George Walton Academy beats Aquanis 38-12. Their only two TD’s came from fumbled punts within their 10. Other than, they never made it in field goal range!!!! Goooo Bulldogs!!!!

Athens Academy is incredibly overrated. Yes, they beat Mt. Pisgah however having 14 seniors and needing to comeback to beat a team that is made up of 9th and 10 th grade students? Bye bye next round.

Congrats to Landmark for coming down to Savannah and beating what everyone called a superior team. The score would have been worse if not for some penalties. Landmark has the best D that we have seen all year. Great red zone play. Hope you make it to the Dome. Great year Calvary Day! We’ll be back next year!

Congrats to Walker.

I will be honest I was pulling for Mt. Pisgah last night and watching their score closely just for Region 6 respect. Interesting how a team that is maybe the 6th or 7th best in Region 6 took Athens Academy on their home field right to the edge.

Very good game last night between ELCA and OLM. ELCA jumped out (true to form) to a 35-7 lead at the half. but in the second half the Bobcats showed the cailbre team they’ve been all year and played great defense that held the Chargers to just 7 points while adding 7 of their own. Much respect to you OLM. and congats and good luck to you ELCA. we will be cheering for you all the way. GO REGION 5

@privateschool fan….What do you mean by we “own” Class A…Does this mean you pay the tution for all your star football players? Who are “we”? Are the “we” the wealthy supports on that program that make their generous donations so that they can live thru their kids accomplishments?

Savannah Christian has a great defence and an awesome coaching staff and they will stop Green and upset ELCA just like Landmark Christian did at home last year. My prediction is a rematch for the state championship between Landmark Christian and Savannah Christian in another intense match up like last season. Good match ups come between complete teams on defense and now that Landmark has all of its players healthy the defense is overpowering like Savannah Christian’s. Get set for great match ups this coming Friday but it will be the War Eagles and the Raiders again for the 2012 crown at the dome!!

@I wonder fan…..what I wonder is where were you and Landmark’s “overpowering” defense were just two weeks ago when ELCA rolled up 43 points on them while denying them a single score of any kind. Just to be clear, you do know that week that ELCA was the team in all blue, right?

“Really”….check the bracket….check who wins state….just the facts, though I don’t really understand why we seem to imply that by the names of our schools that the public schools are “un-christian” in some way…we don’t mean to do that, but at least we have a league where we can be competitive and go to school with whom we prefer to go to school …it’s simply unfortunate that our tuition rates make us exclusive and limit who can go there….I hope that the Charter School Amendment will allow us to become public again so that we can make our own rules without the involvement of our local and state school boards…

@I wonder fan… SCPS’s “great defense’ gave up 17 to HI? Just a reminder, ELCA held them to 3. With Green not at 100%. And Rochelle out. At HI.

@MCMBAA….Landmark had 4 starters out for the ELCA game. Except for a stud DE, all starters are back. They are a different team when the playoffs begin. What happened during the season no longer matters. Everyone starts 0-0. This Landmark team much better than last years team hat went to the dome.

@coldhardfact … Landmark’s best player and the difference maker last year was that QB who is gone along with your head coach. I’m not taking anything away from this years Landmark team but last year’s team was special. There is no way this years team is better than last years.

@GAHSFBFAB24……I beg to differ with you on Landmark’s best player and “difference maker” being their QB last year. Now their Head coach was something special, but they have a superior coaching staff this year. They are just a bunch of hard working, do whatever it takes to make it happen boys, THIS year and LAST year!!!!! @MCMBAA…ELCA may have been the team in BLUE, but LCS had several starters on the sideline for that game. Two, in particular being “difference ” makers, whom will be greatly missed next year. SO…that being said, let’s just see where the chips fall. Best of luck to all or the ELITE 8.

