Mays played a good game tonight. But again. Like i’ve been saying ALLLLLL year; WE NEED A COACH!!!! You would not beleive the DUMB stuff that this guy has been doing all year. From not taking time outs at the rite time, to running the wrong plays at the wrong time. They had Tucker beat. They had Stphenson beat. They had Carver Beat. This guy has had teams the last 4 years that could have taken it all the way… Butwith no leadership and bad coaching….. Oh well!! But I hear that e will be stacked next year and for at lease the next 4 years. Now if we could only get some COACHING!!!!

ALTHOUGH tonight was a very disappointing win which could have easily been avoided had we started our starters in the game, yet my MLK LIONS prove to go another yr of 10-0 in the regular season proving themselves superior on the 6-5A schedule.. NOW here comes the championship!! How many teams you know that can go 10-0 on a schedule like ours?? Not too many and wont be happening ..NOT UNLESS the team is MLK!! HATS OF TO YOU FELLAS!! Now its tyme to put in more more work to advance farther into the play-offs!!

@mayshighdad. This was a very good Mays team that hasn’t lost any game this year by mote than 7 points. This region just had so many other good teams that many people believed all year that at least 2 playoff caliber teams would not make playoffs. And the Mays quarterback had a great season and was the main reason along with defense why Mays did have a chance to win really every game they played this year. I think they may have lacked a little more depth as a team than a few of the others.

OAN:

I heard that the AD over at MLK who is the Region 6 Chairman didn’t set a “tie-breaker” scenario. If two or more teams where tied in the region at the end of the season it would come down to a coin flip.

So, right now Tucker and Stephenson are tied at 7-2 in the region. Even though SHS won head to head, it still would have come to a coin flip.

There was an emergency meeting held with the coaches and they all agreed to the points system.

Really???

@Jab you must have left the game when Mays played Stephenson. Your team won nothing needs to be said. We saw the game and you were left off the hook. Missed extra point really. One first down second half, trick play to score. You are so right Jab your team is amazing along with all of the other Dekalb teams. I will say MLK was the best team we played this year. I will be at the playoff games as well and will love to meet you JAB…I would have loved for you to bring that to the SWATS…They love fans like you. Good Luck in the playoffs. I am rooting for our region. 5-5 is unacceptable at Mays and we will get it together and I don”t believe in calling out kids are coaches. WE LOST AND WON TOGETHER…When things do not go the way you want close ranks and not start bad mouthing our own..That accomplishes NOTHING…

First – I thought I would ever agree with JAB, “How disappointed he was with his Jags”, I felt the same with my Tigers. Last night’s game against Mays was the worst demonstration in lack of discipline and focus from a Tucker team that I have ever witness and I have seen over 15 years of Tiger football. The number of legal procedure and off sides penalties is just plain unacceptable. There are penalties issued in all football games, but these two – the number of, will get you an early exit from the playoffs … this must be corrected (Coach). I will take the WIN, but at this time in the season, championship teams are running on all cylinders. In all honesty, if Tucker had played their traditional Tiger football, Mays would have been done at the half

Now on to more positive points:

Much respect to ALL our 5A region 6 teams for a season of fan cheering, fan disappointments and fan nail biting Friday Nights. The regular season did not disappoint the fans and live up to all the pre season hype in every way HS football could. Hallford, Adams, Panthersville, Lakewood was the venue for some of GA HS football elite athletes. The coming years will be a HS football fan dream … I’ve already applied for my life membership card. (LOL)

Congratulation to the 4 PROGRAMS representing the region toward the march to the dome, #1 MLK, #2 Stephenson, #3 Tucker, #4 SWD. It’s time to show the rest of 5A, why we are … who we are … SIMPLY THE BEST!

5A Fans – It’s time to for you to be entertain by the big bad jungle CATS:

LIONS … JAGUARS … TIGERS … PANTERS, it’s time to ROAH!!!!

Oh, I said all season long the teams that will be representing region 6 in the2012 5A championship run.

@5AReg6Fan

I to was concerned about the “false start penalties” that pleaged the first half, so I asked a coach what was going on after the game.

