Teams are averaging 25.9 points per game in the playoffs this year – nearly twice as much as the 13.7 point per game 30 years ago. Below are the average points per team for the first two rounds since 1978, when the postseason first became five rounds for most teams winning state titles. Note that this is the average points for each team, so double those numbers to see the total points scored in each game. Compared to 25 years ago, we’re seeing almost 23 more points per game.

You also have watered down playoffs with 4 times as many teams. Teams getting in with losing records not like the 70’s and early 80’s when you had to be 1st in your region.
