Gainesville 61, Kell 42: Visiting Gainesville overcame a 35-21 deficit at the half and outscored Kell by 33 points in the second half. Deshaun Watson carried the offense and accounted for eight touchdowns for Gainesville. T. K. Mize added the other score on an interception returned for a touchdown. Fred Payne also added an interception that led to a Watson touchdown.
Tucker 40, North Paulding 21: Host Tucker amassed 530 rushing yards rushing to dispatch North Paulding. Quarterback Juwaan Williams rushed nine times for 140 yards and three scores. Dallas Rivers had a 90-yard touchdown run and Dominik Sanders scored from 75 yards out. Elijah Sullivan carried the ball four times for 28 yards and a touchdown.
Ware County 20, Union Grove 13: Ware County weathered a late surge by visiting Union Grove late in the fourth quarter. Union Grove scored with six minutes to go on a 2-yard run to pull within a score, but Ware County was able to run out the clock. Xavier Tobler rushed for a 46-yard touchdown for Ware County in the second quarter to take the lead.

Good game Stephenson.
I do want to say something to the people that said EPs and Region5s schedule was weak. That just isn’t true!! Allatoona our #2 just took down your #1 MLK. Last week NP took out another #1 team. Tucker 40 over NP 21 (a very similar score to the NP/EP game). What I will say is “On any given day any team can win”. Was Stephenson the best team today Absolutely. Do I think EP could beat them ABSOLUTELY, but nothing I saw today makes me think Region6 is any better than Region5.

Well if you’ve watch me post all year you have NEVER seen me personally boosted or say EP would win any game all year long. No one can say that for sure and any team can get beat. Tick,tick,tick,poof! That was a dud, hehehehehe! Only road EP’S takes is home. Not meant for you Fridaynight, but all your other obnoxious fans. Telling stories of how scary it is to Olay in boneyard, which turn into a grave yard, avg 41 PPG and settled for two FG. Mentioning they shouldn’t even show up. Tell your fans to ease up a bit next year, just giving EP’S a bad name after all the bragging. At least you keep an open mind. It’s like they are a bad luck charm.

The kids played there butt off!! It’s was the coaches for mlk who lose the game bonehead decision making!! Example 1 not going for 2 when up by 12. Example 2 got a penalty for 2 many players of the field giving Allatoona a second life and they did score when they was going 2 punt.. Example 3 mlk is at Allatoona 20 yard line with three timeouts and didn’t use one subsequently throwing a int to end the game. GET RID OF THE COACHES PERIOD!! They cannot coach,we winning on talent period!!

@footballnut – thanks for being a good sport. Game aside, we really liked the E. Paulding football facilities…the field, the concessions, the flags waving, the cannon blasting….all good. My buddy and I also admired the baseball field behind the visitors’ side. Nice venue.

Well after all these years of disappointments for Stephenson in the playoffs, you were due for a good game. Can you actually win a state championship with your 20 something college players each year? We’ll see. As for some of the teams, hunting season seemed more important than winning and having to miss another deer hunt.

Congratulations to North Paulding on a good game. I hope your QB is OK. Looks like he was throwing the ball on the sidelines late in the game as if he might go back in, but I couldn’t see very well. North’s offensive pace really gave Tucker problems in the first half. Tucker could not get lined up quick enough to defend the spread. Looks like Tucker adjusted in the second half, the NP tempo slowed, and Tucker eventually wore NP down running the ball. Also, looked like Tucker’s speed was a factor. Again, good game NP and thanks to all your fans who made the trip over.

Give the cannon a break…..I’m not a normal east fan ( look at the username) but he always gives a good little preview to the weeks game and roots for his Raiders. I have never seen him make fun of a team or dis them afterwards. He’s been posting on here for years and always gives respect if they are beat…..every other teams fan would obviously root and brag on them as well. Only afew teams left in each classification….all should be proud they got this far…..only one can win it all.

I was impressed NP kept it a game for the most part….young program that has some defensive issues and was up and down this year. Their o-line ( other than the center) averaged about 160! They have a decent offensive scheme and would be VERY scary with a few more athletes and some defensive issues addressed.

