SG kicks the FG. Unbelievable. Their 2nd FG of the SEASON! I saw him kick before, and would have lost a BUNDLE had I bet. 16-14 SG.

GwinnettDad, you are absolutely right. Hopefully, both teams learn from their mistakes and are 100% focused on the playoffs. I’m not real sure where the Camden kids heads were. It sure didn’t seem like they wanted it. Attitude is a big part as well.

Good game Camden. Just got home from the game and was one of the most intense games i have been to. Our defense came to play. Camden is better than lowndes no doubt but anybody can win on any given night.

Dear Titletown, I hat Camden as much as anyone else, just like football. You wanna feed crow, fine, just add a bit of salt. But i am just sayin that yes they lost 1 game in region 1 but it just showed they could play with the big boys, they did beat your twin titletown teams. Congrats to Colquit for grinding out a great win and congrats to Camden for hanging with region and coming in new to take the region they were not suppose to take according to all past posts. I do want to say I was right about Camden, with all those blowouts early when it came to the 2 toughest games, their 46 pt avg over the first 8 games dwindled down to a mere 18 in the last 2 games. So yes they went undefeated, only lost 1 and packed up the no. 1 seed, and is 2-0 against tinsletown.

Agreed Camden 74….I thought Herron’s plan were a bit off as well, including his decision to wear short pants (which should answer your question about watching the game).

@colquitt fannnn, congrats. Great game. ESPECIALLY with HS football…any given Friday…Rankings, records, mean nothing at this point, thought I think it is tougher on teams that have to travel. I think Colquitt heads to Powder Springs, We both represent Region 1, lets get em!!!!!

Allatoona got handled tonight. Well to me it looked like the toona fans were surrendering before kickoff with all those white flags they were waving. Now let’s see if those toona fans who were doing all that smack talking will be back and show some class towards the UNDEFEATED RAIDERS. Then the clean up of all that smoked toona off the field needs to be done before Clarke Central comes to the “Boneyard” in the first round of the playoffs. Congrats. Raiders on the region 5AAAAA title.

Herron always wears shorts. Kinda weird, but he’s entitled :) About the game, I think his plan was too conservative. I also felt that way during the Lowndes game. What I don’t understand is why play “conservative” and then try some crazy stuff, like that 4th down play deep in your own territory? Makes zero sense to me.

rmbuck..that is complete revisionist history…no one ever said Camden could not hang with R1 or that they would not be able to win this region. It was mostly said that they would not continue to dominate and go undefeated. Some people on here still think they dominated (their right), but the undefeated thing is not up for debate anymore, does it matter? not really.

Yes, they beat both of my teams, but both of these teams beat Colquitt…and the circle of life in Region 1 continues.

rmbuck no one from Region 1 at the beginning of the year thought Camden might not win Region 1 this year. We knew what type of team they had coming in. It is all of the northern folks who always said Camden got a free by in their old region, not us. We always seemed to end up playing them in the playoffs. Some times we won and some times Camden did. In tha past, more years than not, if Camden did lose in the playoffs then it was generally because of Region 1.

What we have said is the days of guaranteed Region titles is over. Camden will always compete for the championship in the region but they will not blow through Region 1 every year.

What you and Camden have now witnessed (and generally happens) is that the region 1 teams have improved substantially from the beginning of the year. It happens because we play each other and make each other better. Having added Camden to the mix only makes us that much improved.

The new Region 1 is ready to take on all comers.

@Titletown, I agree with you. Camden is in a better position for the playoffs by being in Region 1. At least we had some competition that tested the kids a bit. Its all good going forward. Interesting that Camden beats Lowndes and Valdosta then loses to Colquitt, yet Colquitt loses to Lowndes and Valdosta. LOL..it makes my head hurt. ON a sad note, I feel bad for Tift Co. and Brunswick. I still think that if Brunswick’s QB had an offensive line (even Camden’s 8th graders) they would be significantly better. He is really a very good QB.

Who likes Colquitt over McEachern? We are looking at Cobb County vs. Region 1. If Hillgrove plays Camden, could there be any chance for Hillgrove repeating what they did two years ago?

Camden1902, I think you are correct. I think Camden should have passed a little more than they did, it was open for them.

I think I am correct when I say the playoffs are really open this year. There are about 8-10 teams that can win it. Some may be stronger than other teams, but it going to come down which team can make the fewest mistakes and takes advantage of the breaks they get. I would not be surprised if two lower seeds make the finals. This will be a fun playoff year.

GwinnettDad, I think Colquitt is the better team but I am concerned about a let down for them. 16-18 year olds are unpredictable in situations like that. They could play lights out, or they could be very flat.

So let’s see.

Colquitt beat Camden.
North Gwinnett beat Colquitt.
Norcross beat North.

I guess you have to put Norcross as #1 in the state. Lassiter is unproven outside of their own region

Unless you realize that Camden is still the best team in the state and simply ran into the Colquitt buzzsaw at the end of the season.

Rankings really do not matter at this point, only playoff seedings. Even a blind pig finds an aorn sometimes, and even South Gwinnett can kick a field goal. We will find out who is really the best in Georgia’s November madness. Let the games begin. Good luck everyone.

You brought up a good point. Colquitt defeats Camden!! Both Titletown squads beats Colquitt!! Valdosta hung 38 on Colquitt, but Camden put up 46 on Valdosta!! And Camden could only hang 12 on Colquitt?? And Camden defeated Lowndes, who defeated Colquitt!! That’s why you never judge what this squad did against that squad!! It’s all about MATCHUPS!! That’s. Why. You. Play. The. Game.

Propst really surprises me sometimes with his play selection at critical times. Now, everybody already knows he is a “Spurrier-type idiot”, but that’s beside the point. I would imagine even some of his best friends think he is an “idiot” sometimes. All the people in Moultrie that I know think he is, but he wins games when it counts. That’s the only reason they keep him. Anyway, when he went for a two point conversion at a crucial time against Valdosta, he ran a pass play that failed, after just having ran the ball all over the Cat’s defense enroute to a TD. They were dog-tired. The QB could have almost walked in from the 2 yd line, especially on a rollout play action call ! That was huge! Then, tonite on that 2 pt. conversion try after they went ahead 13-12 he does it again. Goes for a flare-out type pass attempt. Cole Seagraves had been running through the middle of Camden’s line all night. Even the RB had just scored from 3 yds. out with those 2 heavy duty blockers in there and made it look easy. That was almost extremely critical. Would have been only a tie game if their kicker had made that FG, and it was close. Things like this are just mind-boggling. These are supposed to be the experts!
