CONGRATULATIONS TO THE EAST PAULDING RAIDERS!!!

UNDEFEATED SEASON!!! REGION 5 AAAAA CHAMPIONS!!!

ALLATOONA, who had jumped from AAA last year to AAAAA this year, came into “THE BONEYARD” at 9 / 0 last night. This was a game we had all been waiting on pretty much from the 1st game this season. The ALLATOONA fans FILLED the visitor’s side and spilled over with folks standing on the fences. GOOD JOB “TOONA” fans that’s how you show the kid’s you appreciate their hard work…

Facing “TOONA” was the UNDEFEATED EAST PAULDING RAIDERS also at 9 / 0…this game was for all the marbles! The 2012 REGION 5 AAAAA CHAMPIONSHIP! & the #1 SEED in the playoffs!

With FOX 5 “HIGH FIVE” & Bill Hartman in the house along with COMCAST XFINITY doing a tape delay that will be available “on demand” the excitement level was over the top!!! EAST won the toss and deferred to the 2nd half…the ball was set, the CANNON fired it’s first shot of the night and BOOOOOM!!!! it was ON!!!!

EAST scored first to go up 7 / 0 then added a 2nd TD but “Mr. Automatic” actually missed the extra point! Everyone was going “HUH”!!! That just doesn’t happen! Score was 13 / 0 and with the “D” stepping up ALL NIGHT, ALLATOONA couldn’t score…”TOONA” made several long clock eating drives but couldn’t finish until the 3:35 mark of the 4th quarter when they threw a pass into the corner of the endzone for their only score of the night!

EAST had a TD called back due to a block in the back (it was a good call) and a missed FG or the score could have been 35+ but at the end of the night as the CANNON fired to signal the victory, the COACH got doused with the water cooler and EAST had it’s 2nd REGION CHAMPIONSHIP in school history.

EAST PAULDING RAIDERS 25 / ALLATOONA 7!!!

EAST gets CLARKE CENTRAL next week in “THE BONEYARD” and ALLATOONA has HERITAGE / CONYERS coming to them….REGROUP “TOONA” and take care of business next week!!!

TICK…TICK…TICK…BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
GO RAIDERS!!!
2012 REGION 5 AAAAA CHAMPIONS!…ON TO THE DOME!!!!

bksmith 14 Lowndes scored 10 points on offense agaist colquitt 10 points if that means manhandled then you must be very small minded. so i shouldn’t be suprised by reading your other posts. Camden beat yall by 17 Suck it up BIG BOY if you had greg reid and josh harvey clemons and all your former players Lowndes would have beat Camden too LOL

Bk is clowning again with the hurt players crap. Colquitt was nowhere near 100% against Lowndes but he don’t wanna say that. Regardless of yards Colquitt was in position to beat Lowndes even after they stole our plays all night. If you wanna talk about yards, Camden held Lowndes to 125 yards with 80 on one possession, talk about domination. I’d love to get another shot at Lowndes, they won’t be up as much his time. The first game against Colquitt was Lowndes Super Bowl bc they wanted revenge for whoopin last year. Y’all are gon be upset when Colquitt is better next year too

To all the Camden fans I would like to apologise for the way Propst acted after we scored the first touchdown. Running out to the hash marks and pumping his fist and pointing you and your team. Clearly you can tell he is not from Moultrie. he embarrassed me and all the fans that grew up in Moultrie watching and respecting all of region 1. However I love the excitement but turn to our kids and to the fans on our side that never stands up or gets excited. Also it was nice to see your coach on the field arguing with the refs. He always looks like a class act because he never has to argue with the refs, your usually winning by 40 so he doesn,t bother to argue. Camden fans last night were a class acted ya’ll will represent region 1 6A very well. Good Game!

Gata, I’m pretty sure he was calling out the ref over there, he done it two other times. I also saw him tell the ref on our side that the ref over there was terrible, which he was. And you won’t hear Camden apologize for taunting Propst all night night with their chanting.

Even If he did, who cares. They were knockin off the #2 team in the country. It may be unnecessary, but no apology is needed. Their fans mocked him all night. Who cares. He was brought here to win games and that’s what he’s doing. Before last night, when was Camden’s last region loss? When was the last time they even lost before the losses we’ve given them. Camden is an absolute monster and Rush desires for our program to be theirs. He respects the crap out of them. I’m still faiy certain he was on the ref, kinda like a in your face for the terrible calls

To me, Camden was in no man’s land last night. Region already sewn up, # 1 seed done deal, region title in hand. Should Herron play conservative, rest some key players and get no none injured. What to do? Players same thing…..game meant nothing in the upcoming playoff picture to Camden. Hats off to Colquitt again this year. I am still trying to figure out what happended last year in Kingsland.
I will pull for my Cats in the upcoming playoffs and also pull for all of region 1AAAAAA.

BK really needs to think about what he is typing before he types…Bragging about how the Valdosta schools beat Colquitt and Camden lost to Colquitt…Colquitt lost to you guys by a total of 5 points…Camden beat you guys by a combined 54 so talk that trash somewhere else…

Settle in for more of the same as the playoffs get underway. This was just the start. Once again, for the second week in a row, 10 top tens lost. This goes to show that there is equality or parity among high school teams in the state of Georgia. As I have stated, they are a number of teams capable of winning this year. I told you all that 6A was wide open. Do not be surprised if your team loses. I won’t. I know we can lose on any given night. All the talk can stop now as everyone starts anew. 0-0, that is the record of all involved. Time for everyone to concentrate on their up-coming game with the utmost urgency. The brackets will no doubt be a source of contention but all is fair. Lovejoy now prepares for the second season and are ready for the push towards December. Congratulations to all those who have earned the right to play on.

