Alpharetta 55, North Forsyth 21: The host Raiders had an interception by Michael Downing on North Forsyth’s first drive. Josh Dobbs led the offense with five passing touchdowns. His top targets were Carlos Burse, who caught three touchdowns, and Rodney Morris and Daniel Clements, who each had one. Julian Macon, Sefohn Perry and Lem Cobbs added a rushing touchdown each.

Archer 23, Central Gwinnett 8: Sean Fowler scored a touchdown and led the visiting Tigers with 130 yards rushing. K.J. Ezzell added a safety for the Black Knights.

Brookwood 30, Shiloh 24: Brookwood built a 21-3 advantage then survived a furious second-half Shiloh rally to hang on for victory. Zach Moon threw touchdown passes of 60 yards to Colin Cotter and 25 yards to Jamaal Cole for the visiting Broncos. They also got a six-yard scoring run from Cole and three field goals from Brandon Morrow.

Centennial 26, Lambert 7: The Knights won their first game of the season as quarterback Chase Rosenberg hit receiver Christian Robinson on three touchdown passes in the first half from 21, 85 and six yards. Lambert scored their first-half touchdown on a 1-yard plunge by quarterback Brock Maxwell. Rosenberg threw for 190 yards, 145 of them to Robinson.

Chattahoochee 28, South Forsyth 24: After South Forsyth kicked a go-ahead field goal with two minutes remaining, Travis Marshall threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Avery Ward with 17 seconds left to win it for visiting Chattahoochee. The Cougars first three scores came on strikes of 32, five and 29 yards from Marshall to Collin Lisa. Marshall threw for 403 yards, 259 of which went to Lisa.

East Coweta 24, Westlake 7: Visiting East Coweta opened the scoring in the second quarter with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Bryce Gemmel to Alex Portress. Westlake had a punt return for touchdown called back in the third quarter that would have brought the Lions to within three points.

Grayson 62, Berkmar 0: The Rams jumped out early on the host Patriots and cruised. The Rams scored 35 points in the first quarter and were up 42-0 at the half. Grayson’s offense was led by running back Wayne Gallman who had 155 yards and one touchdown in the first half before the second unit went on the field.

Habersham Central 31, Meadowcreek 12: The Habersham Central running game was too much for visiting Meadowcreek as Sydnee Mulligan had 25 rushes for 197 yards and a 4-yard touchdown and Brandt Rinehart had 25 carries for 126 yards and touchdown runs of 7 and 48 yards. Juan Domingo hit a 37-yard field goal at the end of the first half to give the Raiders a 21-6 halftime lead.

Langston Hughes 34, Douglas County 7: The host Panthers jumped on top early and held a big lead throughout much of the second half. Langston Hughes was attempting to pitch a third straight shutout, but Douglas County quarterback Ellis Richardson scored a late touchdown on a short plunge to the end zone.

Lovejoy 50, Morrow 0: Lovejoy surged to a 42-0 halftime lead and coasted to victory over Morrow. Travis Custis led the visiting Wildcats with eight carries for 111 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half. Montrell Custis added a 25-yard blocked punt returned for touchdown and Brandon Davis picked off a pass and took it 100 yards.

Marietta 56, Kennesaw Mountain 21: The visiting Blue Devils controlled the game from start to finish. Marietta had 362 total yards of offense and star quarterback Anthony Jennings went 9-of-11 passing for 205 yards and four touchdowns and also rushed for 57 yards on 12 carries including a touchdown. Marietta’s defense added a pair of fumble recoveries for touchdowns.

Newnan 34, Tri-Cities 16: The visiting Cougars coughed up the football three times inside their opponents’ five-yard line, including twice in the endzone. Tyler Mulvenna booted two field goals for Newnan and Tonaris Portress returned an interception for a touchdown.