EP – Stephenson game – Stephenson looked strong. HUGE D-line.
EP missing their 6′7 tight end due to shoulder separation from the previous game cut down their offensive options in addition to missing his blocking on the O- line. Doubt it would have made a difference in the outcome but the score may have been more respectable!
Only EP bright spot was kicker Hemphill’s 61-yard field goal.
Kudos to the Jags – good luck the rest of the way!

I’m a Stephenson fan and hope they go all the way but Stephenson needs to win a state title to really prove themselves. Far too many times Stephenson has had a roster of D1 players and no ring to show for it. Yes, coach Gartrell has sent a boat load of players to college and that’s great but to validate Stephenson as a “championship” team, they need to win the title. I would love to see Stephenson known as a “state champion” and not just a “talented roster”

To the STEPHENSON folks…GREAT JOB and also CONGRATULATIONS on bringing it RIGHT FROM THE START! You were prepared and the biggest thing all night was the difference between your “D” line and the EAST “O” line. Your guys were on the EAST QB all night and he had NO time to set up pass plays.
With the score 7 / 6 at half time it was still any ones game but ya’ll came out in the 2nd half and OWNED EAST! You did something no many other have and that’s come INTO “THE BONEYARD” and win a playoff game! GOOD LUCK the rest of the season!

@ Decatur joe; If they continue to play the way they did last night they will win the state handily. I’ve been telling these bloggers all year long that the JAGs play in the the most powerful regions in the state with Tucker & Marist (Tucker winning the state championship 2 out of the last 3 years). @ with Stephenson playing up in the state’s highest classification gaining all of that experience while playing over their heads. All these other regions is just hyped’ they have nothing to judge their #1 teams by when the talent level & strength of the region schedule is not that great in their region*****

Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched Jaguars. Ware and Stephenson have played in the past, and Stephenson was the big bad team in town. This year’s Ware County Gators have improved on the fine foundation poured by Coach Dan Ragle. Head Gator Ed Dudley and defensive coordinator Jimmy Francis have the Swamp Boys playing lights out. Have a safe drive to The Swamp. Plan to stay overnight. Driving home after a big loss can be dangerous.

I’m a RAIDER FAN to the end. I’m very proud of the season our EP Raiders had this year. On any given day anytime can win and Stephenson out played EP last night. What does everyone have to get so nasty and adolesent on here. Give credit where credit is due and move one. Grown men being so childish is sad an pathetic. GROW UP!!!!
Good luck to Stephenson in their next round. All teams in the playoffs are there for a reason because they are the best of the best and at some point their has to be a loser.
As for firing EP’s coach are you CRAZY??? He came after the “legend in his own mind” and took this year’s team to a 10 – season and a Region Championship. One game does not end a career so why in the world would you say something so STUPID!!!
Thanks Coach Goddard for coming in, gaining the confidence of the players, coaches and fans and taking our team to the Perfect regular season. I look forward to see how you will conintue to develop and lead EP Raiders in the years to come. You are now part of the Raider Family and as we say Once a Raider always a Raider.

@ Gator Bait, SHhhhhhhh… I peep your schedule & you didn’t play anybody, your lost came to the worst team in AAAAAA (Coffee Co.), you play in the weakest region in AAAAA, at least EP did have some legit reason to be there, we were underdogs according to AJC, but I don’t think so this coming week. We’ve beaten you twice on your own field, so chiiiiilll out, we will come in quietly next week and beat you handily and prepare for our showdown with eithe Tucker or NSWR. Again shhhhhhhh..:)

Im glad we made it out of Marietta w/ a win over Kell… game shouldnt have been that close due to some of the busted coverage plays that turned to TDs, but nevertheless, Kell was good. BUT!!! that field though!!!! Kell needs to tear up that bootleg turf and get a better brand. Guys were slippin all over the field.

