The three-game round-robin that will determine the top three playoff seeds from 6-AAAAA begins on Friday when second-ranked Tucker meets No. 4 Stephenson. Tucker has won 20 consecutive games, and I give the Tigers a slight edge in making it 21, but nothing in this region will be decided until both teams play No. 3 M.L. King in the next couple of weeks. Lowndes and Valdosta also meet this week in the state’s biggest rivalry, and I expect Lowndes to come out on top and keep pace with Camden County.
Congratulations go out to David Foley of Alpharetta, who was last week’s winner in the High School Football Pickoff contest. Foley was the only contestant to correctly pick the winner in 14 of 15 games. Click here to sign up and participate in this week’s contest.

Ive seen Lowndes play. They are not that good….even not as good as their team last year. The Colquitt win was a giant fluke and we all know why. They have not played anyone. Im not sure Valdosta beats them but they will get exposed very shortly.

“ROME over NORTH PAULDING”…Not this time, NORTH is on a roll since the loss to EAST in game 1,
Look for a great game, a packed house as the ROME Wolves get whipped by the WOLFPACK of NORTH PAULDING…look for something like a 24 / 21 or 28 / 24 game!
Meanwhile the RAIDERS of EAST will be on the other end of the county SWATTING some HORNETS!!! as they travel to HIRAM!

Don’t be so sure to pick Tucker over Stephenson; Tucker has not played the quality of teams that Stephenson has been accustomed to playing. Critics are picking Tucker based on history of Tucker, keep in mind that Stephenson has been playing out of it’s league playing in the state’s highest classification. New year! new classification! New mind set! Let show em Jags…

5-Time, what do you mean same old Stephenson–these guys are playing down in classification. You guys act like Stephenson go the beat down playing in the State highest classification; they would always come up short in the play-offs by loosing by either a touchdown or 7 points and or in overtime. They have beaten Tucker in the preseason and tied them when they ran the tables and won the state championship while they played in AAAA… Stephenson is ready and are not intimidated by no Dekalb County teams…

Very good points JAB. Taking nothing away from Tucker High School I expect a very good football although I also expect some mistakes made on boths sides of the ball. I believe this game will come down to a penalty resulting in a firrst down, or whoever has the ball last will win the game. Stephenson can win this game if they do to things.
1. Win field position & score when opportunity present itself
2. Defense Defense Defense getting off the field. Clock mangaement. Staying relaxed & playing loose.
These are the keys to me for a victory for Jaguar nation.
Still got be baffled how this is not the game of the week in Metro Area?

@ RCHS == They could have been better people say if not for the mis-fortune of the Qb. this past summer. I am not sure about that as I watched them against Lovejoy and unless he was a prolific runner, the end result I believe would have been the same. They play no D. The Qb. is O.K. and he has a nice receiver, #81 I think. Coaching is bad. They had a third and 6 and quick kicked, in the first quarter. To me, that made no sense.

Can’t wait for Stephens County to find out what the Hurricanes are all about this year!! This is Monroe Area’s year. The Hurricanes are more stacked than they have ever been. Stephens’ Thornton will get his yards, but the Indians’ D has never seen the likes of Kwan Brooks and Stanton Truitt in the backfield.

I don’t think that Valdosta is as bad as people think, they have 2 loses, both to top ranked teams. I think Lowndes will pull it out tonight, but it will not be a blowout.
Coffee should get a big win tonight over a beat up Brunswick football team, that one could be a blowout. Go Trojans!
Camden should win easily over a rebuilding Tift Co football team, Tift Co much like Coffee is in it’s 5th consecutive rebuilding season, but should be back next year.

Chip, there is NO WAY you can possibly know enough about all 300 or so teams in the state to make predictions on ALL of them. Why don’t you stick with predicting the big marquee games and not offend the fans of at least 50 to 100 schools who know better than your glance-at-a-page and look at the teams’ records predictions?

Monroe, you guys ARE really good and you’re blowing up the scoreboard, but Stephens loss last week was more due to the absence of 5 starters (including a WR with 700 yards of catches and a linebacker with almost 50 tackles this year), than it was to the quality of Chestatee. Chestatee is a solid, 3 yards and a cloud of dust team, but 8 games out of 10, Stephens would’ve won. I think this score is going to resemble a basketball game more than a football game. Someone will win like 56-49 and I’d say ya’ll are only favored because you’re at home.

@JAB and the rest of Stepehnson posters
Just to get the record straight…
Tucker and Stephenson has played 3 Scrimmage games (might I add they don’t count in any record books) and the series is tied 1-1-1
2008 Tucker Won 18-15 Tucker Finished 14-1 State Chapms SHS Finished 9-2 (lost to Luella & Coffee Co.)
2009 SHS Won 16-0 SHS Finished 11-1 (lost to Colquitt)Tucker finished 9-3 (lost to Sandy Creek)
2011 7-7 Tie. Tucker was undefeated that year with a perfect 15-0 season
, and SHS finished 9-2 (lost to MLK and Lowndes)

@ NeutralFan….please explain why you feel the Vikes aren’t that good. is it due to lack of playmakers? is it b/c of the level of competition that the Vikes have played? is it b/c you feel that the team you support is better? if you’re going to make a statement such as that please do us all a favor & back up your comment with some intelligent facts…

@BigGrown…. i can understand your argument. in another post i was explaining to Suwanee Owns about rivalries, traditions, & pride. the NSWR / WR is a huge rivalty, very similar to the Vikings & Wildcats. But how many times have the Eagles & Demons been on national television? Other good rivalries would include
TCCHS / THS
Parkview / Brookwood
i’m sure there are more that i can’t think of right now….

@Cannon,
I’m with you on the North/Rome game. I think it’s a big turn out and that North gets it first ever truly signature win on Homecoming night. Think it might be a little higher scoring maybe 41-38 or 38-35.
Just don’t see either team really stopping the other much.

GREAT win for the Jags over the weekend. Next up a very dangerous Miller Grove team considering MLK is the next week. One game at a time Jags, each game at this point is just as important as the next regardless of the opponent.
Regardless, of how the first three seeds fall in from our region… That number three seed is going to be the most dangerous three seed in the tournament.