North Gwinnett 47, Mill Creek 28: Quarterback Michael Haynes led the visiting Bulldogs by completing 19-of-30 passes for 247 yards and four touchdowns. Haynes rushed for 116 yards on 20 carries, while Cam Lewis added 118 yards and two touchdowns for North Gwinnett. Bulldogs’ wide receiver Nate Brown pitched in with seven catches for 97 yards and two touchdowns.

Peachtree Ridge 34, Mountain View 12: The visiting Lions coasted to victory over Mountain View thanks to a big night by running back Jordan Ellis, who scored three touchdowns and rushed for 232 yards on 30 carries. Connor Rouleau added two field goals for Peachtree Ridge.

Rockdale County 21, Luella 20: The Bulldogs needed a gutsy decision and some tough running to squeak past visiting Luella. Kentavius Preston scored his second touchdown with under two minutes to play to pull Rockdale County within one point of Luella. Head coach Venson Elder then elected to go for the win, and Preston rushed for the two-point conversion and deliver the thrilling home win.

@all of you who think that Lowndes can even stay on the field with Camden. Ain’t gonna happen!! Lowndes has been overrated from day one. They’ve played no one of consequence in the early part of the season. They squeaked by a mediocre-at-best Valdosta sqad trying to stay afloat in a region with much bigger schools. @the near-moron who thinks any talent at Valwood could help is on crack. Valwood is good, in their own little world. As to why “they went there” they went there so they could play football, not for any other reason. Evidence indicates that they wouldn’t even play on the JV squads for any of the schools in R1AAAAAA. This year its a walk in the park for Camden.

WILDHAWG2012 –The Region 1-AAAAAA tiebreaker system when three teams are tied, as illustrated in your question, is points allowed to region playoff teams. So far Lowndes has allowed 14 to Valdosta and 14 to Colquitt. Valdosta has allowed over 40 to Camden and 17 to Lowndes. Coffee has a chance to win that 4th playoff spot, as they haven’t played Valdosta, Lowndes, or Colquitt yet, I don’t think. Too early yet to assume anyone is a lock form the playofs, cept maybe Camden.

WILDHAWG 2012 — I left out a part about how the three way tie would be settled, in my previous post. After the team that has surrendered the most points among region playoff teams is eliminated, leaving two teams tied, it then goes to who won head to head.

Coach “Tiny” at Colquitt County is our region’s secreatary. He can explain it all to you if you have other questions.

Where’s Cobb County this year on these blogs? Walton was represented before they got spanked. Nobody from Hillgrove this year. North Cobb and South Cobb occasionally. McEachern?

Camden’s fans have NEVER been under represented, or for that matter, terribly modest. But what else are fans for? Region 1-AAAAAA by far the most represented.

Just keeping out the way, GwinnettDad..and enjoying the lack of talk about us this season, to be honest. Indians are playing a little better each game but another important one this Friday against North Cobb. A win would put us in prime position going into a bye week but gonna be tough to beat dem Warriors…they really laid the wood to Hillgrove last week, responding well to that loss to South Cobb the week before.

@ GAHSFBFAN24 == First of all, you don’t know a thing about Lovejoy. Second, we lost 14-7 and any person with a basic knowledge of math does not consider this a crushing defeat. Second, I think there is always a chance to lose. However, I do not think either can beat Lovejoy. Dang GwinnettDad — This is the first time I ever saw you on the side of a region 1 team! Keep at it, we ‘preciate it! But unless you are from White Water you’ll never win an argument with a Northside fan. They’ve listened to EagleNationRising too long. @Northside Dawg – it wouldn’t hurt. A newspaper article would help. Something else than gossip, which is just hot air. Same rap has been used on Buford up here about recruiting for years. Some parents simply move to winning programs, no recruting necessary. Such accusations don’t flatter the accuser at all, since most accusations prove to be simply sour grapes – often based on jealousy or anger.

