It’s not often that a region pulls off a four-game sweep in the first round of the playoffs in the highest classification. The task of preventing it this year in Class AAAAAA falls to McEachern, which offers Region 4 its best shot against Region 1. I expect the Indians to survive in a tough battle with Colquitt County, but if Colquitt wins it will be a long night for Cobb County. Valdosta should prevail at North Cobb, and Marietta and Hillgrove can expect long rides home from Lowndes and Camden County, respectively.
Congratulations go out to Maurice Graham of Lithonia, who was last week’s winner in the High School Football Pickoff contest. Graham was one of five contestants to correctly pick the winner in 13 of 15 games and won the tiebreaker for the closest guess of the score in the Eagle’s Landing Christian-Landmark Christian game. Pffftttt! I almost spit out my coffee I’m laughing so hard! What are these AJC reporters smoking? Same old thing every year as they puff up their metro Atlanta cupcakes. A couple of years ago, it was “Can Lassiter Be Stopped?” (actual headline). Well, 46-17 later we know what happened. Maybe they ought to dig Mason Hudson off the UGA bench and ask him how many TD passes he threw for Colquitt (2). Oh, my side hurts! The Pack rolls again tonight.

The taking of the team a day early for distance trips such as this is a formula thats worked for him in the past. It allows for a more controlled environment of meetings and rest. Friday is an early release day for those who completed the required paperwork so players missed a small part of yesterday afternoon and half a day today. Those who did not go yesterday are leaving at 1:00 which is after the early release time of 12:30.

I can see where a team traveling from one end of the state to another would want to come up and spend the night instead of getting off a bus after 3 plus hours and having your legs missing that extra bounce in their step. I am sure they have their class assignments with them.
But if they do not want to study in their rooms maybe the traveling players can buddy up with a player from the other team and spend a day at the host school. They could even attend the pep rally. What a hoot. Good times for all.
I do wonder though, who is paying the tab? Parents? Boosters? Gate receipts? TV?

It’s amazing how these predictions have already given the victories to region1 over region4. I guess there is no need to play the games. I guess all region4 teams should just forfeit and go to class. Give me a break. This is ridiculus. When Marietta beat Lowndes tonight is will be called an upset, but it won’t be an upset in our eyes. Our guys belong on the field and deserve just as much respect as anyone else. Keep pumping up region1 as unbeatable; let it go to the Lowndes’ players head and see what happens when you read your own news clippings too much and underestimate a team. When that happens, the ride will be long, but only in distance; not in emotion.
McCeachern, NC, and Marietta all have equal chances of beating region1 teams just as they have the chance to beat us. Hillgrove, although I am pulling for them, tend to start slow and that will not fly against Camden.
Now when the first three teams win tonight, it would great to see the the AJC predictors come back on a give as much praise and press to region4 as you do region1. #nuffsaid

@Tussy — Ever been to a baseball game? Coaches steal other teams signals all the time. GHSA says there is no rule against it, and most teams do it to some degree. That’s why some coaches call plays with a clipboard in front of their mouth. But the fact remains, LOWNDES DID NOT STEAL COLQUITT’S PLAYS.
@OMacG — Have ya’ll fixed the score board clock yet? Will the refs know how to accurately count time outs? Beware of Propst. I don’t like him but man can the guy coach!
‘Bout time to head out to the CP and get ready for some football and Blue Devil stew. Good weather for it!

Propst may not be the most likable guy, but I have to admit the guy has gotten in everyone’s heads, and that’s worth a lot. Camden is one of the elite teams in the state, and they freak out whenever they play him. Conn over at Grayson, and now the guy at Lowndes, hire ex-coaches from his staff to steal plays, I guess because they fear him. And he knows how to work the refs. Look for Colquitt to go deep into the playoffs again this year.

Whether its cheating or not, doesn’t really matter anyways, you are foolish to think they weren’t stealing plays. It was never about cheating to Propst, it was all about ethics. Fact remains, buzz has been a part of Colquitts 3 out last 5 losses. Doesn’t matter though, we’re all past that mess, but it was still obvious what was going on. If you don’t see it or say it wasn’t, then you are just BSing. Rush will mix things up and be ready. Ever since that 4th quarter started against Valdosta, we’ve been on a tear

Grudging admiration for Propst, though. He’s like Steve Spurrier — everyone out there hates him, coaches and fans alike, but he tells it like it is and keeps winning.

Why? He hasn’t done anything in Moultrie, not even close to anything. He cheated on his wife at Hoover, big deal. Have you disowned every you know that cheated on their spouses? He’s still with the woman he cheated with. And some reporter accused him of cheating, it was never proven. So what do you say he’s done?
