Four region or subregion titles at stake this weekend

Region or subregion titles will be at stake this weekend in four of the eight Class AAAAA regions. Here are the games that will determine the champions:

*Warner Robins at Northside-Warner Robins: It’s the best rivalry in AAAAA, and this time the stakes are even higher as the winner will take home the Region 2-AAAAA title. Warner Robins leads the series 33-21, but Northside is 11-3 against the Demons since 1998. Northside is 95-3 in regular-season games since the start of the 2003 season, but two of the losses came against Warner Robins.

*Drew at Union Grove: Union Grove is the only team unbeaten in Region 4-AAAAA Division A play, and the Wolverines can claim the subregion title outright with a victory. Drew is one game back, but a victory would create either a two- or three-way (along with Mundy’s Mill) for first place in which the Titans would hold the tiebreaker for the title.

*M.L. King at Tucker: M.L. King can clinch its third consecutive region title with a victory against the Tigers in 6-AAAAA. Tucker can’t clinch the title this week, but a victory against M.L. King puts the Tigers in position to win the No. 1 seed by winning against Mays in the regular-season finale. The other four teams battling for playoff spots in the region will go head to head on Saturday when Miller Grove plays Southwest DeKalb and Stephenson plays Mays. Southwest DeKalb would be eliminated with a loss.

*Pope at Kell: The winner of this battle between east Cobb schools will take the Region 7-AAAAA Division B title and earn the No. 1 seed for the region play-in games next weekend. Kell has won seven consecutive games against the Greyhounds since losing the first game in the series in 2004, which was Kell’s second varsity season. Creekview and Sequoyah have clinched the top two spots in the other subregion.

*Looking ahead: The other four region champions will be determined next weekend when the top two teams meet in regular-season finales. Harris County will play at Thomas County Central in Region 1, Effingham County travels to Ware County in Region 3, Allatoona plays at East Paulding in Region 5, and Gainesville will play at Flowery Branch for the Region 8 crown.

ALLATOONA ( 8 / 0 ) at NORTH PAULDING ( 6 / 2 ) tomorrow night is going to determine a lot as far as seeding for 5 AAAAA…with a win NORTH PAULDING would go to 7 / 2 then win their final game against VILLA RICA 4 / 4 and suddenly NORTH is sitting at 8 / 2…If (and it’s a big if) ROME was to lose one of it’s final 2 games NORTH cold move to the # 3 spot in the Region. Not to mention the fact that they would have the bragging right’s of saying they beat UNDEFEATED ALLATOONA!!!, instead of leaving that for EAST to do next week!!!

It’s going to be a good game to see…I don’t see NORTH stopping ALLATOONA much so it should come down to can ALLATOONA stop NORTH!! It could be another one of those 57 / 56 games like they had a few weeks ago with ROME!!!

EAST has LITHIA SPRINGS this week to tune up for the BIG Nov 9th game with ALLATOONA in “THE BONEYARD”!!! The Battle for the Region 5 AAAAA Title will be on the line Nov.9th!!!

TICK…TICK…TICK…BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

I say go North… Two wins and an east win over Allatoona and we’d have a 3way tie fur second. Imagine North getting a two seed out if it. With a 3 seed North likely ends up paying Flowery Branch in the first round and boy oh boy would it be great to see them okay against their only head coach up until this year in Coach Webb who’s an assistant at FB. ….. Pssst that would be huge motivation for the North guys.

Folks I know there are other rivalry games but I would match the Warner Robins vs. Northside game against any of them. Talk about standing room only! GPTV is really wasting time not putting this game on TV.

I’m pulling for Tri Hi for sure. Last season may have been there program breakout season.
Ahh, Stephenson is my bet to Not Make the playoffs. Stephenson will play SWD, have a week of then face Tucker, MG, MLK and Mays (at Lakewood) in consecutive weeks, brutal. That easily could be three losses.

Northside v Warner Robins is the best rivalry in AAAAA? LOL I hope so, it’s one of the best in the nation.

P.S. For the love of God, please leave (Warner Robins) off of our name. We are simply Northside. I don’t care how many schools in the state are named the same thing, everyone knows who you’re talking about. I hate having (Warner Robins) attached to our name. Call us; Northside (Houston County), or Northside (middle Georgia) if you want to make a distinction. Just leave (Warner Robins) off. It’s beyond insulting. The word ‘Warner Robins’ does not belong in anything describing our school.

@Calvin Coolidge

Northside it is then …..

Wondering why the high school has an address of:
926 Green Street
Warner Robbins, GA 31093

If……. It has nothing to do with describing the school. Well nothing other than geographically it is located. LOL

Since you are so sensitive about it ill just say Go WARNER ROBBINS and be done with it.

@ Team 5A…

This is the MOST TALENTED EAST team…across the board…to step on the field in the 6+ years I have been following them. The “fly in the ointment” is the new coach and how much he allows the players to play the game vs. not trusting them to “play-up” to the level they can.

EAST has kids that have played together for YEARS now…they know each other and how they CAN play…if allowed. EAST has a QB with a CANNON for an arm…He can throw accurate LONG passes as well as pick apart a “D” with short patterns. Get rushed and he doesn’t throw int’s, he tucks it and runs…WELL! BUT ;last week at SOUTH PAULDING was a perfect example of NOT USING the offense properly (and YES, EAST won but only 20 / 16) as the Coach was determined to run, run, run ALL NIGHT! By the 2nd quarter everyone KNEW what was coming and the SOUTH coach’s simply loaded the box and waited for it.

The EAST line this time was good enough to open holes most of the time for Kamani to have two 2nd half TD runs and with 2 field goals from Miles Hemphill of 40 & 32 EAST had the win. Throw a few screens, add in a few long passes and this game could have been another BIG EAST win. They left at least 14 points on the field if not more. This game unfortunately had some extremely bad officials from the Etowah Valley Football Assn., that both teams had to contend with but that has already been addressed in other post.

So with two games to go EAST has to decide which team is going to show up for the playoffs! A tune-up game tonight with 1 / 7 LITHIA SPRINGS then the battle we all been waiting for as ALLATOONA comes to “THE BONEYARD” for the first time ever.

Forgive me for doing this fellow bloggers but I was floored when I stumbled back to a early October blog to find that my name and son was being smeared by @TUCKERPops.

@TuckerPops, if you are listening I want you to know that you are an idiot! Take the Tucker out of your blog name and come up with something else. I don’t defend everything that is said against Tucker and I am very honest in every post that I have made. You are misguided and a loon!

Lastly, you don’t know me or my son so don’t speak to me as if you do! My son was never benched by coach Stephens. As a matter of fact my son was a personal favorite of coach Stephens. The only problem that coach Stephens has with my son was that he was only a 10th grader last year and he wanted to get his senior players on the field. However, that didn’t detour him from starting my son in multiple games.

Now crawl back into that hole you came out of and leave the Tucker Nation alone!

Union Grove has shown as much improvement from first scrimage game to now, as any high school team that I have ever watched. Their hard work is obviously showing up on the field. Good luck tonight UG. you deserve to be rewarded for your hard work.

So much for North upsetting Allatoona Cannon, we THRASHED the Wolfpack and now we will be coming into the Boneyard ready to roll next week!!! Gonna be a battle, but i think my Bucs win by a TD!!! This Bucs team is better than last year’s team because we can throw it as well as we run i, and our defense is better. Look out Cannon, here comes the best coaching staff in the state!
