Looks like 12 games this week are winner-take-all region championships. Some are by design, and others just happen to be the 10th game on the schedule. Here they are:
Class AAAAA
1 – Thomas Central-Harris County
3 – Ware County-Effingham County
5 – Allatoona-East Paulding
8 – Flowery Branch-Gainesville
Class AAAA
3 – Burke County-Wayne County
6 – Marist-Carver
7 – Ridgeland-River Ridge
Class AAA
8 – Hart County-North Oconee
Class AA
5 – Bowdon-Heard County
6 – GAC-Lovett
Class A
3 – ECI-Savannah Christian
5 – ELCA-Landmark Christian winner
Here is our schedule of the region play-in games.
Meanwhile, there are five new teams in the rankings this week.
They are Ware County and Flowery Branch for Gainesville and Stephenson in AAAAA, Westside-Macon and Carver-Atlanta for Carrollton and Statesboro in AAAA and North Hall for Woodward Academy in AAA.
Why did Gainesville fall out, and Warner Robins didn’t? First, I have no idea how Loganville beat Gainesville. Has there been a more surprising upset. That’s the answer to the question. WR lost to the #1-ranked team by one TD.
Why did Stephenson fall out despite winning? Despite the victory over Tucker, not sure the Jags are playing like a Top 10 team in losing to Miller Grove (6-3) and beating Mays (5-4) by a point.
Why is Wilkinson and Irwin still ranked at 6-3 and Walker (9-0) unranked. Wilco and Irwin lost close games to ranked teams, and their schedules rank 3-4 in Class A. Hate not ranking a 9-0 team, but I suspect unranked Aquinas and Landmark Christian will do better in postseason than Walker. We’ll see. Unfortunately, we won’t get to see how Walker and other private schools do against publics like Wilkinson County this season in the playoffs.
I’ll return later to add ‘How They Fared’ game summaries and notes for all the ranked teams.

TICK…TICK…TICK…BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
OK ALLATOONA that’s the sound of the COUNTDOWN CLOCK…it’s officially ON & RUNNING!!!
This Friday Nov. 9th in “THE BONEYARD” UNDEFEATED EAST PAULDING 9 / 0 vs. UNDEFEATED ALLATOONA 9 / 0 for the REGION 5 AAAAA CHAMPIONSHIP and the # 1 SEED in the Playoffs!!!
A few interesting Stats to compare…
ALLATOONA has scored 338 / 116 1 OT game and 1 Shutout win…Avg. = 37.5 / 12.8 per game!
EAST PAULDING has scored 400 / 83 4 Shutout wins…Avg. 44.4 / 9.2 per game!
I’m not a real big fan of comparing stats but what makes this interesting is both teams have played the identical opponents so it is a fair comparison.
Several of us went to the NORTH PAULDING / ALLATOONA game last night and it was a good game to watch. It was closer than the score seems late in the 2nd quarter as it was 21 / 7 with NORTH on the goal line with 4 seconds left but no time outs. They chose to run up the middle and would have scored but ALLATOONA stopped the QB at the goal line…a footnote here refs missed a blatant facemask on the QB and NORTH should have got another play but the clock ran out and it was 21 / 7 at the half. That seemed to take the steam out of NORTH and the 2nd half was all ALLATOONA. Congrats to ALLATOONA for a real good 9 / 0 season to date!
So ALLATOONA went to overtime against HIRAM winning 20 / 17…Beat PAULDING COUNTY 36 / 0…went to SOUTH PAULDING and won 28 / 14…then went to NORTH PAULDING last night and won 56 / 21…
This week in “THE BONEYARD” you will find out it’s just different when you come EAST!!!
Love that “chant” your stands were doing whenever the “D” stopped NORTH’s offense…How did that go…”OH NO YOU DON’T, YOU CAN’T DO THAT”…cute…How bout you guys help us out this Friday with a slight revision to it…As the CANNON fires after each EAST TD and thru the smoke you see the scoreboard, how bout…
“OH YES THEY CAN…HOW’D THEY DO THAT???”…
TICK…TICK…TICK…BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
GO RAIDERS!!!

