Monroe Area 21, Grady 20: The Purple Hurricanes overcame the turnover bug to defeat Grady in overtime. Grady’s first score came courtesy of an 80-yard defensive fumble return. Monroe Area fought back down by 14 and tied it up with an 80-yard scoring march in the third quarter. In overtime, Monroe Area quarterback Stanton Truitt plunged in from 1-yard out to give the Hurricanes the victory.
Ridgeland 41, LaGrange 34: Bill Bridges led host Ridgeland with 249 yards on 30 carries. Bridges also tallied three rushing touchdowns. The game was tied at 21 at the half and Ridgeland led 35-28 entering the fourth quarter. A Vonn Bell touchdown run of 21 yards with 9:50 remaining turned out to be the game-winning score.

Trojan 94-thanks I just read in the Carrollton paper that a number of players had the flu .Two starters played having not recovered which just makes the team’s performance that much more impressive.Looks like the state title most likely will be settled this Friday at Tyrone.

@Just A Fan — no, the state title will be settled in 3 weeks. While Burke v SC is a big game, the winner still must win 2 more. As Buford learned last year, you cannot win a title before winning all 5. Many good teams remain in 4A.

Attention Burke County Fans: There will be a large contingency of Griffin Bear fans there on your sideline pulling for you. We hate Sandy Creek with a passion like there has never been in high school football (well since the R. E. Lee days anyway). but at any rate, please bring some of those good BIRD DOGS with ya’ll so they can help POINT out a win for your Mighty Bears!! Man I can’t wait for this one. This use to be a good blog where you can have a little fun cheering on your team and making comments. It only take a few to mess up a good thing. I hope we have great weather for Burke and Creek, looking forward to some good defense and hitting in this one. I hope this game will be close in the fourth quarter. Don’t know what kind of stamina Creek have but I do know Burke seem to bring it in the second half. This will be a fun game and I am looking forward to seeing a great game. I hope it turns out to be just what we all been waiting for. I said I wasn’t going to make a prediction in this one but I changed my mind, Burke county 28 Creek 24. After this game I will be cheering for the Dawgs to pull out a close one against Alabama. Depending on which Aaron Murray show up.

Sandy Creek is a complete team. Burke is one guy and a bunch of supporting members. I think this game will be close for a half, and then Creek will pull away. SC by 21.

Then you’re a Burke Co Bear and you have a Stockbridge fan getting mad at you for showing SC some respect. It’s just simply amazing. I’m definitely not sweating it my man. As far as Friday night goes with all the athletes that SC/BC have I’m expecting a classic showdown Friday night. To bad it’s only Monday.

War Eagle-I stand corrected-I should have validated my statement with “barring any big upsets”.It just appears that those two teams are playing above all the rest at this point of the season.I still pick SC to win but I think the gap is narrowing.

To Grady fans, what situationa are you talking about, there were not that many penalties in the game, it was, overall a well played game, I do remember seeing on a couple of holding calls, it was holding on your offensive lineman, mainly because it was very obvious and right in front of the refs, so you really don’t have anything to CRY about, just think what the score would have been if Monroe did not fumble the ball, possibly 28-0, or worse.