@lionforlife..here we go COACHES IN THS STANDS ARE ALWAYS UNDEFEATED HUH…all the decisions made were good call..even the int.guy was wideopen in endzone.jus ans underthrown ball…call a timeout for what so allatoona cud have made adjustments when they were out of timeouts. .I see ur a madden player only…we had momentum. .they had no chance..all the right calls were made..allatoona players made the better plays…and to ur gdt rid of the coaches how bout take ur kid elsewhere. .cuz he prolly one of the disrespectful kids ur not raising rite at home and ur prolly a non supportive parent that haven’t paid dues nor contributed to the success of the program. .but u will be expecting help getting ur kid in college so u won’t have to take out a loan…save it plz..those coaches at mlk coached their asses off whil dealing with disrespectful kids and nonsupportive parents. .as well as all the turmoil since the first game..big props to that young coach and how he handled himself after being thrown in that position. .and big props to his staff…smfh at u back stabbing so called fans. .a damn shame.

Why don’t you guys try talking about your team and your region without putting down other regions. Is that the only way you can feel good about yourself? This is a sport, It’s not life or death. You can have fun posting back and forth with out trashing other teams programs, coaches, stadiums, or fans. That’s just immature. I, like FridayNIghtLightsFan and other EP fans, have been to every game this year. I have a son in the Band. I have enjoyed this season. The team lost but life goes on. This is a fun sport. Some win, some lose. Try not to make it such a priority that you got to trash others to lift yourself up!

@ JAB, That’s funny, cause the posters I see talking about “peeping” other teams schedules are reg 6 fans. I didn’t see any EP fans making fun of your schedule or anyone else’s. Trash talking is yours and other posters privilege, but knocking other regions as a whole is just juvenile. That’s like kids saying my daddy can whip your daddy. Like FNLF said, any team can loose any given Friday when your get to the playoffs. It’s all come down to preparation, and execution. Sometimes they happen at the same time and it’s beautuful, sometimes they don’t and it leads to disappointment. Congrats on being well prepared and execution your game plan to almost perfection, in the EP game. Will that happen next week. Who knows. We will find out. If you play like that on the road next week, Ware better look out. But, again, who knows?

@EPHS Fan. You are correct no one should be disrespectful of anyone on this blog but surely you are not implying its only or mostly region 6 posters who are doing this. Most EP bloggers have been respectful in their posts and so have most of region 6 posters. If you go back and read the novels posted on here by Cannon Rules about how great they were and how the opposing teams had no chance winning at the boneyard and blah blah blah. Really go back and read his incredibly long rantings about the all powerful EP Raiders. Not saying he was disrespectful but he was extremely obnoxious. That being said, to his credit he did post a response on Friday that many seemed to miss. And that being said, Cannon Rules, Jab and many others would be sorely missed if they were not on here, trash talking keeps this blog interesting as long as you keep it respectful. @redekalb, I never said if you post on blogs you don’t have a life. Don’t put words in my post. Read my previous post again. I said this (HS football) is a sport, it is not life and death. So, no need to belittle other regions as a whole. And I clearly said Trash talking is optional, just don’t let it be the majority of the post. Why not post about favorite players or play and what you hope will happen in the next game. I know what you mean about “Cannon Rules” BUT I see you all enjoyed the outcome of the game and giving it back to him. I have always believed that if you dish it out, you better be able to take it. He did and he didn’t make excuses about his team being flat. This is a fun sport, let’s have fun with the blogging.

@middlefinger, I don’t think mlk coaches should be fired and I applaud them on a great season. But at the same time I was at that game and it was obvious that on that play the qb was shaken and wanted/needed a timeout. So the coaches should take the responsibility and own up to atleast being out coached. But by no means do I think they need to be fired.

For all the respect I have for EP posters, like Cannon & RealistFan, we have blogged for a number of years with good fun in support of our individual teams and regions and I have no issues with Cannon and his creative slogans. as a football Affiliate i must say i have coverd football all across the country;and i have looked at some really good high school football teams, some big and some small; i haven’t seen to many teams like the ones in georgia.they all are good; but TUCKER have talent and i mean talent, SEC talent speed, and power there O-LINE IS BIG and nasty and they have a stable of backs this past friday night they rushed for 530 yards they lost two games and seem to be a little off track; but they do what most great teams do they find a way and some how they seem to put it all together now really look good and playing championship football and they really look like they could go all the way to the dome there special team players are beast and hungry and they will hit you most of there kicks are deep and they will pin you deep almost never passing the twenty putting there D in good shape all the time there d is very huge up front 330 plus making it hard for any team to run on they have D-1 talent college scouts where all over the place friday night i really can’t blame them, good luck