O well, just consider the source…….Now the action really begins and good luck (and it does take a little luck) to the ten teams that will make it to December…………it will be a ride….good luck to your boys down there too, ..I also thought they would be 10-0….but crazy things have happened…..

I have mentioned several times in the past about inept officiating that teams ( especially the Cats) encounter when playing Coffee at Douglas. In last night’s game, the refs were all but invisible; the had no effect on the game. They did a good job.

The Coffee fans were hospitable and the stadium is easily accessible, has ample parking, and is a good place to watch a game. My only complaint is that the concession stands had no coffee or hot chocolate. :-( . Can you believe it? Coffee had no coffee! :-)

It is funny to me to read some of these comments! Grayson was roundly condemned for our wins last year over Kell and Brookwood and our loss this year to Parkview. Yet when Camden loses to Colquitt, some write that they were playing not to lose, show only enough to get by, the game didn’t mean anything, etc. I would be willing to bet that the game meant a *lot* to Coach Herron and the team members! The game may not have meant anything in the state but their quest for a national title just bit the dust to say nothing of the most important ranking, in the minds and hearts of the team! I didn’t see the game and can’t comment beyond the score and what has been written so I won’t even pretend to dissect the game or particular calls. It really just emphasizes what we all know but sometimes forget – there are no guaranteed wins!

@WILDHAWG2012 – Attendance is always an issue as there are so many things competing for attention/dollars around here. We just don’t the multi-generational support that many of the south GA teams have. Heck, most of our schools haven’t been open long enough to have multiple generations! :-) The other issue is Grayson, South and Brookwood boundaries all touch with Parkview just on the other side of Brookwood. All 4 schools are withing 10 miles of each other. When you get two games that have the regional impact that those two did, there is competition for attendance. The closest I can come up with is maybe when Valdosta and Lowndes both have home games or maybe the Warner Robin/Houston Co teams are all at home the same time.

Fred – Not to horn in your conversation, but when both Lowndes and Valdosta play at home, our home stands will be near sell-outs, depending on the competition of course. For instance, when we played Brooks County, both Bazemore-Hyder and Martin stadiums were near capacity. That’s with maybe 110,000 population in the area. Even though there may be four 6A schools in close proximity in Gwinnette County, you guys have population of about a zillion. I think your point about multi-generational support is a valid one, however.

@Fred, your right. Based on the way JJ Green, #45, and #40(one heck of a linebacker) dropped their heads and turned and walked off field without shaking hands. They wanted it Bad. JJ never come off the field. They did not take it easy.

@57Cat – Horn right in brother! I am frustrated with the attendance up here big time. Grayson puts a very good team on the field and it makes me crazy not to see the stands full. I know we are generally a late arriving crowd and we do normally have a full stadium by half time but full and packed are two different things. The point I was trying to make was not the Cats or Vikes playing at home but when they are both home at the same time. Now having said that, I don’t know how much the two fan bases will go to the other’s games. I know my wife and I went to several other R8 games on nights when Grayson wasn’t playing.

Looks like we meet in round 2 if both win in 1st round. The winner of that game has a great shot at the finals. Potential matchup with Lassiter in the semis

Fred – I almost went to the Lowndes-Camden game (that prolly doesn’t count, huh?), I even had tickets, but when push came came to shove, I had to go with my Cats to Brunswick. But you are right. We seldom have other games of interest nearby that would draw from our attendance. I’m sure I speak for my Viking friends when I say that if our team is playing, loyalty will just about always win.

We have a local private school, the Valwood Valiants, who are undefeated and in a couple of weeks will probably by playing for the GISA Class AA State Championship here in Valdosta. I have lots of friends with kids in that school. However, if my Cats are successful, on that same night we likely will be travelling to Lassiter for round three of the 6A playoffs. Guess where I’ll be.

Looking at the brackets. And looking ahead. Historically most Cobb County teams disappear early, though Walton did make it to the finals, and it was an all Cobb County semi-final before that. But suppose, just suppose the visiting teams from 1-AAAAAA defeat the home teams in round 1. Colquitt over McEachern, Valdosta over North Cobb. If so, it appears to me, anyway, that both Valdosta and Colquitt would have VERY easy 2nd round games regardless of who they play. Suppose Lowndes defeats Lovejoy in the 2nd round. Camden should be HUGE favorites over both their first two round games. Then, there would be four 1-AAAAAA teams left out of 8.

If so, the rest of Georgia High School football might NEVER hear the end of it! But it looks more possible to me, now that the brackets are set, than ever before.

Congratulations to Colquitt. Our Wildcats made way to many mistakes. I very seldom ever complain about anything but the refs were absolutely terrible. I have never seen refs as bad as they were this past Friday night in Moultrie. The refs actually threw a flag on Propst and picked it up. Regardless of the refs, Colquitt won the game. Maybe this loss will play in the favor of the Wildcats. We will keep our heads up and hope that we get a chance to play Colquitt again in the semi-finals. Best of luck to all teams.

Here’s what’s really interesting about most of the smack talking Colquitt Fans. If you go back through the post on most of the comment sections, nearly all of the Colquitt Fans thought Camden would win the game. Some thought Colquitt would get blown out, they were just hoping the game would be competitive. Now, all of a sudden, everyone knew Colquitt would win, they’re the best team in the state and just like last season, they’re chanting, “who’s Camden County”! Well, hopefully both Camden and Colquitt make it to the semis. Then, your question will be answered! good luck! :-D

I am a bit confused by one thing. In the AAA 1st round, North Hall hosts 6-AAA #4 Cedar Grove. Cedar Grove finished the regular season tied with Woodward Academy with a 4-2 region record and Cedar Grove held the tie breaker over Woodward due to head to head competition. Why is it Woodward took 3rd and not Cedar Grove???
