JAGUARS STAND UP! A complete resembling of another region 7 foe by a region 6 POWERHOUSE. Region 6 victories have been VERY impressive and well, just plain predictable. Has the jinks been lifted from Stephenson? Round 2 matchup, with the Raiders of East Paulding will tell the story. One fact is certain, EP will be facing their FIRST challenge of the year and the Jaguars are a well tested football team.
Both region 6 & region 5 brings three teams to the dance in round 2, which one will leave with the most victories and who will be preparing for their basketball seasons?
Allatoona at MLK – The Lions jump on the Bucs quick in the Mighty Cats jungle known as Hallford and well, let’s just say, the Bucs start preparing their season of round ball for, again, another round of matchups with region 6 and its HS basketball domination.
North Paulding at Tucker – The Tigers ends the Wolfpack’s Cinderella season and move on to face the winner of the NSWR/TCC barnburner – could be another SHOWDOWN of two POWERHOUSE football programs are a rivalry establish with one of South GA’s HISTORICAL CHAMPIONSHIP football PROGRAMS.
Stephenson at East Paulding – Will the Jaguars silence the CANNON at the BONEYARD, for the 2012 football season and remove the curse of not living up to its talent in the playoffs, or will the Raiders continue their quest of respect on being one of 5A yearly POWERHOUSES? The winner will need to play mistake free football – giving the edge to the Jags for their 2012 body of work … Stephenson finally gets the monkey off its back.
LET THE CHEST BEATING START!!!! (LOL)

@JAB, You go right ahead and disparage our region and our teams. I’ve ready said the out come will likely be. 2-1 in favor if Reg6, but I ill keep an eye out to see how your rants get more and more exaggerated as the week goes on. Run you mouth all you want about your battle tested region and how great you all are,,,, East has been to the big dance a few times itself. Your respectful apology will be accepted graciously after. Also, trust me your coaches are concerned right now if they can match the physicalness of East on the both sides of the lines. Tape doesn’t lie and East is as strong of a team as you will play.

LOL, Since when did Mays and Miller Grove become powerhouses. SWD, ehh they haven’t really made much noise lately deep in the playoffs, but I’ll give you that one. But Mays and Miller Grove, come on now. North Paulding and Allatoona would smoke Mays and Miller Grove and thats a fact. Just the mighty powerhouse Mays what its like coming to the Boneyard and trying to win. They seemingly went and hid after they found out East liked to be physical and hit ya in the mouth. Now Stephenson is a different animal I know this. Coach Gartrell has been trying to get over the hump for years. He has always had a boat load of talent at his disposal but for some reason just hasn’t ever gotten their full potential out of them. Nothing changes for the Jags this coming Friday, they too will find out what its like to be hit in the mouth on both sides of the football. If Stephenson is gonna win this game, they better find a way to run the ball to keep the pressure off their qb or its gonna be a very long night of him picking himself up off the ground. So be ready Stephenson, and make sure you have your mouth pieces in and your chinstraps buckled up cause your gonna get the taste knocked out of your mouth when you come play the Raiders in the Boneyard.

Please tell me when exactly did Miller Grove and Mays become power house programs. As a matter of fact talk to Mays and they will tell you exactly what its like to go into the Boneyard and play the Raiders. They were hit in the mouth all night long and just didn’t like it one bit. If Stephenson is gonna win this game they better be able to run the ball, if they can’t then its gonna be a long night for their qb because he will find out real quick picking himself up off the ground gets old real quick. The Jags better bring their mouth pieces and make sure they have their chinstraps buckled up tight, because they are gonna find out what its like first hand to feel what its like to get the taste knocked out of their mouths by the Raiders in the Boneyard. Friday night Stephenson will remember what its like to play the Raiders!!!!!

I think we might have a easy draw with TCC We have beat them the past 2 years 34-14 then last year put a beating on them 45-7. I dont think this year will be any different. I hope Tucker is ready for a Showdown in round 3 I highly doubt history will repeat itself a second time in a row!

Yea.. I wouldnt really call Mays or Miller Grove powerhouses. Miller Grove is most definitely a powerhouse in basketball, but we arent talking about that. I love my Mays Raiders, but i wouldnt exactly say they are powerhouses. I think if Stephenson comes to play, they will give EP a run for their money
All I have to say is.......