I am the mother of an East Paulding football player. He’s a sophomore, and hasn’t played much on the varsity squad this year. However, I have been to every game cheering on the team. I am proud of their effort this year. My son experienced his first loss Friday night in 3 years of playing football for East. His 8th, 9th and JV teams have all had undefeated seasons. Friday night was tough for the entire team, but I believe it will strengthen the players who will be on the team next year. They certainly did not play up to their potential for sure. Stephenson is a very good team. I congratulate them and hope they continue to do well. I will say that I was extremely disappointed in three representatives of the Stephenson coaching staff. I overhead them coming out of the press box after the game. As they walked past me and several other parents, they said, “F _ _ _ them!” They were wearing Stephenson gear and came out of the press box, so I know they were affiliated with the team. It gave all of us standing around a very bad impression of a team that had just played so well. I know it is not good practice to judge an entire team by these three individuals’ actions, so I won’t. It just was unnecessary. They were walking through a group of the players’ parents at that time. No one had even spoken to them. I am and will continue to support East Paulding. It is a very good program. Good luck to the Allatoona Bucs! We are going to be cheering you on!

I mean it took guts for those kids to pick themselves up off the mat after getting whooped by E Paulding, but somehow they did and beat a good Heritage squad and an excellent MLK squad. We just have a good team, and we have a good chance to beat Whitewater. One game at a time!

I just can’t fathom that. I realize emotions may have be running high and East Paulding supporters were in shock after the game, but why would coaches stoop to such a level as using profanity amongst the host team? You are right, Stephenson is a class act through and through. If what you say is true, then shame on them. If they were heckled on the way out, then what was said to them? I just find it atypical for Stephenson staff to show nothing but class at all times.

@Bravesgirl the f word is used as much as any other word in Dekalb. Don’t read too much into it. When people use that word it is because they can not find another word to express themselves. If you sit in the stands at a Dekalb game on any Dekalb side near any folks under 50 if you get a dollar for every time you heard it I am sure it would be more than a years salary for a year. If the coaches said that it is really not directed at you. It has just become too common an expression in society in general.

@Gamer, you must have not been following the post closely or your question of how did Tucker loose those two games would have been answered.
I will enlighten you again. As you know Tucker had a coaching change this year. Our new coach didn’t arrive until just before the spring practice started. I will admit that Tucker football was in disarray after loosing what I consider one of the top 3 coaches in the state of Georgia. We had coaches that had to define new roles and a head coach that had to get his barrings on this program. We were still trying to find our identity in several areas when we played Stephenson and MLK.
In a region as tough as region 6 you don’t have time to transition like we had to do. But we are clicking on all cylanders now. We have been harden by a great region and we will show NSWR that they are over hyped and delusional when it comes to playing with the big boys of the SEC 6.

I live in and love Tucker as a community. I have a child that attends the high school and I have to say that the school has been overcrowded because of the state championship win last year. I’m scared to see what happens if we win again. With that said, I hope they pull out ANOTHER win against NSWR. I don’t see why NSWR fans feel like they were cheated last year or that something was stolen from them. They GAVE Tucker the game with that fumble. You presented an opportunity and it would have been stupid not to take it. As you can see, Tucker fans don’t do much trash talking. No need to. Those who talk the most trash end up losing. That seems to be the trend I have observed. It’s going to be a tough game for both teams. But remember…any team can win/lose on any given Friday. GO TIGERS!!!! #TUCNATION

