Class AAAA: No. 1 Sandy Creek visits LaGrange

Games to watch in Class AAAA this week

No. 1 Sandy Creek (7-0, 4-0) at LaGrange (4-3, 3-1): The top-ranked Patriots, who have won 36 straight regular-season games have only been tested once, and that was in a 25-point win over Shaw. With quarterback Cole Garvin directing traffic, Sandy Creek has averaged 45 points per game. The Grangers, with a capable quarterback in Zach Giddens and a group of solid skilled players, could pose a trap for the Patriots, who have a showdown with No. 4 Carrollton looming next week. This is the first meeting between the two schools.

Baldwin (4-3, 3-1) at Mary Persons (5-2, 3-1): Baldwin and quarterback Tahjea Chambers battle Mary Persons for second place in 2-AAAA. The Braves beat Mary Persons 20-7 in 2011, their second straight win in the series. Mary Persons got a strong night from backup running back Dee High in a win over Rutland last week.

Riverdale (6-2, 3-1) at No. 9 Jonesboro (6-1, 2-1), Saturday Tara Stadium: With the second seed in Region 4-AAAA, Division B on the line, Jonesboro and multi-talented Cameron Sutton look to extend their four-game winning streak. The Cardinals have held their last two opponents, North Clayton and Spalding, to a touchdown apiece. Riverdale has dominated the series, but Jonesboro has won the last three.

Carver-Atlanta (7-0, 3-0) vs. Washington (6-1, 2-1), Saturday, Lakewood Stadium: Behind quarterback Jordan Holden (over 1,000 passing yards) and running back Montavious Taylor, explosive Carver has averaged 37 points per game, including 103 points the last two weeks. Carver won 20-12 last year, but Washington has won five of the past seven games against the Panthers.

Gilmer (6-1, 2-0) at River Ridge (3-4, 2-0): River Ridge has righted itself after an 0-3 start, and now has a chance to take sole possession of first place in Region 7-AAAA Division A. Gilmer, coming off a big win over Pickens last week, hasn’t started 7-1 since 1991, when the Bobcats played a non-region schedule.

how ’bout, I agree. Now, it’s starting to get down to the nitty gritty. Sandy Creek has a team full of weapons with a lot of stuff in their playbook. The QB has great targets with Wilson and Kitt and powerhouse RBs and FBs. Looking forward to seeing them finish off the regular season and roll into the playoffs one game at a time. Look out, LaGrange!

All I can say is “Goooooooo Creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!!!!!”