Todd I do appreciate what you give us …. any and all high school coverage is appreciated, but for ONE person to come up with HIS own polls? This is the AJC right …. the great newspaper of the South? …. and they have ONE person doing the Top 10? …. Just change it to TODD”S TOP 10 !! This is embarrasing to the AJC.
YOUR Class A poll is a joke and you can SEE you didn’t put any thought process to it at all. I’ll just move #8 & #9 down one spot and move #10 to #8. I see all kind of HOLES in the Class A Top 10!

Gridiron – Are you serious? “Peach Co. Coach intended to lose this game to get the easy and better side of the playoff bracket.” PEACH CO. INTENDED TO LOSE AT HOME AND NOT TO BE THE REGION CHAMPS AND ALLOW CARVER-COLUMBUS TO BE THE NO. 1 TEAM IN THE REGION? ARE YOU REALLY LISTENING TO YOURSELF?
Do you realize that Peach Co. will be in same bracket with Buford? Look for a Carver-Columbus vs. Buford/Peach County winner for the AAA championship. Carver-Columbus is back Region AAA

Find it interesting that the NFL Bucs and Raiders are playing today. I expect Fridays game to be more intence at the Bone Yard. To the ‘toona fans, tell your team not to practice kickoff returns. You’ll be starting from the 20 all night long. If you need directions just listen for the cannon. 121 1/2 hours til kickoff…but who’s counting.

I agree with your assessment. I believe the entire attitude of Grayson’s team changed after the Parkview game. As my old college coach used to say “they got too much crap in their necks”. The intensity just was not there up to that loss imo. They have been dominate since and if South can help us out this week and Grayson takes care of their business, the possibility of a Grayson/Camden final could come to fruition. That being said, there is alot of football yet to be played.

I think Lovejoy should be ranked ahead of Grayson. After all Lovejoy has won 9 games in a row and destroyed every one they have played since their loss to Colquit. Plus they pass the ball and that alone has to make them a better team. If you don’t believe me just ask sportsnut and Unimpressed.
Man didn’t you enjoy that good S.Ga type of game between Alabama and LSU? Defense baby. Low scoring defense. That’s why they win championships at Alabama and LSU. Of course we all know that when and if Georgia meets Alabama in the SEC championship Ga. will dominate because they pass the ball more. Yup! Got to give it to all of those championship passing teams of the past and in the future.
Fact is I think the SEC should just go ahead and crown Oregon Nat. Champs because they are the ultimate in passing teams. Nobody else stands a chance.

Dad, I don’t think anybody in Suwanee cares who wins Region 8 AAAAAA.
Parkview would be fun. since North and Parkview have not faced each other in years. But North and Grayson have some unfinished business also. I can assure you that the Grayson defense cannot hold North scoreless.
North has been flying under the radar this year, and they are happy to do so. They are especially happy to be in the bracket assigned to them no matter who all of the opponents will be. The North offense has come together and they can score on any team.
There is plenty of great football to be played before anyone gets to that point. I personally expect that Collins Hill may surprise some teams in their bracket. Enjoy these late season games. Good luck and safe games to all partcipants.

Good point about the Oregonads, yo. The Ducks have invented a new kind of football and it is very intresting to watch. Georgia made the mistake of putting Boise State on their schedule one year and pretty much ruined their season.
It is much better to put teams like Western Kentucky, or Buffalo, or Florida Atlantic, or a blind Girls School on the schedule as nonconference games to display the relative strength of the SEC team. I don’t see anyone in the SEC in a big rush to put Oregon on their schedule. Until they play the games, we really do not know how it might come out.

@Dougmo2
Anything constructive to say? So why do you think Allatoona is going to smack East around? Have you seen both play ? They are very very similar teams. Both run the I and pound the ball off. Here is my position grades.
RB- EVEN, both have two really good ones
OL – EVEN, both big strong w/experience
WR -EP, slight speed edge.
DL – EP, east appears quicker
LB – EVEN, both are aggressive and fill well
DB – Allatoona, both suspect against pass
Punting- Allatoona
Punt Coverage- EP
Kicking – EP, slight
Coaching , EVEN
Here’s the big difference:
QB: EAST By a big margin. Allatoona QB is mostly serviceable but lacks arm strength and becomes rattled when pressured.
LASTLY: As big a rivalry there is between East and Northvi was surprised to hear first hand from North players how dirty they felt Allatoona played. How much trash they talked and how much more disciplined that East was then Allatoona. Would not have thought so but North came away shocked about the lack of sportsmanship from the Allatoona team.
Overall both are Senior laden teams with a lot of talent. Should be a great game and one that will be ultimately be won in the trenches. I think the home field advantage propellant East to an easier then expected 38-17 win.

