By Score Atlanta

Allatoona 24, Heritage-Conyers 21: Visiting Heritage led twice, but could not hold on. Quarterback Jeremy Uzee scored on a quarterback sneak and threw a touchdown pass to Clarence Soleberry. T.J. Herron scored Allatoona’s other touchdown on an 8-yard run. Heritage-Conyers missed a 47-yard field goal with 30 seconds remaining to tie the contest.

Harris County 31 Northgate 14: Host Harris County led by 10 at the half and was able to hold on to that lead and advance. Cornerback Taquon Marshall intercepted a first quarter pass and took it in for a touchdown for Harrison County’s opening score. Running back Esais Chatman led the way with 205 yards and added two touchdowns.

Kell 19, Southwest DeKalb 14: Julian Burris hauled in a 48-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Matthew McGuigan to give the host Longhorns the lead with just 25 seconds left. Running back Khalil Bell scored on a 5-yard run and Brendan Langley caught a 28-yard pass from McGuigan to lead Kell over the Panthers.

North Paulding 63, Flowery Branch 42: Visiting North Paulding used some trickery and quarterback Chase Noonan to defeat Flowery Branch. Noonan threw five touchdown passes and scored a rushing touchdown. Matt Mixon caught four of the five touchdown passes. North Paulding’s Jamaad Stephens caught Flowery Branch off guard by throwing a 47-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Davis.

Tucker 42, Creekview 25: Visiting Tucker trailed Creekview early in the game but jumped to a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. Tucker would score three touchdowns in the second quarter to make the halftime score 28-7. Creekview scored 14 points in the third quarter, but could not catch Tucker.

My guess is Stephenson will win. That being said, don’t look past Pope. Their 3 losses are against Marietta (which just beat Lowndes), Wheeler (AAAAAA playoff team) and Kell #4 AAAAA. Good luck to both teams.

@JAB the SWD game was off the chain. Kell scored
under a minute left in the game. SWD had a chance to put it
away in the 3rd but U know how Buck do n his larer years. But hats off
to Sourhwest U were the only one who knew they could do it.
Will be shocked if Kell gets past Gainesville, cause SWD had a chance to
beat them by 2 TD’s. Was looking forward to a possible all 6 AAAAA
semi finals. Now it’s time for the Jags to take care of Biz….

Totally inaccurate reporting of the North Paulding – Flowery Branch game. North Paulding had all the momentum first half and led 42- 7 at the half, with some outstanding defense and a potent ground and air attack. Then it was Flowery Branch with most of the momentum the 2nd half. It was Flowery Branch who used a lot of trickery not North Paulding. They tried to mount a comeback on a flea flicker for a TD and on-side kicks. But NP gained the momentum back late in the 2nd half to hold out for the win. Hope the Flowery Branch player is alright who was carted off the field. Both teams played an outstanding game and left it all out on the field tonight. Now on to Tucker for NP!

Congrats to Creekview on hosting your first playoff game, that is a step in the right direction on building a good program. 9-2 season is better than a lot of teams this year. Hold your heads high, you guys fought until the last minute and showed you had heart.

SWD I was pulling for you guys, congrats on a good season !! You represented Dekalb well last night and keep your heads up. Kell knows they are lucky to have escaped the jaws of defeat. You guys fought through the toughest region in the state to make the playoffs and that is something to be proud of.

Hopefully you guys will be out to cheer on the rest of Region 6. Throughout the playoffs. MLK and Tucker will have home games next Friday.

Stephenson, I hope you guys are focused on tonight. Any team can lose on any night. You shouldn’t have a problem at all, but stanger things have happened.

Tucker, you know what you need to do and how to do it. Next week it’s NP coming into your house.

Yea, I do believe I called the North Paulding Upset this week. Yes I also thought Creekview may upset Tucker. But I wasn’t as sure on that one as I was on the North Paulding game. Tucker can play defense but Flowery Branch can’t. Great Job to coach Jones and to the North Paulding players. Region 5 goes 3-1. Lets keep it up guys.

East played average last night, didn’t throw the ball too much. They had to over come a lot of adversity that the officials caused. Probably the worst officiated game I’ve seen in a very long time. But hey, its high school football, and the Raiders live to see another round. Might have to check out the Stephenson/Pope game today. Should be some good match ups next week between Region 5 and Region 6. So let the smack talk now begin guys.

I agree with you “Cowbell”, that was some terrible officiating last night. How in the world could anyone call an obvious fumble by C.C. and later an obvious completed pass by E.P. both incomplete passes. There was also a holding call on E.P. called by a ref on our sideline but there wasn’t anyone except M. Webb within 20 yards of him. Who in the world was here throwing the flag on. Oh well, a win is a win and the Raiders move on to host round two next week against the winner of the Pope/Stephenson game today. I would love to watch it myself but won’t have time. I’ll have to sneak in here an check updates when I can.

The Fumble by C.C. was funny. EPs film man came up the stands at the half and said he told the ref he had it on film, he knew we didn’t have instant replay but if he wanted to see it again he would show him so he wouldn’t make the mistake again. The game wasn’t and never should have been as close as it was last night. A win is a win.

Round 2 next week. I hope Aaron Black is ok to play.

THE "CANNON RULES"!!

11:22 am

Well I was planning to get hoe from the game last night and post…

I got in,started several post and then stopped…needed some deep breaths…

FIRST and MOST IMPORTANT…
the score—> EAST PAULDING 31 / CLARKE CENTRAL 23!!

RAIDERS move on to ROUND 2!!

