Camden’s play for the first 12 minutes of the game tonight was not very good at all.Thank goodness for the defense. IMO, that will be the major difference for the rest of the playoffs, who plays defense! :-D

Lowndes had a solid year….9-2………i thought coming into the year we would be 7-3 or 8-2….we succeeded my expectations……….very young team overall……

i will take 9-1 (5-1) in region 1 anyday…even on sunday.

we will be back and figure out what we have to do….we are right there and we have a lot of talent coming up

Camden 74-If Gwinnett didn’t have to knock each other out in round 1 or 2 every yearwe would probably win the title 80% of the time but GHSA had to nuetralize the great teams out of Gwinnett. I love it that all you South Georgia boys are now talking about the numbers where yesterday all of you boys were predicting an all region 1 semi-finals. I believe you guys could gain some credibility if you just said “Hey you were right region 1 is OVERRATED”

Bummer. Just back from Cantrell Stadium. Good game but the Indians came up a bit short. They were a really fun team to watch this year. Got better over time. Congrats to the Colquit Packers and good luck through the rest of the playoffs. Might see y’all at the dome . . .

There could be an all-star team assembled from schools within a 20 minute drive of each other here that would be favored. There are some great players in R1 but the numbers aren’t with you

Camden74 like it or not, Gwinnett is the best area in football right now but that should be expected because of the number and size of the schools. They also have very good youth leagues that do tie in loosely to the high schools. It does not guarantee championships but like happens in region 1, it does mean Gwinnett will have schools in the running for championships.

Just as I surmised, Griffin was bounced out again early. They were completely over-matched, out-coached and out-played. Those Monroe Tornadoes came to play, and they dealt a sho-nuff butt whipping on the lame Bears. I predicted as much, but am still disappointed that Griffin barely even showed up for the game. They were absolutely EMBARRASSED in their own house. I hope that Jerk PA announcer (named Rodney McCord) has nightmares of choking on his stupid overly-biased announcements about “This is how we do it at the house” – Yeah, LOSE! I hereby rescind any and all allegiance to Griffin High School, as they are perpetual LOSERS and I will not associate with them in any way shape or form, including (but not limited to) any and all booster gifts, fund-raising support, or team help or encouragement in any way. I’m done. With all that, A hearty congratulations to a well coached team from Albany in the Monroe Golden Tornadoes. Good luck against Burke, You are going to need it.

Look at Camden74 and the other ALMIGHTY region 1 6A loudmouths putting the SPIN on things. Calling the Gwinnett guys unbelievable. HAHAAAH This is what Atlanta fans deal weekly reading you region 1 posters. You OVERRATED region 1 necks knew how the numbers would work out in the playoffs. Yeah Camden and Colquit Co won but you boys are the “SEC the best Region in ALL OF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL!!!!!” C’mon on please!!!!! You region one boys for how LOUD you all talked knew it was going to be region 1’s four teams vs four metro Atlanta 4 teams. You LOUDMOUTH BLOWM HARDS cried so loud that the AJC didn’t cover us (EVEN THOUGH YOU ALL ARE 100 MILES AWAY). Yet you morons thought you were walking on water. Boys time’s have have changed. Region 1 could win state but you boys aren’t as SUPERIOR as you think.

Those that are saying stuff about Region 1 or South Georgia being overrated and then bringing up history are fools. History obviously shows South Georgia teams have dominated AAAAAA the past 10-15 years. They still have 2 very likely contendered in it this year. A 2-2 record for Region 1 isn’t great but its not like one of their title contenders went down. Lowndes could have made a little run, but Lowndes wasn’t a state championship team this year. History shows Region 1/South Georgia are the teams to beat, and this year with Camden and Colquitt still playing it is no different. Some years even Region 1 teams will fall, just like the SEC who will likely not have a team in the championship this year. Does that mean the SEC is overrated? It happens. Enjoy it while you can because we all known Lowndes and Region 1 will be back in the hunt next year.

Sportsnut and GwinnettDad…since you two seem to be the blog historians for the year. I challenge you to find one post that someone(other than bksmith) made about Lowndes or Valdosta being a “dominant” team and favored to win the state this year…everyone down here knew that this was not going to be a good year. I will go you one better, mostly everyone down here agrees that Valdosta will likely never win another title at 6A with an average of 1700-1800 students, so to continuely brag about the demise of Valdosta is stating and re-stating the obvious.

Did I think R1 would go 4-0, yes of course…am I surprised they did not? Not at all, but I find it funny how you stated that Colquitt “sort of” did it by beating the #1 seed. Isn’t that a bigger upset than N Cobb over Valdosta?

The Cross…take your time, you obviously have plenty of it. A prediction is not a statement of “dominance” it simply implies that you think your team will win, which is pretty much the angle of every poster I know. I have not heard many posts stating that people will think their team will lose. So feel free to find predictions all you want, but that has nothing to do with my statement.

I am actually rooting for Norcross, I know someone who has a close relationship with the coach and I love to see the brothers succeed.

Gwinnettdad- Did you go back 16 years just to add another Gwinnett team in there? lol Look at the numbers….Current Region 1 teams have 8 teams compared to 20+ for Gwinnett? Yet, Region 1 still has more titles. Look at the numbers the last 10 years. Obviously Parkview has several of Gwinnett’s and they have kind of just falling off the map the last 8-10 years, whereas the Region 1 teams are there year in and year out. Grayson, North Gwinnett, and others are good. Really good, but to say South Georgia is overrated because Valdosta and Lowndes lost is crazy. Lowndes loss was surprising, I’ll admit, but I don’t think you will find a Region 1 guy who would have said at any point in the season, Lowndes was a championship contender. Could they have won it? Of course, but going in Camden and Colquitt were the teams expected to win it, and they are still around.

NYCDAWGFAN: yeah its easy to come on here and brag when you win, but when you lose you will be the first one hiding. The Griffin folks knew they had a rough go of it this year, and just because they lost does not mean they are not the REAL BEARS. They were the BEARS when Waynesboro were the (lame) Purple Hurricanes. You are probably not old enough to know about them. Griffin is a good school, and will be strong again one day, just as Burke will suffer from graduation like all schools do, unless of course they get caught with all that recruiting. Sandy Creek will bounce you and I will be there to see it live, will you? (didnt think so)