Dostacat1 — I think colquitt is listed at the 10th spot insteas of Valdosta because they have defeated Coffee and yall haven’t done that yet. (YET!) But don’t sweat it, Valdosta will be our fregionj’s 3rd seeded team and Colquitt 4th, if the Cats do as most of us think they will do, and thats beat Coffee Friday.
Propst could throw a monkey wrench into that scenario though, if he can coach his Packers over a possibly still celebrating Camden team. That would give Colquitt 3rd seed and the winner of the Valdosta vs Coffee game 4th seed.
Win or lose this Friday and Camden has the 1st seed locked and Lowndes is locked at the 2nd seed.
@YO – I agree with your logic ranking Lovejoy higher than Grayson and NG (maybe they should also be ahead of Lasseter and the Cross too) because they have more people posting on the blogs. Yo, of course we really do not know about a game between Alabama and Oregon because they do not play. And I suspect Saban would rather play almost any team xcept the Ducks. I doubt we will see that game, but it would probably be very interesting football. From a fan’s perspective it is more fun to watch Coach Heron get tested as they were when they played Miami Central in 2010 than to watch a low scoring game such as Camden v Lowndes.
But let’s go ahead and speculate a bit. The Ducks score on most of their possessions. So a ball control offense usually works in football, but in this sort of a game, there better be a score at the end of most possessions, or the Ducks would win. It might be a bit like trying to play a 4 corners offense in basketball against the US Olympic team. OK maybe that would keep the score closer and give the opposing team a chance, but at the end of the day, the slow down team had better score on most possessions.
I really do not know how the game might come out, but it would be interesting and fun to watch. Saban would probably be tested and have to pull out the entire play book in a game like that. Regardless of which team wins, the fans would win. Too bad that game is so unlikely to happen.
The Camden game against Colquitt may be both interesting and revealing. But, I think Camden is simply a better team, and Colquitt is far from the best spread team in the state. Coach Heron will do as much as he needs to in order to win that game, and I do not think it will be a serious test for the Wildcats.

If South Gwinnett can defeat Parkview, Norcross should be ecstatic, and for that matter, Camden should be too. Otherwise, Grayson is the #2 seed after they defeat Brookwood, and that upper right bracket is stacked. The Grayson would play Norcross in round 2. The winner plays Camden in the quarters. Norcross playing Grayson in round 2 is a comparable early collision comparable to when Lowndes would collide with Camden early on before realignment.

@Just Rammin – Grayson played Thursday and won 48-0. Haven’t given up a TD in four games, I think. Brookwood lost to South Gwinnett 42-38 Friday night in a game in which neither team had much of a defense. As I was walking out, who did I see in the Brookwood stands? There were 8 games before theirs against N.P. and not a word until they beat N.P. Now they think their all that and a bag of chips. Do you think they’ll still be here after E.P. takes care of buisness this fri. night? One of their posters was saying he/she was tired of hearing all of our noise, well that’s nothing compared to the noise they’ll be hearing at the “Boneyard” this fri. i.e. lots of cannon fire. Your computer rating is much higher than mine, I must admit. Don’t remind me of Dublin (or Dalton) again, though.
Kudos. I didn’t think so. Neither did one poster on Sept. 17, who scolded us for ranking Carver after losing to Colquitt County 33-0. We feel vindicated. He wrote: ‘’if you’re a quality program(76-10) over the past couple seasons n score zero points,,,,you shouldnt still be ranked higher than a undefeated team….carver isnt as good as ppl thought…pack showed you that fri. night,,,but 2 still be ranked so high(carver) is mindboggling.’’

