Cartersville 24, Blessed Trinity 23: Host Cartersville used an interception by Brandon Wells with two seconds remaining on a fake field goal to seal the win. Kalin Heath scored from 20 yards out and Preston Slemp added a 30-yard field goal in the first half. Brandon Long put Cartersville ahead 17-7 on a 5-yard run. Trojan Sailor, may I request you police your own? If you don’t like what is being spewed in your name, you should be more aggrieved at your supposed ally than those who call his bluff.

C’mon, Tom. Just because I don’t like the way that some Peach County fans express themselves doesn’t mean that I either don’t agree with them or don’t cheer that their haughty words will come to fruition.

Ok – here is the real scoop on the BT vs. Cartersville game –
1) BT dominated Cartersville the entire game – however, much like St. Pius did in their loss to Woodward this year, they had 6 (NOT 5) turnovers, three of which were in the red zone. BT should have won this game by 2 or 3 touchdowns, not lose it by 1. BT lost this game because of their 6 turnovers, period.
2) BT also lost this game on TERRIBLE HOMER JOB OFFICIATING. It was 4th down and 5 or so with a just a few minutes left in the game with Cartersville down 21-17 and they had to get to the 16 yard line for the 1st down – their QB throws the ball on an out, WR catches it at BEST at the 18 and BT defender hits him back to the 20 and the ref spots the ball for a first on the 16th. Total BS. That call right there helped Cartersville win this game. Fat Homer Ref stole BT’s season right there. Hate it but it was true, EVERYONE who was there saw it plain and simple.
3) Cartersville is feared by no one. Their 11-0 record was soft and
BT as the 2nd Team from their region dominated them AT THEIR HOUSE. Cartersville is overrated and lucky to be in the Elite 8. Donovan Tate no longer plays for Cartersville but their fans and guys like Cartersvilleman act like their team has a chance to go deep in AAA. No way. Ain’t happening.
4) Anyone on this board posing to be from BT who badmouths Coach McFarlin is likely a) from Roswell or b) from Milton, the two teams that would do anything to get him there. Coach McFarlin was brought in from a “long-term” perspective” (or BT would have never hired him) to take the program to the next level in all facets given the potential that was always there but not being reached. In his 2nd Season Coach McFarlin had BT ranked in the Top 10 all season and he put the team in the position to be in the Elite 8 – the guy is good but the players still have to step up and win as a team – Coach McFarlin was not the one who turned the ball over 6 times. Coach McFarlin also has installed one of the best Junior Programs in the metro area and one of the junior teams this year dominated all competition (including massive punishing wins over SPX and Marist) and won their league championship – and more is yet to come. He is going nowhere, and the last place he would ever go back to is Roswell. Look at what is going on at Roswell – their Varsity is in shambles and their Jr. Program is non-competitive. BT will win a State Championship within the next four years and when this year’s Jr. Program kids are Jr’s and Sr’s they will win another two in a row.
5) We can all 2nd guess the call to fake vs. let the kicker try to tie it up, but it is what it is. Great call, great attempt to win, but 6 turnovers and bad officiating at the end is what sealed the Canes’ destiny. They deserve to move on with their soft schedule and the opportunity to get destroyed in the Elite 8. I can’t wait to see the results. Cartersville has no chance.

WOW! So many to respond to, but to state we had a soft schedule compared to YOURS do you really want to go there? Towers, Decatur, McNair, White County and others? The kool-aid must be great down there in Roswell, and of course you accept no responsibility (its the refs fault, its the kids fault- and of course no way is it the coach’s fault. I think everyone at your school should put him up for Sainthood right away- before Auburn hires him! Great call? What was so great about it? IT FAILED! Is this how you are teaching your kids? I am guessing that when little Johhny does not get into the college of his choice, or does not get the job at Denny’s, it will probably be someone’s else’s fault and not his, but am sure Saint McFarlin will get him in somewhere.

Blessed Trinity turnovers were not because BT just felt like giving the ball up.
Fumbles were created by hits that the Canes put on BT players and the pick your QB threw deep in our territory was caused by pressure on the QB. Sure we had an off game compared to how we have been playing and your secondary deserves a lot of credit. Officiating was a wash who knows where that officiating crew came from but they sure missed some holds by your guys.
Bottom line is that twice on 4th down when we needed to make a play we converted the play and when the chips were down and we needed the go-ahead score we drove it down the field and we scored. So congrats for a great game and btw, we didn’t make it past the second round when Tate played but this TEAM this year is on to the third round. GO CANES!

@Real BT Fan and Parent at the Game! Oh no, I can’t let you get away with that comment regarding the 1st down spot. The receiver’s forward progress was to the 17 yard line which was the first down mark. Look at it again.
Also, you say that another team dominated us at our house, who was that? Because this is our record at home:
Darlington W 28-7
Rockmart W 38-6
Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe W 45-16
Gordon Central W 41-19
Saying that a region is weak is just another sad excuse for not winning against programs that you don’t play frequently. Like I said before both teams made a ton of mistakes and BT just made one that cost them opportunity to win. If I was a BT fan I would be upset that the coach wouldn’t just kick the field goal to give the players the chance to win. He gambled when he could have called a play with a higher probability of working. Oh, well. GO CANES!!

Great high school football game last Friday. Games are never decided by one play or officials. BT just made too many mistakes to overcome. Can’t make those kind of mistakes in the play-offs and expect to win. The fact that we had a chance to win at the end is due to the character and resilience of our kids. Both defenses were exceptional. Give credit to Cartersville defense for taking the ball away.
Only benchmark on strength of schedule I have seen is Maxpreps – BT #9 and Cartersville #18.

