Maxwell Ratings: Camden County hangs on to No. 1 in all classes; computer still likes Buford in AAA, forfeits aside

Each week, AJC.com will publish the Maxwell Ratings to give fans a computerized look at how Georgia’s 412 football-playing teams rank in each class and in all classifications.

Below are the rankings through games of Oct. 20.

The Maxwell Ratings are based strictly on scores. As the season progresses, the rankings will rely more and more on this season’s results and less on previous seasons. By the playoffs, the rankings will reflect 2012 results entirely.

The Cross……I think it might be time to take your meds, again! You’re falling off the cliff, again! A scrimmage…… :-)

Future attractions for a particular Norcross fan: “Remember back when, Clem, durin’ the great Colquitt Scrimmage of ‘12? We whooped their fannies! You betcha! Biggest highlight! Love watchin’ them films, Clem! Was better than pickin up chicks at that Norcross bar and ridin’ that bull till I broke my face!”

GwinnettDad-You continue to show your ignorance. It just so happens that this group won the GFL championship four years ago. Why you wouldn’t support a fellow Gwinnett program is beyond me. But if you want to continue this battle of wits I am certainly ready because so far you appear unarmed.

And frankly nothing that happened before this year is actually relevant as it relates to who wins the State this year. One thing is for sure, it won’t be your Broncos because they stink. We would put up 70 points on that porous D.

Thanks again GwinnettDumb-Dumb…I’ll consider this to be my community service for the day. It feels good to help the less fortunate. I don’t even know you but I am 100% confident that I am smarter, richer and much better looking.

We’ll see if Norcross can shut down Peachtree Ridge better than Camden did 42-0. If they don’t, I’m sure they’ll be some excuse. There’ll ALWAYS will be some excuse. Count on it!

The Cross……..Come on man! You expect to try and slip a scrimmage in as a legitimate game and not get criticized for it, what are you, 10? Take your meds! :-)

GwinnettDumb-dumb-I don’t need to make excuses…we are 8-0 and will be 9-0 after Friday. You on the other hand got beat by a Parkview team that we spanked 20-0. I don’t think they got a first down until the 3rd quarter. And also by a weak Walton team who is struggling to make the playoffs. The Broncos will be 6-4 at year end and Norcross will be 10-0. Why would I need an excuse for that Dumb-Dumb?

I know it’s a rough year for Brookwood but there is always next year. Don’t be so jealous of The Cross. You are embarrasing yourself.

Oh Camden74….I wasn’t slipping in a scrimmage for any other purpose than to discuss SoS and who we have beaten. You may not be as competitive as I am, but if it’s any kind of contest and they are keeping score I desire to win. So sorry.

Can’t wait to see you in round 3…I’ll make dinner. How do yopu like your crow? With or without stuffing?

Norcross is the best team in this state…and it is not even close.

Norcross has lost 8 out of 11 to Brookwood, 21 out of 35 to Central Gwinnett, 20 out of 32 to Parkview, roughly split with South Gwinnett and Berkmar, and have beaten Meadowcreek 13 out of 14 of which I’m sure @The Cross is very proud.

Historically, Norcross is 291-253. Better than average. Barely.

I wish Norcross well, actually. It’s the fellow with the big mouth and bigger ego that detracts from their team this year. Too bad. Wonder if they’ll make the third round? I wonder if they’ve EVER made a third round?

And if anybody has to talk up a GFL championship, which is just Gwinnett, and just up to 8th grade, please don’t embarrass yourself further.

@The Cross – Made me laugh! Shame I don’t bet because that 40 point foolishness was so funny I laughed out loud! In our 145 game history only 3 teams have put up 40 or more on us and that was in 04 &05. Since 05, only 2 teams have put up 30 or more – Brookwood in 05 (37) and Colquitt in 10 & 11 (31 both years.) While I don’t bet I probably can find someone that would take that bet.

You put waaaay to much faith in the transitive property comparing teams’ common opponents. For every game/team you can show where it works I can show a combination where it didn’t work. At best you can only judge that team on that night. If you really want to carry through, let’s look at our other common opponent – South Gwinnett. You won 35-20, we won 41-0. See, there really isn’t a ton of validity in the comparison. Norcross has a good team this year. Enjoy it and try not to make a fool of yourself.

GwinnettDumb-dumb-I was really just joking earlier, but as it turns out you are really dense. I only brought up the GFL championship because you made an erroneous post earlier and I was clearing up the fact that you are either ignorant to the facts or a liar, but either way you have ZERO credibility.