This is the AJC right …. the great newspaper of the South? …. and they have ONE person doing the Top 10? …. Just change it to TODD”S TOP 10 !! This is embarrasing to the AJC.’’
The AJC has done the rankings this way since 1952. That’s 60 years of embarrassment. Glad to be part of the tradition. But I wouldn’t say it’s just me. There are several AJC writers who offer their input, and several great bloggers on Poll Talk who shame me into getting it right.
‘’ How about just a little love for 9-0 Walker. I know the schedule may not be the toughest, but only the Wolverines and Athens Academy have done what no other Class A team has — beat everyone in front of them.’’
Hard to argue w/ that.
‘’ How can Tucker still be in the rankings and not Stephenson, after they lost to MLK & Stephenson, sounds like somebody playing the political game…’’
Tucker and Stephenson have the same record against common opponents, so head-to-head doesn’t mean much there. Tucker has played better overall, IMO. Tucker is a few plays from being 9-0. Stephenson is a few plays from being 4-4
‘’ How can you rank Colquitt Co at number 10 over Valdosta? They both have the same record and Valdosta beat them head to head. Makes one wonder….hmmmmm??’’
That was explained in great detail last week. Colquitt has played better overall, IMO. All losses are by 7 points or less. Valdosta lost to Brooks County. Colquitt beat Carver-Columbus 33-0. Colquitt also beat Thomas Central and Lovejoy. Colquitt has played the toughest schedule in the state.

”How is it that Burke Co. Beat Wayne Co. Earlier but have to travel to Wayne Co. To play for the region”
Good question. The Region 3-AAAA setup is that one subregion hosts all the play-in games this year, while the other subregion hosts them next season. The coaches agreed to this ahead of time. The reason is that it ensures that every team will play one home game and one away game in Game #10 over this two-year cycle. Guaranteeing this one home game (and the money it generates to finance the athletics department) was deemed more important than the risk of putting a subregion champ on the road. I wouldn’t worry about it, though. Burke will roll.

Mays is 5-4 – losses to Carver, MLK, SWD, Stephenson. …
That’s a tough call w/ Stephenson. Does Region 6 have three of the best 10 teams in AAAAA? Maybe so. Stephenson is borderline, IM0. Stephenson lost to Miller Grove, which then lost to SWD. I guess what we’ll find out in the playoffs is whether Region 6 is really deep w/ MG, SWD and Mays, or whether Tucker, MLK and Stephenson aren’t as good as we assumed.

Yo, really, you think that Lovejoy should be ranked higher. Really. 37-56 is the win loss record of your opponents. Alpharetta and Colquitt are the only winning teams you guys have played, and you are 1-1 in those games. There is only 1 team in your region with a winning record, and that is Lovejoy. Yes it is true that Lovejoy has beat every team in a weak region down, sounds familiar? Remember Camden County in region 3? Looks like region 2 is the new region 3 to me. Have no doubt that Lovejoy may compete come playoff time, as for now I would not be too vocal about being ranked higher with that region schedule they play. I did not include the win that you Lovejoy will get on friday against Alcovy a 4-5 team, so add a win and loss and the results are still the same. OK I hear your argument, but they were all 6-A schools. Yeah, but Colquitt was the only power school, the rest leave something to be desired.

Don’t sell Colquit County short, they are going to play Camden county a good game. Lowndes were without two of their best players that really could have made a difference. Coaching was also a factor in Camdens win over lowndes, the punt returner(Lowndes) should not have tried to field those punt. The score realistical should have been 17-7. Cmaden. On paper, the game seems just about even. If I had to give the edge to either team it would be East based purely on their QB play. He’s a playmaker and will beat you throwing it or running it, and isn’t affraid to lay a lick either. For either team to win this game, they are gonna have to win the fight up front. Been looking forward to this game all year, now that its here let the fun begin. As for you Toona fans, I sure hope you all are loud. Because it gets pretty dang loud in the bone yard, due to cowbells ringing and fans screaming and yelling. So just bring ya some ear plugs incase your hearing is a bit sensitive to noise.