It is playoff football and ANY team can win. North Paulding proved this Friday night. The East Raiders KNOW they played like crap Friday. The players know Stephenson is NO joke. Our bloggers may get on here an talk a lot of crap but the players are the ones who matter. We except a great game Friday. What I find interesting is they run the same type offense. So, I would think this could be really interesting.

If Stephenson is able to run the ball effectively East will have a long night. But If the Jags cant get anything going on the ground, I look for East to put this one away by the 4th qtr.

I have been involved with the East program since 2001 when our boys got whipped every Friday night. Those same kids stood up as seniors in 2006 and knocked fire from all those teams that used to punish them. That’s when the hard hitting fearless/ reckless abandon mentality took hold. Now, the little brothers with those same fearless genes don the Raider gear and prepare for battle this week against Stephenson but this is only a battle. These young men are driven and their goal is in sight but the goal involves 14 battles which will enable them to declare all out WAR on the final victim!

@Jab it doesn’t matter who you play through out the season, all yhat matters is how you play in the now, not what you did last week or the week before, that will have no bearing on the game at hand. That is bush league logic right there. But… East defeated Rome by 40+ which was a playoff team. Defeated North Paulding by 3 scores another playoff team that beat #1 seed flowery branch Friday. And beat Allatoona yet another team that is headed to the 2ed round by 3 scores… but yea they didnt play anyone.

Thank you kindly, I am so sick and tired of folks saying East doesn’t play anyone. Guess what folks, they can’t help it. Its the schedule that is put in front of them and they take care of business every week. A win is a win, East is a very good football team. they get after it on defense and they like to pound the rock right at you on offense. However do not over look their passing game, because they have a guy out there that is perhaps one of the best in the state that isn’t being talked about right now. #15 can sling the ball and sling it well and very accurate, he is also not afraid to tuck it and run down field to pick up some yards. Just be warned Stephenson, this isn’t a one dimensional football team you guys are used to seeing week in and week out in Region 6. The Raiders are for real and you will find out Friday night.

Stephenson will not run the ball on us, they don`t have the size nor speed you need to run on East, our defense is big and fast. This will not be close. Ware (where) are you.

I might be the realistic one this week. We looked very average in the 2nd and into the 3rd quarter. Our line play was no better than the 5-5 team we played. In fact, during that stretch they moved the ball better than we did. We did have a drive end after out receiver caught the ball and placed in on the field and the ref called it incomplete. And CC was 4 and out except for a bad interference call against us. But…we also had 30 yards of other penalties on that drive that we did deserve and about 100 yards in penalties total. Play that sloppy and undisciplined like that this Friday and there won’t be a round three.

Don’t get me wrong everyone. Stephenson is a very talented football team. They have a center at 6′2 295 and he looks like on film he is just a beast. I noticed that Stephenson has several WR’s over 6′0 which I’m sure are pretty fast as well. Lets not forget their RB either. I watched the film on the tucker game and on one play early in the game he shot up the middle of Tuckers defense and out ran every one of them but it was called back because of a penalty. The Jaguars run a multiple look on offense but it seems to me that they run a good bit of stuff from the I-formation. There are times when they get in a mode to where they like to sling the ball as well, even though they are having success at running the ball. On Defense they like to stack the box but teams have had pretty good success running the ball no matter how many people they put in there. So yes, Stephenson is very talented and will be a very tough and formidable opponent for East Paulding. I still say that if Stephenson can’t run the football they don’t have a chance to win this game. If you look back at all of East’s opponents this year. The teams that had success and were able to keep it close against them were the ones that were able to run the ball, Hiram, South Paulding, and Clarke Central. If Stephenson is able to run the ball it will be a long night for the Raiders. Being one dimensional against East’s defense doesn’t work out too well for teams this year. Rome and Allatoona are prime examples. Both teams liked running the ball and they did it very well against other competition but East shut them down and put several TD’s on the board which made them have to throw the ball and well that doesn’t work out very well when your down 21-0 because they Raider defense pin their ears back and come right at you. I’m not being one sided here, I know a good football team when I see one and Stephenson will be the best team East has played all year, its gonna be tough Friday night. But East can win this game, may not be by a large margin like folks are use too but hey its the playoffs. Teams are gonna be a whole lot tougher. I’m looking forward to a great game.