Cartersvilleman and Canes Fan – you can make up facts about the game all you want to try and make people think your self-proclaimed storied program is still relevant but for the people who were at the game, they all saw the truth, that being the Cartersville mystique of the past is a farce and your team is trying to hang on in AAA by playing in a weak conference and then going out and playing a weak non-conference schedule to boot. Darlington? An A Team ? Please. The bottom line was BT dominated the Canes statistically and physically and were not even the least intimidated playing an undefeated team at home in the 2nd Round. You should be ashamed that BT had 6 turnovers yet was winning the game late in the 4th quarter and had the opportunity to tie and go into OT or win outright. And please don’t give me that story about you guys really making that first down as everybody saw it was at least a yard short – biggest HOMER call if I have ever seen one!!! Our turnovers were the result of simple ballhandling technique discipline and players trying to do too much with an unprotected ball not hits Canes players delivered or pressure put on our QB. The first series we took it right down the field and smashed you guys in the mouth and could have easily gone up on you 14-0 with the punt return we took down to the 18 yard line before it was fumbled by our freshman back (who will be D1 as a Senior). Even your own coaching staff was “thankful” that you guys were still in the game at halftime as we had close to 300 yards of offense yet you guys were winning. BT Fan cited Max Preps as validation of your weak schedule but I didn’t even need to look it up to realize your team is Overrated with a capital “O.” BT Fan also said it best when he reminded you that even with our 6 turnovers and Homer Call on your behalf, we still fought hard and had a chance to win at the end due to our high character and talented coaching staff and toughness in this year’s group of kids. And please don’t talk academic trash about how we raise our kids – the mere fact that we are smart and hardworking enough to send our kids to a Catholic School vs. the crappy GA public school that we all know Cartersville is speaks volumes for where our priorities lie. Comparing Cartersville to BT is like comparing Kennesaw State to Harvard. BT is a college prep school that maybe 10% of the kids attending Cartersville could get into – 100% kids graduate and go on to college, while Cartersville graduates what, 67% who go on to cashier at Wal-Mart? And come next May, be sure to check out what school will win the Director’s Cup for all around best athletic program. You’ll see it will be the green and vegas gold of Blessed Trinity who will win it outright over St. Pius followed by a close 3rd in Woodward. You Canes hillbillies got your introduction to the newest school in AAA that will be dominating you in all sports for years to come. And yes, McFarlin is the man and we would have made him the first saint in coaching history if he would have pulled off the fake FG but we have decided to wait until next year when BT beats Buford and wins our 1st Football State Championship. Have fun next “weak” (pun intended as a reference to your schedule) getting destroyed by Thomsen. And yes, the green Kool-Aid tastes fine here in Roswell vs. that nasty grape you guys are drinking up in C-ville.

you really need some meds Mrs. M. BTW- did not notice you responded about that really tough schedule you guys played. Yes, you have a nice school and many State championships to your credit.
There is of course Two of the major sports that have not… Can you guess which one of them it might be? It should not take you too long to reply, and if you can keep it shorter than your last two diatribes (you should know what that word means-since you practice it in every one of your statements) that would be great.
Good luck to you and your meds, because being on them is the ONLY way YOU will see your team winning a state championship (again in FOOTBALL) next year. The out years is anyone’s guess, but with your meds, I am sure you believe it will happen in the land of OZ that you are in.

Cartersville”boy” – in case you didn’t notice, BT’s schedule was ranked #9 vs. Cartersville’s #18 – since you are obviously public school educated, what that means in simple logic is that YOURs was weaker than ours. You would never beat St. Pius and teams like Cedar Grove, Woodward, and Decatur would give you the same kind of run for your money as BT did and truth be told, with that game played 99 more times BT wins all of them as no way are they going to commit that many turnovers in one game ever again. Again, sad fact BT had 6 turnovers and still had a chance to win it at the end. Clearly shows the weakness of your team and clearly shows why you will be destroyed by Thomsen this week. If I were Coach Barden it would be best to just forfeit the game outright and save yourselves the embarrassment of getting blown out by 40 points or more.
Secondly, let’s remember BT is a school only 13 years old and only 11 years of playing Varsity Sports yet has already won close to 30 State Championships in a variety of sports and two Director’s Cups and this year we will add our third Director’s Cup. If you want to talk basketball and football we have been in the basketball state championship before in AA and it is only a matter of time til we win state in both basketball and football -that is why McFarlin is at BT and he’s ahead of schedule. Coach Marks is one of the best high school coaches in the state and nobody does a better job of winning with whatever talent he has. BT does not take part in the “AAU Slime Game” like the public schools do a la Boyd at Milton High School.
We are not on meds at BT – we just are used to being #1 in everything or being focused on being #1 and never accepting anything less.

Your overall tone in these posts (for someone who state’s they are from a Catholic family) is just one of a rambling parent, and am once again glad to see you post your long winded goofy statements at night time, just in time for the meds to kick in. Having any other communication with you is not worth the time any longer, because you really need some professional help.
Maybe a good day of adoration (I am sure you know what that is) instead of an hour writing your silly posts would better serve you. Good luck with your re-fill on your meds (you might want to ask for an increase) and yes, I will give you credit for being number 1 here as well. The number 1 clueless and delusional parent who just cant believe they are not playing this Friday night, but maybe its the bus driver’s fault for taking the wrong route to our game last Friday, and was why the boys turned the ball over so many times.
