull it out as Tucker was the better team last night.

It never makes sense when I read a comment that says, “our team was the better team tonight, but well you got the win.” DUH, I’ll take the win any time. Seems to me that the best team is the one that scores the most points. Maybe I’m missing something. I guess sometimes we only remember the plays at the end of the game, and not the dropped pass in the first QT or a TD saving tackle in the 2nd qt that kept a team in the game to pull out the win. We Ware County looks forward to the challenge of playing NSWR next week. Hope we can get them in the swamp, may be our only chance. We’ll probably be 14 point underdogs as ususal, but at least the game is played on the field.

ELCA is that much better than everyone else in ‘A’ this year.
I do not see anyone stopping these guys. They could likely win AA – but will stop there – no beating Sandy Creek in AAA.

@ Wild hog == The deciding factor in the Colquit vs Lovejoy game was not penalties. If they were, it was that Lovejoy got penalized for things that are not against the rules. Lovejoy beat Colquit all night long. The difference was the officiating. With that said, we lost. Period, we lost. We are not living in the past. We moved on. We got better and now we are closer to our goal. When Cole was hit the same way Haynes was last night, the flags flew. Not because of a dirty play but because of a play made. Why worry ? Lovejoy and Colquit could possibly face off again and this time it won’t be in Moultrie. If they do, it will not be the same outcome.

sportsnut…….What you’re not seeing is the fact that the perception of Lovejoy being a THUG team is out there, whether they are or not. That’s one of the reasons I didn’t think they would make it past the 3rd round, despite their obvious talent. I could care less about the smack talking as long as it doesn’t affect the play on the field or the outcome of the game. But once the flags start to fly because of it, it then becomes a problem!

@sportsnut – I disagree on penalties not costing you the game against Colquitt. I watched it in real time that night as we had a bye week and it was clear to me that LJ had several critical unsportsman like penalties at critical junctures of the game. I think I even commented on it on the blogs that night. In particular, I remember one that came after a sack when your guy was prancing around way past the play in the backfield.

Fan-First of all we scored a TD, we didn’t kick a field goal. Secondly, nobody ran around on the field. We took care of business as usual. Norcross will not be denied this year, so I recommend that you guys take the $20k you’d normally spend on travel and spend it on a more worthy cause like dental work, women for Probst, fix up the booster club’s monster truck, English lessons, heated tree stands, Sunday go to meeting overalls, Honey Boo Boo videos, a new school song other than dueling banjos, sleeves for your shirts, best of Hee Haw video for the booster club, window replacements for all the Hefty bags in Colquitt.

Colquitt Supporter-Kamara is a great running back, but I think that he would tell you that a lot of his success is based on the play of his O-line and also his 4.38 speed. Our defense has also come on the second half. I watched the Parkview game and McEachern games and Colquitt looks like they are in their post-season form. Seagraves is playing really well as is your D.
There will be no easy games left as the title winner will earn it this year. I am expecting another hard fought battle late into the 4th quarter.

Its funny that I’ve read this blog for two years and never heard anyone call Lovejoy players thugs. Now all of a sudden they got a rep for being thugs. I think people are so suprise at how good they are and they’re stretching things a little bit. I was at the game and didn’t witness any of this so call thug play. On tv you get replays but I’ve seen them so many times and never came away thiinking they were like that.
Like the coach from NG saying they would even better with a kicking game. Now I don’t what he saw, but all Lovejoy punts was very good.