Now the VENT…EAST has had issues thru the year (like many teams) with an several refs usually from the ETOWAH VALLAY ASSOCIATION! I have decided this is just going to happen…some take the job too serious and call a game way too close and don’t let the kids play while others are just plain STUPID with their calls! The best we can hope for is that one of the bad call (use mistake, error, missed or whatever term you want here) doesn’t change the outcome of a game… ESPECIALLY A PLAYOFF GAME THIS TIME OF THE YEAR!

Last night unfortunately was one of those games and as they announced the refs and where they were from it appeared they were each from different associations..maybe the G.H.S.A. does this and mixes them up?…I don’t know…

This game should have easily been EAST 38+ / CLARKE CENTRAL 9 (maybe)…

On the last TD drive alone these REF’s called 3 different 15 yard penalties against EAST!!! Late in the game allowing CLARKE CENTRAL to pull within the 31 / 23 score…this left the game within a onside kick recovery and a TD with a 2 point conversion of being tied!!! UNREAL!!!!

During the game they called pass interference calls against EAST when BOTH players were looking back at the ball and going for it. NO HOLDING, NO HANDS wrapped around the receiver nothing but two players…one going for the catch the other for the interception! AND they made the calls late after the play as if he had to “THINK ABOUT IT”.

They called bad grounding calls against the EAST QB while allowing the QB to be sacked, hit and rolled on without calling roughing the passer! While allowing the CLARKE CENTRAL QB to avoid a sack by simply drop the ball as he got hit and calling it an incomplete pass!

OK…I feel better now…………..again the most important thing!!

the FINAL score—> EAST PAULDING 31 / CLARKE CENTRAL 23!!

RAIDERS move on to ROUND 2!!

CONGRATULATIONS also to ALLATOONA for their win over HERITAGE / CONYERS!

and a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to NORTH PAULDING for their FIRST PLAYOFF WIN…on the road! and against the # 1 team from REGION 8 FLOWERY BRANCH!!

So REGION 5 goes 3 / 1 last night! GOOD JOB GUYS! (Sorry ROME)

TICK…TICK…TICK…BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
GO RAIDERS!!!

Was at the Creekview/Tucker game last night. Congratulations to Tucker. We knew going in that we were going to have to play a mistake free game and try to hold down their speed. Well, in a nutshell, we did neither, but our boy’s fought hard to the end. We just couldn’t get to the edge(speed) and between the tackles(size) in the running game. We did have some success in the air in the flats but they knew what was coming and tried to pick-six a lot and missed and gave us a bit of an advantage. If I could mention one thing that was a negative in Tucker’s play was their penalties. They got sloppy on D and gave us some advantages…. they will have to change that if they want to go deep in the playoffs IMO. We played Kell even up and maybe should have won that game and IMO Tucker was the better team overall in our 2 losses. BTW, Tucker’s band was super.

Let’s see now REGION 5 went 3 / 1 last night and REGION 6 is sitting at 2 / 1
with tonight’s POPE / STEPHENSON game left to go.

You better be careful now with a “HOT” NORTH PAULDING team coming to call next week!

While it is ALWAYS different when you “COME EAST”…those boys from NORTH may just sneak up on you! That was a HUGE STATEMENT win for their program! No matter which of you wins the following week baring an upset of epic proportion somebody is going to be facing a ROAD TRIP to face N.S.W.R.!!!

Must be a trend with the officiating, NP vs. FB officials were definitely off their “game” last night. Erroneous holding calls all night, questionable intentional grounding calls, threw flags late after the play and after being intimidated by the coaches on the sidelines, not good. And oh, let the Flowery Branch QB “talk” to his coach under a “officials time out”, unbelievable!

@SpartFart10, NP fans did travel pretty good last night, but what a painful ride. Traffic going East on 285 is brutal on a Friday afternoon, then up 85 is true horror! Glad to be a NW kinda guy. Hopefully its not that bad again next week going to Tucker if its a Friday game, Black Friday, but can’t beat being in the 2nd round!

@ SpartFart10…

Yeah several others have also commented about the attendance. Many of us get on here and comment about how good the RAIDER NATION travels to away games, this was VERY DISAPPOINTING for a 1st ROUND playoff game with a UNDEFEATED REGION CHAMPION!

The ALLATOONA / EAST game the week before had a LOT HIGHER excitement level and probably 50% more folks on the HOME side. We sure better show up and support the team better next Friday for the ROUND 2 game! The kids need to see those stands and hillside crowded!

The CLARKE CENTRAL side was kinda as I expected to see…it was quite and lonely over there!

Several of us are heading to the POPE / STEPHENSON game tonight, should be fun to see who EAST will face next week and how they look!

Reg5, 3-1 over Reg8 and
Reg6, 3-1 over Reg7

And now Rnd 2 those Reg5 and Reg6 winners go head up against each. The two regions who have more bloggers than any other. The Reg6 group who is the self-proclaimed best region in AAAAA. Reg6 with mostly East bloggers, a few Bucs and a couple of North new comers

On paper and per the bloggers Reg6 has size able edge it would seem. Reg6 will be heavy favorites in two games and just a slight underdog in the other.

1-MLK hosting 2- Allatoona, I being a hard fought contest with MLK pulling away down the stretch 28-14.

1-East hosting 2-Stephenson, great matchup but the real East shows up and takes a 38-24 game.

3-Tucker hosting 4-North Paulding. Who’d a thunk it. WOW. Is likely the biggest mismatch of round two in any classification and look for Tucker to be favored by at least 30. Not likely that the State Champs will overlook the Wolfpack after the points they put up against Flowery Branch. Make no mistake about it though, Tucker is NOT FB, and North will realize what Big Boy football is after their trip to Adams stadium. It can be a learning experience for this very young and new to the scene team. Look for a final on the order of Tucker 56 maybe 62 to 17 or possibly 24. Pack keep your heads up, as your victory last week has flipped the switch and next year you will start with more confidence then ever before.