@ I don’t agree with you Todd, Stephenson is not a couple of plays from being 4-4 and Tucker 9-0 when Stephenson played Tucker, they shut their high powered offense down and Tucker never had the lead, when Tucker played MLK, MLK could have widen the score in the 4th quarter (MLK was driving inside the Tucker 2o yrd. line) but after the Tucker player got hurt. MLK went easy on them. Stephenson has a very young secondary and that’s their only weakness, there Offense is very competitive and not one dimensional. @ like you said we will see in the playoffs; I believe that region 6AAAAA is very competitive this year, they 7 good teams that could beat anybody on a good day. Miller Grove is not a push over- NOTE: Stephenson beat SWD 35-0 but SWD beat Miller Grover 17-9 figure that…

@RealisticFan – Your math doesn’t work for the EP W/L over the past two years. If you lost in the quarters, you would have to be 24-2 assuming undefeated seasons. 20-2 would mean you lost in the first round. I don’t think you lost in the first round.

@sportsnut, Why do you hate Camden so much? All are kids do is play the game the right way, look to improve week by week and win Championships. We take on ANY and EVERYBODY and run from NO ONE. For the last 10 years all I continue to hear from fans like you is that Camden is soft, OVER-RATED, and Unimpressive. Well, I guess thats why you are just a fan and not a coach. Great Coaches from different across the state continue to recognize the great program that Coach Herron has built so I respect their opinion because they really know. So just chill, let the kids play. If your team is good enough then maybe they will see the Cats in the playoffs. Good Luck to you and your team. STOP HATING!!!!!!!!

The Allatoona punter was a bit stronger and East seems like protection of the punter is at times dhakey. In reality the only bigest difference in the kicking games is on punt returns where Alltoona looked as though you might be able to pop one on them. Both kickers put kickoff s in the end zone with regularity. Have not witnessed Toona try a FG but he was hitting about. 50 pct in practice from 55 yds and that was with roughly 12-15 tries.

Everywhere I go you posting some foolishness.
First when the Tucker player got hurt it was on kickoff. How was anybody driving the ball 0_o
Secondly, if Tucker QB dont run the wrong play when he fumbled on the 1. The game is tied 17-17 and and its anybodys game. He opened up the wrong way, giving the ball to MLK on the 3 yard line.
At the end of the Stephenson game Tucker had a chance to tie the game on their last drive. And anything could have happened if they scored.
Stephenson lost to a good Miller Grove team, and got dragged up and down the the field by MLK. You guys couldn’t stop Mays in the second half and without the fake punt you guys lose. And don’t forget Arabia Mtn had you guys on the ropes until the final minutes!

@Camden74 – if Camden wants to make the biggest splash, or for that matter anybody else, they should want to play the best team in the finals and beat them. Not in the second or third round. Heard so much complaining last year when Camden had to play Lowndes in the 2nd round. I understand that completely. But doesn’t that apply in the north two, when the best the north might have to offer might collide just as Lowndes and Camden did last year?

For anyone doubting that Camden isn’t for real they just needed to attend the game last Friday night. I’m from FL but grew up in Georgia and follow all the classifications. On my way to the GA/Miss game I stopped in Valdosta and watched the Camden/Lowndes game. The only reason Lowndes scored was 2 stupid personal fouls on Camden during the opening drive. After that it was a great game but Camden’s defense is a beast. For those that think Colquitt will pull the upset, I think Camden will remember who knocked them out of the playoffs last year. Camden wasn’t forced to throw the ball much, but Ramsey is the real deal. If he played on a pass happy team he’d be putting up crazy numbers. I talked to the ESPN announcers at halftime and they said the atmosphere was better than any game they’d done all year in the United States by far. The stadium was packed and neither side sat during the whole game.

Who then is the best team? Is it Lovejoy who lost to Colquitt, who also beat TCC. but lost to three strong region foes including Camden. Who do you really think is right now the best team in Georgia, Not the team with the most potential, toughest defense, most team speed , best cusching, etc…… But the best team right now. And how about a why expressing it without a bunch of historical stats. If you have seen the top couple teams in each region play then that might add some legitimacy to your comments. Oh and please just stick to 6A and leave the other classes out unless you want to mDne a case for one of those teams.

