ajc does not care about our beloved camden county wildcats. we need a STATE wide newspaper that is not biased. we could publish it in warner robins. that would cover the entire state and not just atlanta. any takers?

You guys have a great program that basically no one in the ajc coverage area cares about. In all seriousness there is zero chance ajc is going to invest the time and effort to cover region 1. They get no money from so ga….. And they are a business making business decisions as to where to invest their efforts.

I get that AJC does’t FOCUS on So Ga; What I don’t get is that they don’t MENTION it. Dc, you make perfect sense, except…they don’t apply the same logic to NCAAFB. THey don’t make any money from Alabama, or Carolina, or Gator fans either. Yes, they focus on GA teams, but the SEC is all over the place (has been since I started reading Bisher as a kid). At least acknowledging the best teams in the state outside the metro area would tamp down some of the frurstration.

Maybe as we get closer to the playoffs, any teams likely to even be in contention with Metro teams, will get some press. I suggest we (a Camden fan, yes) just keep playing well, and take comfort in that. The SEC has noticed Camden with 3 starters committed for the fall. Maybe the Athens Herald will cover Camden, even if from a “how are our recruits doing” perspective.

I could care less about AJC giving Region 1 coverage, they will be forced to cover us during the playoffs when we start destroying Atlanta area teams. After all, six of the last nine state championships have come from those boys in South Ga. Camden, Lowndes, Colquitt, and Coffee. If you put any of these teams in Atlanta they would run away from the competition. We are truely the SEC of Georgia Highschool football.

I saw Camden County play for the first time this year last night. They are good, very good i might add. I live in Lowndes County, I see them play all the time and at this point would have to say Camden has the advantage. Lowndes is big and fast on both sides of the ball which is normally to their advantage. But when they play Camden they will play a team that is just as fast with better players at the skilled positions. I came to see JJ Green who came up big like always, but Camden has another four or five running backs who are just as fast.It will be a Great game, I say Camden wins 20-17.

But they always have athletes, and if they replace Probst with someone like Coffee and Tift went after and got, this region will be solld from top to Brunswick.