Turns out that Mays DE’s were calling the Tucker “cadence” after the back went in motion. Which is ilegal on all levels of football, and they were not flagged until the second-half. If you remember the second drive of the 3rd qtr. everyone thought it was another false start penalty until the ball went the other way for five yards. The refs. woulndn’t call so Mays kept doing it.

This is an example of what was going on…

Tucker would get set at the line of scrimage and send their back into motion, then the DE opposite the TE would call “hike” Since the TE isn’t looking at the ball he fires off.

It you noticed all the false statrs were on the TE’s. No matter which one was in the game kept jumping.

The Refs. were notifed but said they couldn’t tell who was calling hike. Common sense would tell you if it keeps happing and the ball never moves, maybe it’s not the QB.

I ‘m kinda gald we are on the road for the playoffs, officiating in Dekalb has been ATROCIOUS this year.

Congrats! to the teams that made it in out of region 6 they should do well. The Mays game was good I have seen all the post and it’s a shame how a lot of people do not understand football. Tucker was clearly out played last night but got a break it happens at all levels. Mays defense stopped Tucker all night and Tucker had no answer that is fact. Mays had some bad breaks this year in a tough region and the result is they are out. SWD has the bad draw of the playoffs and well most likely lose all the rest should make it out. I hope everyone has a great post season!

It’s interesting that nothing is being said about Harris County High School. After an 0-4 start to the season, the Tigers reeled off 6-straight wins to finish the Region 1-AAAAA schedule a perfect 5-0 with a Region Title clinching win over #4 ranked Thomas County Central in the Jackets Nest Friday night 18-12. This is the FIRST ever REGION championship for Harris County High School in football and they will host their FIRST EVER home playoff game next Friday night against a yet to be determined opponent. Hats off to Coach Tommy Parks and his Tiger’s team and coaches for a job well done.

Need to stop calling this the “AAAAA roundup” if all the teams are not going to be included. Call it the North GA 5A roundup. The top team who will win it all is not even mentioned, and they blasted Evans of Augusta. I refer to Northside/Warner Robins. Even WR won their game with another team from Augusta and are in the playoffs. Include the state as a whole or just forget it. The scores are available.

The reason I explained for the false starts was the ONLY reason Mays hung around. They did not out play Tucker. One lucky pass play. the rest of the night Mays RB and QB had to run for thier lives. No doubt that Mays is a good team and should have won more games. But they did not out play Tucker.

@Tiger4Life Tucker never threatened Mays while on Offense and Tucker clearly isn’t the same team as when Coach Franklin was there. Yes the Dekalb Co. teams are in the Playoffs but Tucker was not very good last night or all season when it came to the so called big teams. Tucker lost to MLK and Stephenson whom Mays played very closed and the games came down to the wire to both teams. Congrats! to Tucker and the rest of the teams from what I saw last night Tucker has a lot of work to do on Offense or if they advance they will run into another good Defense like Mays and it might not go their way. Tuckers Offense last night 7 1st half shut out there are the facts.

Make the call Tucker is really having a rebuilding year but we make it look more like reloading. Most of our kids are Soph and Juniors. When u win a championship in high school a team usually lose a lot of Seniors. Come on we can’t win it every year even tho we damn sure come close! We will see how we fair in the playoffs this year. If nobody knocks off NSWR is gonna be hard for anyone.

@Make the Call

This will be tha last time I address this, because we will be focusing on Creekview.

THE ONLY REASON MAYS STOPPED TUCKER WAS BECAUSE OF THE CADENSE CALLS BY THEIR DE’S. THE REFS. WOULD NOT CALL THE PENALTY ON MAYS BECAUSE THEY CLAIM THEY COULND’T TELL WHO WAS CALLING HIKE. EVEN THOUGH THE COACHES COMPLAINED AND THEY KNEW WHAT TO LOOK FOR AND THE BALL NEVER SNAPPED.

But Believe what you want to, people said the same thing last year and TUCKER came home with the crown.

I’m not downing Mays because they did catch some tough breaks and could have very well in the playoffs this year.

@ KING IS HERE, Yes! They did it against Stephenson at the beginning of the game Friday night! Stephenson Band was on the field too long after the clock had expired twice in the beginning of the game, at their senior night festivities. Also, a ref. can give the band a warning to stop playing and penalize the football team if it continues…