How can you not take all those things into account when trying to determine who is the best ? In my opinion, right now, that would be Norcross. They have done what they were supposed to do to this point. They have put points on the board and they have kept their opponent from scoring more than they have. They have done this while playing a tough schedule. They beat Collins Hill(6-3), South Gwinnett(8-2), Parkview(7-2), North Gwinnett(8-1) and Mill Creek(6-3), all of whom are playoff bound. This by far is a much tougher schedule than some of us. They have achieved. There have been a couple publications, namely MaxPreps ang GPB/Score Atlanta that at one point had them as the # 1 team. Different people see the same thing in different ways. That is the point I have been trying to get across to certain people. Notice that I have never said Lovejoy was better, or they would beat anyone ? There is a reason for that. It is called acceptance. There are many good football teams out there but some only see what is apparent. You know, “You can’t see the forest for the tree’s”

@ Sportsnut…You can “accept” anything that you want, but at the end of the day experience and great coaching propel teams deep into the playoffs. Two things that Norcross does not have. Great athletes can surely win games, but without playoff experience and better than just “good” coaching, athletes can’t win in the playoffs by themselves. I guess this concept is easier to understand when you actually have lived it and can draw upon that experience. Camden, Grayson, Lowndes, Colquitt, NG, Brookwood, Lassiter etc. annually reload for a reason. HOWEVER, I must say that having this experience does not permit someone to predict eventual outcomes or winners.

Now…Mr cross…..It is obvious that Norcross has a good football team. You guys have not been beat yet. That will soon come to an end by the hands of camden or grayson. Enjoy your season until round 2….3 at the most …..bc that is as far as it will go.
Grayson fans may not admit it…but they are praying for parkview to lose to south gwinnett…..bc they do not want to have to play camden either
Graysons defense is just as good as camdens and lowndes…may even be nats hair better…but camden has someone named brice ramsey….and that alone in my opinion will be the reason grayson would lose to camden.

the defenses of camden ….grayson..and lowndes and overall team speed at every position is what seperates them from most others. Lowndes has more speed this year than they have the last 2.
when lowndes won 3 titles in 4 years we had a duel threat guy under center…someone who could throw the ball ok if he had to but was more of a threat running the ball. Lowndes has not had that the last 3 years…….and i dont know why ..dont know if we just went away from that or what..but i hear we are going to go back to that with some of thekids we have coming up

I’m glad your excited about your team, but try to be more rational and realistic about the playoffs LOL. I wonder where you will go if Norcross doesn’t deliver everything that you preach? You want Grayson and Camden, but they know who they are and have been in the big dance. Norcross hasn’t been past round two…so who is scared of who here? They also know Norcross’s defense can give up atleast 41 points to a 3rd or 4th seed team. I bet they cancel the title game and hand Norcross the trophy because they are the best team ever!

It appears that Parkview is without Carson who was injured last week, so without him I doubt Parkview can beat South Gwinnett this Friday. If they pull that off and win round 1, I’d say North Gwinnett is the better team. The Haynes kid at QB makes that offense go and even if Carson was back, I believe North’s defense would hold them to 10 points or less. So I’d say You would meet North Gwinnett in that scenario. But again, I believe Grayson will end up winning region 8 this
Friday, so prepare to play Grayson in round 3 because North Gwinnett will not beat Grayson.

Bk-Try not to be so simple minded. Me betting Norcross to get through Grayson and Camden straight up without odds is a dumb bet. I am well aware we will be underdogs in both. I love Norcross but I love money even more. It is not a smart bet. Like I said, I will bet you ($whatever you want) that Norcross wins it all and another $XXXX that Lowndes does not. Therefore if one of our teams wins it all the other pays $XXXX. That bet is fair…there is a reason I don’t play the house games in Vegas…they always get the best of it. What’s wrong no confidence in Lowndes?