Coffee county has still got a ways to go b4 they will be legit….putting up 39 on them was no big deal…burke county scored 32 on them at coffee……burke is 3aaa…so whoopty doo

Lowndes has not been the power we were in 2004, 05, 07…09…but we are close and will be back their over the next 2 years as i have been saying

the only suprise score that you guys have put out there was 43-6 on valdosta….other than that no suprises……..we all expected yall to spank tift and coffee….bc the truth is they really are not that good and havent really been in a while

yall have not done anyting i rally havent expected……i didnt see 43-6 at dosta coming…i though more like 34-17 ..34-20

@Gwinnett Dad – If I had to go into a court of law, by no means, could I prove it. But back in the spring of 2010, that was the word circulating among some of the Northside community. Due to the possible sensitivity of the subject, that is about all I can say at this point. Northside was looking for a strong opponent for week 2, and could not find anyone to play them, which is why Northside wound up scheduling Kendrick (an embarrassment) that week, the only team that would play them. I probably shouldn’t have “barged into” the conversation with this “out of the blue” item.

You got to agree on this, region 1 6a will be the state champions…… If grayson did have a bad game as we all do at times, they will be the ONLY team that may compete for it.. NC again is a 1 man team, Parkview, will fall early. NG has had 4 years of great teams and couldn’t do it. Lassiter again is a one man team, and printz is the real thing, but can’t win 15 games straight.

UNLESS, there is a darkhorse somewhere out their that plays above their potential…….

Autry is a phenom jumior, Lorenzo Carter will eat any OT lunch, Tate is a tackling machine and our offensive line avg 275 lbs. and are all athletic and well coached and will drive you off the ball. We have a great QB and a WR corp and two D1 corners. We are far from a one man team.

I sure hope whomever we play has the size to play alongside our recievers. That 2nd. round matchup vs. Region 1 will be epic. How are these teams in the playoffs going to look against 6′1, 6′3, 6′4, 6′4 and 6′6. The O-line with 300, 295, 290, 285 and 285. The D-line of 300, 270, 270, Linebackers at 250 225 and 205. Db’s at 5′10-175, 6′0-185, 6′0-195 and 6′0-190. Safety is 6′2-205. Speed to spare. QB stands 6′3-220. Sixteen of these return from a 14-1 year and 8 of the defensive starters return. All-State running back that had 1800+ yards last season along with 31 TD”s. My question is wheather or not the rest of 6A is ready for them? Not if they are ready for it!.Keep us in the back of your minds. The view will become clear soon enough.

@Sportsnut – Such posts used to come from Stephenson here, who has been loaded with talent year after year, but has lost most often in the first round. What really seems to matter? Coaching in a program that’s been there before, and sometimes a tough region schedule to mature the team. Lovejoy looks to have neither. 0 State titles at any level. A very weak schedule this year. Good luck come playoffs. Lovejoy will need it. Play up that 14-1 season last year for all its worth.

@ Camden74 == You will need more than 5′8-165 to stop this. @ GwinnettDad == Why are you still making that comparison? I told you we are not Stephenson. We have a fine Coach and staff working with him. We have been there. Did we not play for the title last year? We also played a weak schedule last season, that is until the playoffs. You are another that does not know anything about Lovejoy. That which you do know, you seem afraid to admit. We will keep that 14-1 but it only counts in the past. The time is now. All I know about Lovejoy is they gave us one of our all time worst whuppings, 42-3 in the 2002 playoffs! And, they played Colquitt tough this year losing 14 – 7.But how they will compare to Camden or Lowndes this year is anybody’s guess. Somehow I don’t see them advancing far enough to play NG, Parkview or Grayson.

We are all guessing, cept maybe the Camden folks.

If you look back, you will see that we were not favored to make it to the Dome. Did not have a chance. Ware would beat us. Next week it was Kell. They fell. Then came Warner Robins. They also fell. We still have to get past Coffee as well but I think we’ll be okay in the playoffs if our OL shows up. That’s our only question mark