And then because your team stinks this year and Norcross has the best team in the State, you want to bring up 50 years of past records. It is not relevant dumb-dumb. I am surprised you are even up this late, I thought the chicken farms in Gainesville get started early.

Always next year dumb-dumb or just live in the past like you are doing now.

@ the Cross…Enough really is enough! I find it VERY hard to believe that you have been around football for over 30+ years (a lot of your comments are irrational). i.e. comparing wins and loses between teams, when someone who actually knows football understands that each game has its own dimensions that ALWAYS change between opponents throughout the season. There is no value in being so arrogant. You sound like a high school student fan or a wishful thinking college student fan. IF you have been around 30+ years…then you would have to be in your upper 30’s or mid 40’s at least. IF that is true, then you are one hell of a bad example to these respectable young men who play under the lights. You are a fully grown and experienced adult that verbally vomits on this blog like a 15 year old kid who thinks they know everything. You’re a mystery for sure, but no one has argued with you about the fact that Norcross is legit. Save yourself some time and save us all the BS…talk football or run your anonymous mouth elsewhere.

@ the Cross…
“Number 1- Norcross was beating Mill Creek 38-14 midway through the third quarter. We called off the dogs, but Mill Creek caught fire scoring 21 points in 8 minutes on our second D. The game was never in jeopardy but I believed we learned our lesson there. We beat Parkview 20-0…does that mean our defense is far superior to Grayson’s who gave up 22 points? Your statement/argument borders on moronic.”

Actually his argument is fashioned from logic and rational thought process….not arrogance and boasting. Based on this comment you made, NG’s defense is BETTER than Norcross because we only gave up 28 to Mill Creek. To say that Parkview’s defense is THAT much better than Grayson’s (if even better at all) because Grayson turned the ball over FOUR times on their side of the 50 is “moronic”. I wonder what you would have said if your blue Devils had lost to Parkview with FOUR turnovers on your side of the 50. Save me the headache and just stop. Also, you claim that you rationalize your arguments based on the results produced on the field, but in reading your comments I find it utterly obvious that all you interpret are the NUMBERS. That is called a contradiction. You obsess over rankings that mean nothing, but claim that you rely on the “on-the-field” product. You CAN NOT compare scores to justify your argument on why you think Norcross is the best thing since sliced bread. I was at the MC vs. Norcross game, and Maloof panicked when MC started coming back. He put EVERYONE back in after MC’s second TD. Norcross held on for dear life. For anyone interested, google that game and watch for yourself. Your “logic” would imply that NG is actually better than Norcross because NG beat MC convincingly in the last 3 quarters. A problem with your “logic” though, we lost to ya’ll weeks before. See the problem? Regardless, you know everything with your “30+ year football experience” so I guess we will all have to agree…

cchswildcat. I heard you can’t get on campus until after 3. It’s gonna be the best game in the nation on next Friday. But let’s not look past Brunswick tomorrow night. At “The Cross”, can we enjoy the regular season first and worry about the playoffs when they get here.

@ everyone—You certainly cannot compare scores from previous games to validate your point. You can throw all the stats and scores out of the window. The only thing that matters is who is the best team come play-off time. Our Camden Wildcats have won in the playoffs; therefore I think experience in big games is paramount. What will the teams do when it is win or go home? Can they handle the pressure? All I can say is the Camden Wildcats will be ready come play-off time. No trash talking, just lining up and playing football. The last time we won the state championship the score was Camden 31 Northside Warner Robins 3. Many of our current seniors were part of that team. Our kids know what it means to play in big play-off games. Best of luck to everyone. Showing class on and off the field will never have anything to do with the final score. If I thought my team was as good as Norcross I would downplay their ability to win games. It is crazy to put a bulls-eye on your back. A lot of talk means you will have to put up or shut up. Teams that haven’t been there and done that have difficulty winning the big one.

I think the ratings should only be for AAAAAA because there is an obvious slant showing their strength of schedule over all other classes. Truth is, Burke, Calhoun, Sandy Creek and Peach county are just a good as any in that class.

hey who knew parkview would of beat grayson. It can happen. It can happen to Camden, It can happen Lassiter, it can happen to norcross. So aside the argument between ng09 , gwinnett dad etc. It’s not what happens regular season but what happens in the post. so what norcross gave up some points to MC. when they play that number 1 seed it wont matter.

These ratings compute scores. They don’t consider classification. I guess it’s all a matter of opinion, but I’d feel confident that the best four teams in AAAAAA would sweep those four you mention if they played 1-4 head to head. Burke, for one, has lost to a AAA team.