Lowndes 52, Brunswick 00 : Lowndes head coach Randy McPherson said his team wasn’t distracted this week at practice, despite allegations the Vikings cheated in their win over rival Colquitt County last Friday night. The Vikings’ focus showed Friday night, when they blew out the Brunswick Pirates 52-8 at Martin Stadium to improve to 6-0 on the year and 2-0 in region play.“They did (play focused),” McPherson said. “They were ready to go. We had a good game plan, and I am proud of them.”Up next for the Vikings is rival Valdosta in the Winnersville Classic.Senior Tiquan Lang dominated on both sides of the football Friday night. The dual-threat standout made his presence felt on both offense and defense.Lang scored the Vikings’ first touchdown of the game on a 5-yard run on the opening possession, and finished with 94 yards rushing. Defensively, he recorded three interceptions, the first of which set up a Lowndes touchdown pass at the end of the first half.“It feels real good,” Lang said. “My team came out and played tonight. … The coaches kept our heads right and told us not to listen to any outsiders. You know, we play as a team. … You have to take it one game at a time. We are going to come out and play next week in a zone.”McPherson had nothing but praise for Lang’s performance following Friday’s game.“Tiquan is a good player,” McPherson said. “He is one of those guys that we can use on both sides of the ball.”The Vikings had little problem moving the ball, racking up 475 yards of total offense against the Pirate defense.Nick Burgman finished with 104 yards rushing on six carries, with a pair of rushing touchdowns to go along with a first quarter receiving touchdown. Ahman Brown finished with 69 yards rushing and two scores, while Tevin Brown added a rushing and receiving touchdown.Lowndes quarterbacks Alex Stephenson and Seth Carlo both threw touchdown passes on the night. Carlo connected with Burgman for a 31-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter that gave the Vikings a 13-0 lead. Stephenson tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Tevin Brown that put Lowndes ahead 38-8 late in the first half.“It was definitely a good night for us,” McPherson said. “I think we are getting better.”Lowndes opened the scoring with an 8-play, 99-yard drive capped off by Lang’s 5-yard touchdown run.Following a 20-minute delay due to a Brunswick injury, the Vikings recorded two quick scores to take a 21-0 lead. Carlo and Brown connected on their touchdown, followed by a 12-yard touchdown run by Ahman Brown, who also scored the two-point conversion to put Lowndes ahead 21-0.After a 34-yard field goal by Gustavo Gonzales, which increased the Vikings’ lead to 24-0, Tre’ Jackson recovered a Brunswick fumble to set up Ahman Brown’s second rushing touchdown of the night, a 5-yard run up the middle. Lowndes led 31-0 with 8:48 remaining in the first half.Backup quarterback Lavosh Wynn put the Pirates on the scoreboard with a 68-yard touchdown run. He then threw a two-point conversion to make the score 31-8, the Pirates’ only points of the night. The Vikings concluded the first half scoring with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Stephenson to Tevin Brown.Lowndes added to its lead in the third quarter while managing to run time off the clock. Burgman found the end zone on a 10-yard touchdown run, his second of the night, followed by Tevin Brown’s 17-yard touchdown run, which was aided by a massive bone-crushing block from Stephenson.Brown’s touchdown capped the scoring as the junior varsity team played the entire fourth quarter.Friday’s game was delayed for nearly 20 minutes midway through the first quarter when several Viking defenders sacked Brunswick quarterback Cory Dixon, who remained motionless on the field. Dixon was placed on a stretcher and lifted into an ambulance before the game resumed.During the injury, the entire crowd at Martin Stadium remained seated and nearly silent while medical staff worked to stabilize Dixon and load him into the ambulance. While Dixon was motionless on the field, a moment of a silence was held throughout the stadium. It was later announced through the stadium’s public address speakers that Dixon had been released from South Georgia Medical Center under his own power.

I am from Coffee but lives in the ATL area. I agree that the ajc is slanted towards the Atl area schools but it is the AJC so that understandable. But our guys Coffee County came up against a great team and didnt quit. We will be a team to look out for next year because we are a very young team in a new system. But South Ga will get its respect when the playoffs come around.

I was not impressed with Coffee coach. Players draggin in and out of huddle , plays coming in slow, and coaches staying on field being penalized finally also 12 men in huddle a lot and not being called all the time. Trojans do u know what a hurry up offense is when u are behind 4 td’s and do u even have a no huddle package. Coffee does have some good young players but not impressed with Pruitt’s offense when they got behind. Of course Camden’s #1, #4,#14,#16,#32,#47,#61,#68,#78,etc all back next year with Jr varisty, 9th grade, and middle school teams winning almost all games.

Camden middle schools and Camden’s future. I watched a punter/halfback pick up a bad punt snap in his own end zone and instead of falling on it for a safety run it all the way back for a touchdown. JJ and Btice may go but there are the youngsters just waiting to step up and take their place. O yea that player left everyone else on the field and it wasn’t because of poor tackling. Congratz to Camden for getting the win and for playing a great game. I still don’t understand the coaching at Coffee, why the hell do you keep running the ball up the middle and going 3 and out when Camden has no pass defense, yes, I know Camden had a pick 6 in the game by JJ Green, but over all Camden could not stop the pass, yet all Coffee did is run, and the whole Coffee football team is very undisciplined, 3 late hits, caught 4 times with 12 or 13 men on the field, I thought that coach pruitt was going to fix these problems but idk. With all this said, i als was at the colquitt and lowndes game last week. camden is goin to have trouble scoring on the vikings. They have the speed to match camden and they have some exceptional corners who play in your face. lowndes will prob beat us by two or 3 tds as well. I have seen many viking defenses through the years and the one they have this year is like the viking defesne of old. camden can be beat, not going to be easy, but i see them losing to either colquitt or lowndes with lowndes more so bc lowndes has a running game that even camden will not shut down. its going to be a good game, brice will not have long to stand in pocket, if so he will get sacked quickly, passing going to be hard to do on the vikings