The cross………i have beacked you up into a corner like a crawfish and you have waved the white flag with your lil pinchers. You have said numerous times on here over the last 48 hours that norcross would beat camden and they were the best team in the state of GA. Now put up or shut up !!!!! Leave Lowndes out of this…….dont try and bring them into this. I have not said lowndes is the best team in the state and that they would beat camden or grayson or said they will make it to dome like you have my friend. Yes……i do believe lowndes (with our 2 best players able to play) can beat grayson and camden , but i am not going to say they will and guarantee it. We are good enough to and are capable of pulling it off in my opinion. Thats different than you saying ” We are the best ….we will beat camden….blah blah blah

norcross is a good team…but you have not beat a state title caliber team…so i would lay low and let it happen on the field. Lowndes does not have to do that….we have the hardware to prove we no how to get it done….we are in playoffs every year…yes we have been beat…been upset…but we have beat camden before and we have beat some of the more dominant brookwood teams and north gwinnetts. Grasyon has beaten us both times we played them…but they have not blown us out. At 8-3 last year and a #3 seed…..we went on the road in rd 1 and shut out stephenson after they had just put up 49 on mlk the week prior and they had 11 d -1 guys on the team. Grayson only beat us by 8 the nest week. Lowndes has proven themselves. We have a better team this year then we had last year, and we are a lot better on defense in my opinion. On a night where we had our 2 best out against camden…..we had to have our qb play a good game and not make mistakes………but that did not happen and we lost. Against camden…you cant make mistakes…if you do then they score or put you in a bad situation. And if we were to meet them again….we will have play better to have a shot to beat them, even then it may not be enough but we have a good enough team to have a shot.
Norcross is good………you dont go undefeated without being a good squad….but you have never done anything in the playoffs. Until that happens….it makes no sense to say some of the things you do.

I am not getting baited into a poor bet where you get the best odds. My statement was a phrase not placing a wager. But I will put up whatever amount you want that Norcross wins it all… if you place the same wager on Lowndes to win it all.

grayson beat south gwinnett 41-0……..norcross beat them 35-20………thats all you need to know
grayson has a “real” defense…a championship caliber defense…the type of defense that wins you the state title in ga
Valdosta …colquitt….and camden are teams averaging around 400 yds per game…and around 35 to 40 points a game….
all three teams combined for 560 yds against lowndes which avgs out to 185 ys per game. Lowndes held colquitt at colquitt to 14 and valdosta at valdosta to 14 points. Camden had 24 points…but with 6 min to go in game they had 17 points and 140 total yds and we muffed a punt. If that doesnt happen camden winds up with 17 points and 140 yds on our defense…….they can get mad at me all they want to….if our best were in the game that punt doesnt get muffed……those guys dont drop punts

I would love to play norcross……….bc i would bet that 10 points would be all you would score on this lowndes defense………but i want get the chance…..camden or grayson if they wind up in your bracket will end norcross seaoson. If grayson winds up in your bracket then i feel very confident in lowndes making it to dome. If they wind up in our bracket then they are the only team that i feel can put us out….but i also feel we can beat them. Other than them…lovejoy is a lil scary but they have played a very soft schedule all year and the only deent teams they have played …well they are 1-1…..won 42-24 over alpharretta and lost to colquitt 14-7……

Yes our qb chose to play his worse game of the year….part of that was the camden defense but if you go back and watch the game….he had all day to throw the ball….not many times did camdens d get to him….yea it did after 4 to 5 seconds of standing there and then he decides to scramble…….guys were open…..watch the game.. For whatever reason he had a very bad night. Maybe he wont do that to that extent again…..i hope not.

we won it 4 years ago and we won 3 in a 4 yr span and had teams in 2008 and 2009 that were just as good as the teams that we won it all with. We had 3 major injuries before the grayson game in 08 that really hurt us bad going into that game………grayson had prob the best d line in the state that year and we had 3 starting olinemen that couldnt play and it showed badly in that game.
Lowndes will not lose in rd 1 this year for sure……..and i am very confident we will beat lovejoy at lovejoy.
Grayson is the big wild card for everyone to watch…..if they wiind up on your bracket cross then its game over for yall in rd 2
If they wind up in our bracket then we will meet our biggest challenge in rd 3 in trying to get to dome…….and i feel that game will be decided by 7 or less. And yes i do feel we can beat grayson
if yall get to avoid grayson then camden will end norcross season

Avikingfan. I think I would pick NGwinn over Parkview. Like Norcross Fan said, Norths QB is a good one.
BK. I would feel more confident facing Lowndes than Norcross. With the Vikings you know exactly what’s coming and the Rams are good at stopping the running Game. Norcross whipped a very good NG team and everyone else on their schedule.

