If Camden County d. Colquitt County in semis, how can Grayson d. Colquitt County in final?

Lassiter will make it to the finals. And their game against Camden Co. should be a great one.

I see it pretty close to this. The difference is an all Region 16A semi finals. With the final being Lowndes vs Camden. And Lowndes wins it in a close one.

Definitely won’t be easy but if we keep playing the way we have, I think we can go far. I told some people that while we might be weaker at a couple of positions, I think the overall team this year might be better than last year. I still don’t know what happened vs Parkview but that loss sure did help up get focused!

Interesting, predicting Mill Creek over Alpharetta in round 1. I do not know much about Mill Creek so I will not question the pick. But I was looking at a potential Lassiter/Printz vs Alpharetta/Dobbs 2nd round matchup thinking that would be fun to watch (assuming Lassiter still came out on top).

Todd Holcomb-The Norcross faithful would like a written apology on December 16th for the lack of respect that you have shown to the best team in the state of Georgia. It does not have to be long, but a simple I apolgize, I was wrong and I do not know what I could have been thinking not to have Norcross number 1 all year and then picking Camden to beat them in the quarterfinals. Again, I apologize to the best team in the state of Georgia. Sincerely, Todd Holcomb

Lots of disrespect here. This is good though. It will light a fire under certain teams and they will win. No better way to motivate than to tell them they have no chance.

@ Fred
I agree 100% on this years TEAM being better than last years, especially on the defensive side of the ball. We may be a little less talented at a few positions but I think those guys have stepped up and we honsetly havent missed a beat other than imo a mental lapse in the Parkview game. It will be a tough row to hoe but I have confidence they can repeat the mission.

The Cross, are you willing to do the same should Camden (or anyone else) beat Norcross? I am not taking sides but that should work both ways. FWIW an undefeated Lassiter versus an undefeated Norcross in the championship would be awesome.

Marietta has a talented quarterback and receivers. North Cobb has a talented quarterback who is a triple threat with speedy receivers and a pretty good defense. McEachern has a stable of swift backs and a stout defense. These teams should provide some good competition to Region 1.

Todd I agree with your predictions except the final. I see Camden this year. If not for all the prior road trips I might have taken Valdosta over Lassiter. The road will eventually wear on Valdosta though.

I can sense one possible upset already. Norcross who has already beaten South Gwinnett and looking ahead to Camden. Just might end up taking South a little too lightly.

Heinsenberg: Regarding the pick by Holcomb of Mill Creek over Alpharetta, it is more than likely based on 2 reasons:
– The quality of teams in Region 7 is considered to higher than Region 6 so picking #3 seed to beat #2 seed is not surprising (actually surprised that Holcomb did not pick Collins Hill to beat West Forsyth)
– Alpharetta’s only regular season loss last year was to Mill Creek (at Alpharetta) by the score of 42-7. Mill Creek only went 5-5 last year and didn’t make the playoffs in Region 7.

I’m not even sure why Lowndes is in the playoffs. We looked like girls when Camden beat us. Seems the only way we can beat a good team is if we cheat. I’m seriously thinking about moving to Tifton and becoming a Tift fan. I’m ashamed of our coaches for cheating, our fans for supporting the cheaters and our team for not showing up against Camden. I’m going to pray and cheer for a Grayson/Norcross Championship game. Real football in this state is played in Gwinnett County!

HS Football, thanks for the insights.
I suppose depending on the roster turnover from last year, that could be a meaningful barometer. I do find it curious though when someone postulates how well a team will perform this year based on what happened several years ago. Are they not aware that the rosters have churned over a few times since then?

No jville they are not. I won’t go into the reasons why the offense couldn’t get anything going but let’s just say that after a recovery from that game (and a few other reasons) they beat Brookwood, Archer and Parkview.

South, I understand the 1st game of the season because getting the kinks worked out and players jelling, plus the fact Norcross is a great team. I watched the Parkview game, but did the wheels fall off or what against Grayson? You were averaging 39 points a game going in and didn’t even score.

You can say the wheels fell off. I’m not going to say things I don’t know for sure but there was a moment in the beginning of the game on offense where a certain hit changed one player for the rest of the game. Sitting in the stands we saw a difference from that moment on.

Colquitt beat Camden Friday night. Colquitt has beaten Camden 2 out of the last 3 times by 2 points. It could end that way again. Don’t see it happening. I think Colquitt’s biggest problem is over confidence. Keep picking them to lose and they will win. If Camden and Colquitt meet again the story will be much different. Hopefully with Camden having the last word.

South Gwinnett will shock people in the playoffs this year… Very Explosive offense can score at anytime! They’ve got one of the most underrated receivers in state in Bernard Morrison… If coaches handle business they will definitely be an underdog team to look out for….
Colquitt is also a team that can take this thing home….

Robo71. I know Grayson had four shutouts, a 7, a 3 point games. They only allowed Shiloh and Parkview to score more than 20 and are averaging only giving up around 8 points a game. I would say their defense is pretty legit. Oh yea don’t they have this defensive end on the team that is supposed to be pretty good? LOL

All chest pounding to the side, this year could easily be a Region 1 VS Region 1 championship match up or a Gwinnett match up. Do we all agree this year it could happen? Sorry Lassiter, I don’t see you guys getting too far based on your schedule and the competition in your region. I am not disrespecting, but your in for a rude awakening when you face Camden, Lowndes, Colquitt, Grayson, and Norcross. All of the mentioned programs are very talented and have been to the dance.

First of all, you have a better chance of having a wildcat fly out of your butt before that would happen. Secondly, there are 5 teams from Gwinnett that have a better chance of reaching the semis before anyone from region 1.

The Cross….. Let’s be sensible now. You have to ignore some of the bloggers that get under your skin, but Region 1 has a lot of talent. Last years state championship was Colquitt VS Grayson. That was a hell of a game. The Packers come to play during the play offs. I hate their arrogant coach and I am glad we won, but again, what a game. I am sure they are coming after us this year.