@ cold hard facts & football mom…….maybe you guys didnt notice that the best QB in 1A, if not the whole state, was standing on ELCA’s sideline in sweatpants ! Not that Dalton Ethridge is ELCA’s only great player, but we ran the Wildcat ALL NIGHT ! Even Landmark’s cheerleaders knew we wouldn’t throw the ball more than 5 times all night, yet Landmark did absolutely nothing to stop it. It could have been 70 – 0 if Gess wanted it to be. For your sake, you really better hope that Sanvannah can upset ELCA, because you dont want to see ELCA again this year.

Dont count your chickens....

@GAGSFBFAN and innocent bystander…………..Why don’t you go ahead and just give ELCA the trophy!!! Let the games speak for themselves. Yes ELCA is special but they are setting themselves up for a big let down if they think they have already won the title. They better learn from last years mistakes!
All you guys are doing is providing bulletin board material!

@ CHICKENS…….I agree with your statement. There is still a lot of football to be played & anything can happen in any game. A lesson should’ve been learned from last year. Savannah Christian is more than capable of beating ELCA, no doubt. I was responding more to comments on how Landmark was better than last year and wasn’t at full strength against ELCA. I highly doubt that missing a few kids was gonna turn 43-0 into something entirely different. I also highly doubt that any coach would care enough about what a bunch of dad’s that played high school ball 20 + yrs ago say to put in on their bulletin boards.

@ i wonder…..I also wonder …..who you guys were missing when you played ELCA ? Did Alex Mortenson get another year of eligibility ? While Landmark had a really good team last year, one that took it to ELCA when it mattered, you don’t have enough players to make up a 43 point difference against a team that didn’t have a QB playing all night. I also wonder what was intense about your performance in the Dome last year. All the intensity looked to be wearing Red & Black !

Every team at this point is beatable. One bad Friday night and your season is over. The coach that can keep a bunch of 15, 16, and 17 year olds focused on the game at hand is the miracle worker. Good luck to everyone that is still alive in the playoff and let’s play the games on the field.

FYI

@innocent You are correct in saying ELCA has a great team, but Landmark had NO intention of beating or even trying to beat ELCA that last game of the season. Had they beaten ECLA, there was a good chance they would have ended up in the same bracket as ELCA, thus strategically the coaching staff chose to leave slightly injured players on the sideline and show those guys nothing. So I gotta agree with @ chicken. I also agree with @GAHSFBan24. We as parents have no way of predicating what lies ahead, so lets let the boys play ball and see what happens. And best of luck to all of the remaining teams. Btw, still think GHSA made a huge mistake in splitting the public/private schools. Really poor decision based on peer pressure from public school coaches!

@ FYI…… I really hope that your statement is all just theory. I don’t know if I would want my kid to play for a coach that, strategically loses regardless of the situation. Especially when your SPECULATING that you might end up in the same bracket as ELCA. I really meant no disrespect in my earlier comments, but it sounds like excuses to me. Were the same players out in your 2 losses and your narrow escape from O.L.M, a team ELCA beat 91-14 in 2 meetings ??? I like the way Landmark plays football and they are always solid, but lets call it what it is. ELCA rolled Landmark, missing players or not, just like Landmark came in and punched ELCA in the mouth last year. What if you lose before you get to see ELCA again ? or S.C for that matter ? I cant believe a class program like Landmark would lose on purpose. There’s no strategy to losing… EVER !

next year watch out for Whitefield Academy, they will be a force to be reckoned with in Region 6B and in Class A. The JV team this year went 6 and 0. so there is some young talent as well. also returning the QB and some skill players. Lineman are young but very talented.

@fyi… That’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever read in my 42yrs of life! Dude just admit y’all got your lunch handed to you!!! You had two first downs! IN THE WHOLE GAME…TWO!!! Our defense had more yds than your offense! You should be glad OLM is not on that side! Or SC! Or GWA! You very well may see ELCA in the Dome… But it will be a train wreck!!! Keep thinking about last yr, it’ll do you as much good as hanging the 14-7 sign up on the visitors bleachers during our game!

question: I may be mistaken….are there going to be 2 Class A state champions, i.e., a private school and a public school champion? or, is “the one” going to play “the other”?