Bk-If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas! I’ve never seen someone repeat their injury report so much. This is football and injuries and depth are factored in to how good you really are. Kamara is our best rb and arguably the best rb in Georgia by college scouts. Kamara had a high ankle sprain for the first half of the season and we dealt with it by having are 2 and 3 step up. Lowndes obviously is one injury away from mediocrity.
So sorry Bk.

I can assure you that if norcross has to play….lowndes..colquitt…camden…valdosta…coffee…..yall would lose 2 of hose games for sure with or without mr karma
yall beat colquitt in a scrimmage when a butload of their players didnt even play
Grayram……..same goes to you. Grayson will have to beat lowndes this year if we meet by throwing the ball. No team all year long has run on lowndes and if camden can only get 78 yds on 35 carries i am not worried about anyone beating us with the run….not even mr knemdiche and company. cross……..in all seriousness….if grayson and camden can somehow get beat in the playoffs the i like the chances of lowndes and norcross meeting in dome. But that is a big order to have filled.
it will take a mighty……and i mean mighty effort with no mistakes to beat camden and prob grayson as well. Both senior laden teams with a lot of d-1 talent. Lowndes and Norcross have the potential to pull this off but not going to be easy
I feel lowndes defense is every bit as good as camdens and graysons. What seperates camden from everyone else is spelled RAMSEY. Very accurate…strong arm and quik decision making.
And to me you have to have a championship caliber defense to win it all……something i know lowndes has. Does norcross have that kind of d?

The winners from the first round games between Region 2 and Region 3 are the second round trap games. These two regions are being over-looked. Come the 2nd. round, one or two of these teams will surprise. We all know, or we think we know who will be coming from each region and advancing. Lovejoy is slightly in the conversation. Hughes and Newnan are not. Hughes does not score much but they don’t allow much. Granted they play a weak region schedule, they have done what each region winner has done and that is to take control and guide their own destiny. They could be sitting there waiting for Colquit. Numbers could be a problem if the roster is correct and the only have 35-40 players. That will hurt against a running team. No depth. Could Newnan end up playing Valdosta again ? East Coweta sits in a spot that could be good but at the moment is bad. Beating Newton in the first round would leave them Camden, unless we see a repeat of 2010. Druid Hills, the smallest school in 6A, or close to it, is trying to make a little history for itself. They already can claim their first win in 6A. They are the only Dekalb school to play in 6A. All they need to do is win friday against Rockdale and they will make the playoffs at 5-5. Their reward will be Hughes if they do make it in. Problem is, DHHS has given up more points than they have scored, 137-243. They would not be part of the trap. Lovejoy, Hughes and Newnan will be heard from, without question. The traps are Newton and East Coweta. Potential second round sleepers.

Cannon,
It feels great to be back man. Yes, East did travel to Athens to play an undefeated Clarke Central team who had a bunch of talent that year and the Raiders beat the Gladiators 24-10, with our linebacker ripping the ball from their qb’s arms and taking it all the way for a TD as Clarke was driving to possibly tie the game.
Time to take care of Business this week against Toona, the electricity is building for both programs. I’m expecting the Boneyard to have somewhere in the neighborhood of 6,000+ at the game Friday night. Its for the Region Championship and I sure hope all the Raider fans are ready to make some noise Friday Night.

I know everyone keeps going back to how Toon/EAST played North but shouldn;t we look at Rome’s game. They also play a two “stud” backfield and in that game EAST shut them down. That was a game that EAST got up for because they knew it was going to be a big game and both lines played well, Webb picked apart D., and special teams were great. If “that” team shows up tonight…well lets just say, glad Toona does’t have a long drive home. On the other hand, if the team plays “flat” like in some of it’s other games, could be a long night for EAST. Last time was FOX 5 game of the week we played like the best team in the state.
