i love my tigers but i keep it real we wont get far until we get someone that can call plays on what the defense gives our oc is the worse i have seen and we have got to work on the pass defense if we wont to make another run there is alot of talent but need the right people to lead them and i must say if we still had coach stephens we would be 10-0 just my opinion he knew how to manage the game and had the kids playing at a high level

I think they need to make an exception to that rule for black school bands because those kids work just as hard as the football teams (eventhough they are annoying sometimes)! If the coaches are not complaining, let em play. I know Buck Godfrey tells his players to learn to play when the band is playing; everybody knows that SWD band has a repetation for being the best band in the land, don’t get mad JAGS., it’s true… “BUT STEPHENSON BAND DIRECTOR’S WHEN THE GAME IS CLOSE SLOW YOUR ROLL”

RealisticFan,
You are right sir, The Gladiators will be rolling into town next Friday looking to do exactly what East did to them 2 years ago. Only difference is Clarke Central is 5-5 this year, But Coach Ryals will have his team ready when they arrive at the Boneyard and make no mistake about it folks, Clarke Central can beat East if the Raiders do not play their game.
As for possibly playing Stephenson in the second round, well knock on wood but EP has only lost to one region 6 team in the playoffs and that was in 2006 to a very good Marist team in the Semifinals in the Dome.. Last year’s SW Dekalb team had a tough defense but their offense was non existent. Stephenson could possibly be the other way around, they will have a talented team. Yes, Stephenson has knocked off some pretty good opponents over the years. So they will not be affected by the Raiders Mystique if and when they pay a visit to the Boneyard as well. You can pretty much count on them to having as much or more speed than any team EP has faced from Region 6. Should be a pretty good matchup between the two if both teams are able to advance.

Then come Stephenson who has been to the quarter’s and semi’s before. Then Tucker are the new consistent winners in Dekalb with 2 championships and now you have MLK who has been to the quarter’s and semi’s since they opened in early 2000’s. I say all this to say Dekalb has had great programs in the last 3 decades. Kell will get a good introduction to Dekalb football on friday with the ole panthers of SWD clawing all over the Longhorns. @ RealisticFan, Stephenson has beaten Ware County twice in their backyard while they were ranked in the top 10. Truely if you line AAAAAA such as Camden County, Grayson, Colquit, Brookwood, Valdosta, McEarchern, etc. and play against AAAAA, I think the only teams that maybe able to play with them besides Stephenson, MLK & Tucker would be TCC, NSWR, and maybe Gainesville. That’s the kind of competition that Stephenson & MLK are accustomed to playing…

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, you Region 6 folks are freakin Joke. As I said before, Stephenson doesn’t want any of The Beast from The East. EP has lost just 1 game to a Region 6 team since 2006, and that was to a very good Marist team in the Semifinals in the Dome. Ep has went on taken it too Mays and Southwest Dekalb in the other playoffs games, heck even Milton was in 6-5A the year EP was in 5A and EP beat them that year as well. The teams that come from Region 6 just don’t have any discipline at all. Yes most of the teams have plenty of speed. But it always seems that the kids aren’t very coachable or they haven’t been coached very well. Stephenson, if you survive your date with Pope, be prepared to head North to the Boneyard and as CANNON always says. Your Clock will begin after Friday night. But First, East has to take care of Business this coming Friday as Clarke Central is gonna come into town and try and Upset The Raiders, much like East did to them in 2010. Coach Ryals will have the Gladiators ready no doubt, So please do not take them lightly even though they are 5-5 for the year. I’ve seen them play once this year and they didn’t look too bad, seemed pretty fast. They can run the ball and it seems like their Qb can get it done on the ground as well. Hope all you Clarke Central Fans have a safe Trip to Dallas, nothing like the Athens area but a great atmosphere for football on Friday nights.

It’s funny to hear (read) you grown men doing all that trash talking. Something has to fill the time before the next fri. Reg 6 is decent, however every team the made the playoff are very, very very susceptible to the pass. Stephenson`s offense is very perdictable, they have some talent but it’s not being used properly. MLK has the most balance, yet they have short coming, Tucker has good backs, but lack imagination on offense, SWD off tackle left, off tackle right (same as Jags) except the Jags can pass just a little better and I do mean just a little. Theey all can be beat, but thy all could win also.
I’m curious about the,” they have speed but or uncoachable” comment.
Also LongHorn, Stephenson did not drop down they simply stayed in the right classification, So what’s your teams reason for not playing up in AAAAAA, I’ ll wait.
Stephenson will not win it this year, there is simply not enough creatitivity on offense, (and not enough studs to make up for the lack of creativity) and defense is very suspect.
MLK does have a legitimate shot, if they get a few breaks. Tucker has the players but not the imagination.
Good Luck to all’

I’ve seen you 3 times. You guys have a serious problem covering. Offensively your horrible, you just run the ball striaght up the middle twice throw a Hial Mary then punt, with limited blocking I might add. You will have real trouble with Pope (who is not that good). Hey JAB, didn`t you leave the game against N. Atl, because your team was flat as you say. Jab it wasnt flat, they are not very good. 1st round exit again, but your young, and a bunch of guys will fake colleges out again (scholarships) right. good luck next year, that will be your year, right.

Stephenson defense is a joke is what I read, have you seen # 5 Payne he is a beast. You won’t get pass him. I have read all of the comments that’s on this blog and everyone has a right to voice their opinions, because you love the schools you represent. However, I think it’s not fair to question these youngmen’s abilities, because they are the one’s playing and you are not. They give their hearts and soul for you to come out to see them play. So let’s be mindful of that when we are making comments that would suggest that these players aren’t as good as you would like them to be. I wish all regions the best of luck in the playoffs. I’m definitely a Stephenson fan and would like to see them win state, just in case that doesn’t happen, I will be pulling for MLK, Tucker and SWD to win state. JAG NATION

@Reg6 fans
Check out the EP/Allatoona game on Comcast on demand and you can see for yourself how small and slow both teams are. Small lines that depend on angle blocking and backs that are just so so..
The EP team reminds me a lot of the 2010 Stars Mill team that knocked off Tucker on the way to the finals. Allatoona is a very very good football team and they could only muster 50 yds on the ground against East P, and that is one week after putting up 460 yards rushing the previous week against another playoff team in North P. Makes you kinda go hmmmmm. For the record I consider what playoff teams do against in their own region against each other one of the better indicators of playoff potential. East out beat #2 seed Allatona 25-7 and out gained them 401-180, East beat #3 seed Rome 52-6, outgaining them 430+ to under 120, and East beat #4 seed North P 38-17 , outgaining. Them 460-181. (Yardage Numbers are approx. based on other publications, Marietta Daily Journal, Rome paper, etc)
Overall it is a combined 115-30 on the scoreboard and near 1300 yards to around under 500 in the three games against the other region qualifiers. I know the pundits will say, stats mean nothing and the quality of the other teams is bad. I just know that East’s small slow team has done ok so far. (And for those that don’t know…when I small and slow it is merely a tongue in cheek reference to an earlier Reg6 poster, who obviously has know idea how big the East lines are or how much speed there is at the skill positions).