Over the last couple of weeks, noticed a couple of post regarding the surprise team that has reached the Elite 8 round – Harris County Tigers. I must admit, don’t know much about this team, so I did a little research. Starting with the last 5 years schedule and to be honest, not much to of a season record or wins over POWERHOUSE programs. So let’s focus on the 2012 HC Tigers. 1) Started the season with 4 straight looses to teams that are not making any noise and haven’t in awhile, in their respected classifications. 2) Three of the “L” came at the hand of teams 1 & 2 levels below and the final scores where large margins. 3) The fourth game the Tigers got on a roll and haven’t seen defeat, 8 straight – very impress in this regard. 4) They are region champs from region 1 and that’s an accomplishment and their first … CONGRADULATIONS. 5) On their way to becoming region champs, Wins over Bainbridge(21-17) … close one, win over Northside, Columbus … not to be confused with the other Northside of WR, (48-0) … very impressive over a team that use to be a playoff competitor, win over TCC(18-12) … now that win turn some heads, but TCC was man handle in round two by the other Northside team, but TCC was a final regular season Top Ten. 6) First round of playoff, Harris Co beats up on Northgate(31-14), but was region 4 #4 seed team and not from 5A top regions. 7) Region 1 & 4 split the first round matchup 2/2 and each does have one remaining team in the elite 8 (Harris Co, region 1 & Whitewater region 4).
Win of Warner Robins(31-21) in round two. IMO this was an impressive win for the Tigers, over a program use to playoff football and has past state championships, but maybe down this year – hats off on the victory. 9) Out of the 12 2012 games for Harris Co, only two victories over real competition. 10) Next up for the Tigers is Gainesville, a final top ten ranked team that possess a outstanding QB and a high power offense. Hope Harris Co defense is ready to cage him – Big time opportunity for the Tigers – win this one and you’ll see some respect on the blogs.
Could the Harris Co Tigers be the LoveJoy of this 2012 championship run? Surprises do happen, but odds favor the Red Elephants and region 1 officially starts the basketball season. Yeah, Lovejoy prove many of us wrong in 2011 … if that’s any consolation. It’s been awhile since S GA has been represented in this classification this far in the playoffs. This class is dominated by the teams from north and Mid GA … I’m just saying.

Remember Northside defense held tucker to 195 yards of offense and 10 points so don’t think much is going to change. Matter of fact Tucker had 63 yards in the second half. So come Friday Tucker fans will see how a defense really works

We (NSWR) dont feel cheated. Tucker won last year fair and square. We were winning the game when we fumbled on the 1 and Tucker returned it for a 99 yard touchdown. That’s why I saw it was stolen from us. Much respect to that team last year as they capatilezed when on our mistake. With that said, we feel it was “stolen” from us b/c of the way it happened and as I stated earlier, it won’t happen again. Coach Kinsler has been reminding the team of the way it lost/gave the game away last year and they’ve used that as fuel. They’re hungry for a rematch and want this win bad!! This game will likely determine the AAAAA state championship and these are the best 2 teams in the classification. TURN UP EAGLES, LETS GET IT!!!!!!!!

@DAWG – Thanks for the heads up on #3 and his athletic abilities, but athletes like him are NOTHING new to Tucker. Just to remind you that region 6, posses MANY with his skills and Tucker has experience at containing kick returners. Maybe Tucker’s game plan should be just kick it into the end zone and take him out of the game, which Tucker’s kicker can do. Also, I would like to give up the same information about the Tiger’s kick return specialist, but we have about 3-5 that can and have proven, given a crack in the wedge, will result into 6 points … very quickly. May take you up on the Martins BBQ advice on my way back to DeKalb, heard about it and I like good BBQ – probably be in the mood for beef brisket, certainly will have my full of BBQ bird. (LOL)
@XtraSmedium – Thanks for AGAIN, pointing out, how some of the NSWR bloggers hold on to a normal opportunity in the game of football. You just prove a point to Gamer.

@DAWG – I respect your comment from your post at 2:22 pm describing the infamous fumble … great come back on how Coach Kinsler is using it for motivation to this year’s Eagle team. I would do the same in his position. In 2007, Tucker felt that NSWR stole the game also, so I guess we are even. Granted none of the 2012 Tigers where on the team, but a few of the coaches where, most of all the Head Coach. I’m sure he has plant the same seed and motivation as the HC for NSWR. Also, there are a few current Tigers who older brothers where members of that team and many where mid school kids attending the game at the dome.
@Montano – Haven’t heard/read much from you, glad to see you back and as usual big time supporting your Eagles. No true Tucker fan would disagree with your comment on NSWR shut down defense. Hope you had a chance to read one of my previous post, mention the EXCELLENT play by #42. Without his play, the 99+ yard defense TD, would not be needed … Tucker would have been 2+ TD easily. Also, if memory serves me correctly, your Eagles had THREE offensive opportunity to score following Tuckers defense score and what happen? Well I will refresh your memory … Eagles laid an EGG … isn’t that what birds do?

