WHAT A GAME … Landmark 30 Our Lady of Mercy 27 !! It’s hard to imagine that there was a better game in the state than this one. Back and forth excitement all night … both teams left it all on the field. When OLM scored a TD with a little over a minute left, and went up 24-21 the sidelines went crazy for OLM and the air went out of the Landmark fans. Then Landmark drove down the field with backup QB ( starting QB hurt on 1st series ) making crisp throws and moving the chains to the 4 yard line with 4 seconds left to lead to the tying FG. Hats off to both teams … Landmark never quit … & OLM showed that they BELONG. Two fine teams that will be playoff contenders for sure.

Swamp: You’re right, both teams left it all on the field. Problem is…Landmark guys had ZERO character & class. The cheap shots they took all night after whistles were blown was unbelievable. Heard from a reliable source that after the game the Landmark coaches (maybe not ALL the coaches, but one is too many) walked up to the OLM coach and when the OLM coach said “Good game” the Landmark coach replied with “HOW’D YA LIKE THAT…HOW’D THAT FEEL?” They acted as if they had won the super bowl after the game, making gestures at the OLM fans. They’re lucky that Fant went down…because they had NO answer. He would have baited that QB all night. Bottom line is this: I’ve been around this game for a LONG time….and seen many teams that lack some class at times. This Landmark “CHRISTIAN” school has ZERO character/class…and it’s idiots/morons like them that make so many people not want anything to do with “CHRISTIANS”. Hypocrisy at it’s finest!

Congrats Landmark on pulling out the victory and Mercy for hanging tough all game. Best wishes on a speedy recovery for #2. ThisGuy disagrees with ThatGuy on his view of the post game festivities, but such is the world I guess. Landmark definitely didn’t win the super bowl…no way they could stop Matt Ryan and those Falcons receivers after Mercy threw the ball on them last night! Landmark did however act like they won a game huge Region game after being down with only a minute to go having to drive 80 yards with a freshman QB who had already thrown two picks!!! Best of luck to the Mercy players the rest of the way.

Great game last night , totally disagree with ThatGuy , your reliable source is dead wrong . The coach in question would never say that type of garbage to another coach . The players from both sides talked a lot of smack to each other during the whole ball game . OLM has a good team , Landmark has a good team . Football is a emotional and physical game . You play till the whistle blows period , and you never celebrate until the clock shows all zero’s .

OLM-Landmark was a fantastic game last night. I have heard from multiple people that were on the field after the game that what “thatguy” wrote is exactly what happened. Landmark played hard and often led to hits after the whistle. The real shame is what was allowed to go on near the buses in the parking lot that showed the Landmark coaches had no concern with controlling thier players or respecting the opponents

Why is it that the team that wins always has to be classless or dirty according to the team that loses? The losing team is just always so gracious in defeat and played the perfect game of sportsmanship huh??? Maybe we should have just gone Upward style and ruled a tie after regulation so that nobody would get their panties in a bunch. 2 years ago Mercy beat landmark for the first and only time and after the game the two teams prayed together at midfield after being invited by Landmark. Now this happened after players danced on the eagle at midfield and gave their coach a Gatorade shower…now talk about winning the super bowl! Wonder if the caption read 27-24 Olm if we would be having this discussion…

I cant speak to what happened two years ago but I know what I saw last night. That was asshattery that was encouraged by parents and coaches.

Not sure if Thatguy was at the same game I was attending last night. I stayed until almost all team members, fans, and coaches had departed. Besides some obnoxious bells being rung all night I believe LCS conducted themselves like any winning team would have done….with excitement and enthusiastically. I recall much of the same reaction when OLM went ahead with only one minute remaining. I do recall seeing a few LCS guys even helping OLM players up after tackling them! So sad that if you don’t win you start pointing fingers and making up junk! Best of luck OLM and LCS. #2 hope you are up and running again soon!

JUST A FAN WATCHING THE GAME … I do not mean this in a bad way, but Landmark is a physical team that will try to intimidate the other team … is that wrong? No. Was OLM intimidated? No. It was just two good teams getting after each other ….. FOOTBALL. As far as fans going over the edge and running mouths ….. that’s wrong. I sat in the middle of the LM fans and I didn’t see or hear negitivity towards OLM. They were just thrilled they got away with a win, after most of them …. like myself … thought it was already a loss. Two very good teams …. I didn’t see either team play “dirty”.

@ footballmom … Thank you for posting! Your team will be fine and do well the rest of the way. It’s nice to post and talk with fans that have “character” and “class”.

In my opionion, Mercy should have won the game because the refs called back a touchdown, which was the worst call I have ever seen. And also shoutout to #3 for Mercy for shutting down Landmarks best receiver #5.

Obviously mercy did an amazing job competing against last years state runner ups. It proves to show the talent and ability that mercy has. In my opinion, mercy’s quarterback did a swell job in managing the game. A few missed balls here and there, but he led a 70 yard drive that resulted in a touchdown late in the game. His poise on the offensive end makes him a fit quarterback for this mercy team. Can’t wait to see him step into his full potential, and lead mercy to a playoff run.

@ THE GUY …. I guess that about sums it up! I know in the heat of battle our actions might not reflect our true character. I hope this young man can see it in himself to get on his knees and ask for forgivness …. for embarassing himself, his teammates, and his school. Throwing Christians ( & Christian Schools ) under the bus isn’t right either. Christians make mistakes, Christians are not perfect, we strive to be , but we do make mistakes. Just because we strive to have “character” and to be “leaders” ( & we should be ) doesn’t mean we will not fail. I do think the coaches getting together ( with the players ) to resolve this issue would be a big step in the right direction.
