Volleyball: Pius, DeKalb publics advance in playoffs

Class AAA No. 5 St. Pius won its first-round match in the state playoffs in three sets. The Golden Lions face No. 8 Ringgold tonight. … Class AAAAA Lakeside-DeKalb eliminated Lithia Springs in the first round of the state tournament. The Vikings (27-6) won three of four sets and will host Houston County tonight. … Tucker (29-12) advanced to the second round with a 3-1 over host North Paulding Thursday. No. 10 Harris County is next up for the Tigers. … In Class AAAA, Chamblee defeated Alexander in four sets over the visiting Cougars. The Bulldogs advanced to face No. 1 Veterans Tuesday night. … Class A No. 2 Landmark Christian beat Mount Paran in the first round of the state playoffs and will host Atlanta International tonight. For the War Eagles, Tiffany Creamer had 27 kills, 14 digs and five blocks and Lilly Kesler had 34 assists, 19 digs, seven aces and five kills. … Class A No. 10 North Cobb Christian won in five sets over Our Lady of Mercy and will host No. 8 Holy Innocents’ tonight. Allison Hamilton had 28 kills and 24 digs for the Eagles.

Buford defeated host Islands in Savannah 25-12, 25-18, 25-14 in the Class AAA playoffs. Maggie Roper posted 11 kills, four aces and 10 digs. Kaitlin Tatum had 10 kills and four aces, McKenna Hicks had six aces and Tori Payton added 24 assists.

Buford advances to the top 6 portion of the tournament on Saturday.

Warrior – You are a total DA!!!

They do volleyball by area for state.. Buford was the #3 seed to come out of their area.. The #’s 1 & 2??

Blessed Trinity & St Pius.. THose three are in the Super 6.. Soooo weak?? Yeah, right!!

Buford went to the wire vs a very good Oconee County team, losing 15-13 in the 5th game!! Grats Warriors!!