Actually, White Diamond Barbecue is the best ‘cue in Warner Robins. They’ve been serving great ‘cue, stew and slaw since approximately 1943. They are about 5 miles south of Martin’s on 247, but you would have to eat there before the game since they probably close at 8:00.

Oh I doubt 5AReg6Fan that Tucker has seen anyone quite like #3. If Tucker coaches have seen any film, he won’t be kicked to Friday night. But then again, alot of teams thought they had seen great players and tested their luck. Just ask TCC about the opening kickoff last week. He took it out 45 yds. and the funniest part about it is that THEY KNEW he was gonna do it! BWHAHAHAHAHA. LIONS and BEARS and EAGLES?!?!?!?! OHHHHHH MMMYYYYY! Martins brisket is very good but if you plan on having bird, you need to go west on Watson Blvd. to this place called Churchs chicken cause the Eagles will be flying high Friday night!

@Northside Dawg – Thanks my man for the info on Diamond, will pass it on to the other Tucker fans. I believe I know where 247 is. Isn’t that the road that can take you to Fort Valley? My son is finishing his degree there. He and I have plans to meet up a few hours before kickoff and might stop in on Diamond. Hopefully, they also have good brisket, will have my full of BBQ bird starting at 7:30 @ the MAC. (LOL)
@DAWG – I would bet BIG money that Tucker’s coaching staff has review film on #3 and if he is anything like you say, then they will have a game plan for him. Great PROGRAMS do their homework. You don’t yearly be a State Champ contender and don’t handle game time preparation … COMON MAN. We’ll see how Tucker handle this athlete, he at least gets ONE and probably more opportunity to showcase his kick return abilities. My prediction is he will see 4 opportunities … One first half or second half and 3 Tiger TD’s …Tucker 22, NSRW 17. Remember, your Eagles will not be playing TCC, but a member of the powerful region 6 … we see special athletes EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT.

This is something that I have want to post about 5A bloggers and the total respect we have for our athletes, teams, communities, schools, fan base, bands, cheerleaders, etc. If any 5A bloggers, have read some of the 6A stuff, it’s just over the top on how they post. There is no room in today’s society to degrade any child or the community that they represent. Yes, we all have our support and love of your individual teams, but to belittle the kids from an individual standpoint and call someone out of there GOD giving name is just WRONG. 5A,what use to be 4A, has some strong HS football fan supporters (e.g. Tucker, NSWR, WR, TCC, Clarke Central, Ware, Kell, East Paulding, SWD, Mays, Gainesville and now we welcome our new supporters from Stephenson & MLK, along with upstarts Allatoona, N Paulding, Miller Grove & the this year surprise Harris Co) we have keep it in most part what it is, FUN. This Friday 5A showcases 8 of its remaining 2012 teams. Some old faces, e.g. Tucker, NSWR, Ware, one new POWERHOUSE – Stephenson, one respected program – Gainesville, and three new to this BIG stage – Harris Co/Whitewater/Allatoona.
A special SHOUT OUT to ALL my blogging partners in 5A, hopefully other classification can experience what we experience from August thru December … “Mutual Respect”.

The road to White Diamond will take you to Hawkinsville. Fort Valley is to the west. You want to continue south on 247/129 past Watson Blvd for about 5 miles and White Diamond will be on your right at the intersection of 247 & 96. The bbq pork is their thing. I don’t even know if they have brisket. They have this great mustard-based (mixed with tomato) sauce. They have great fries also. Their sweet tea is decent but needs to be sweeter.

I guess you could also take 75 all the way to SR 96 and then go east on 96 until you hit 247. That might be easier.

One big difference in last years Eagles and this year Eagles is at Qb Glenn Smith is his name and by the end of the night you will know it well. Better defense better Qb better bet on the Eagles.