If Malcolm Parrish of Brooks had moved only 20 miles east, no one would be able to stay on the field with Lowndes. History shows that McPherson is nearly hapless when it comes to developing a passing game. Some say it’s not needed when you can run like they run and play defense like they do. It will be needed against Camden and several quality North Georgia teams who have the bodies to shut down thier running game.

Sometimes high school coaches seem to adapt their offense to their perceived talents of their QBs. Cecil Flowe’s 46 game win streak at Parkview had a very good passing game. The current Parkview team doesn’t pass at all. Brookwood played Lowndes in 2005 and got killed, but could throw to only one receiver. Brookwood beat Colquitt for the State Championship completing only seven passes, but to seven different receivers. Same coaches, different QBs, adapting to the ability of their talent.

Trying to figure out what Camden game you were watching. No pass defense??? A pick 6, 2 sacks, 5 hurries and 7 knockdowns and 2 Interceptions. The two TDS were coverages blown by the same guy, and that will get corrected. Other than those 2 plays, the Coffee QB threw for about 70 yards and had a completion percentage of below 50%. Oh, one more thing, Coffee scored 6 points in the 2nd half, Camden scored 7 (Camden ran 6 plays in the third quarter, and scored on a 3 play drive to open the 4th quarter). Camden pretty much shut it down after hanging 32 points on them in the a quarter and a half unanswered!!! Also, Coffee scored 12 points on Camden, so did Beach!

When they lose a play off game to a Gwinnett school (Gwinnett is not Atlanta) they blame Atlanta for it’s news papers, refs, recruiting (keep in mind every school in Region 1 has an entire county of talented athletes to choose from). We also have four power house schools within 15 minutes travel distance between each other that we compete against. I still have a valid argument that Region 1 has an entire county of players to choose from. We also have to deal with new school openings that have taken players away from the better Gwinnett programs, but that is ok, we still find ways to win championships. My complaint is not with the Camden people. I met several nice Wild cat fans earlier this year at the dome. I would rather watch Region 16A highlights on Sportscenter, then the UGA highlights. I am actually glad I am a South GA football fan, watching them games are exciting and you never know who is going to win. Better than watching those North GA passing teams. That is worse than watching a tennis match on Novacain. The team whos defense doesnt show up losses by 5, because none of them has a defense. We also know how everything is skewed towards North GA football. The South has dominated football year after year but they loose one game and are out of the rankings until playoff. Teams like Grayson have one, just one undefeated season and loose to a non ranked team who finally scores their first touchdown. And are out of the ranking for one week, and never left the top ten according to GHSA, go figure. It really doesn’t matter becuase everyone knows that South GA football will always dominate, especially since we are know combined into one Region all because you all from the North wanted to try to make us small and insignificant. But as you will soon find out, that will be a huge mistake. I see an all Region 16A State Championship Game….

Again be the ugly bridesmaid? Remember we won the game last year and the championship. It was a great game and chalk that loss as a great game and get over it. You guys came into Grayson two years ago and beat us, but got blown out by Brookwood. By the way Region 1, Brookwood is less than 10 minutes away from Grayson. One School in Colquitt. Remember you guys are 0-2.

@ Camden74 == Let what go ? Wait my turn for what ? Don’t go elitist on me now. You have been doing so well. We will see you (or somebody) in the playoffs, providing you make it far enough to meet us because we will be there deep into the playoffs.

@ Camden74

Whatever you have to tell yourself to get yourself to sleep at night is fine with me. Trust me I’ve been kicked out of more games than you ever played in. I wasn’t a one trick pony. I played more sports than football.

last year grayson had points off of lowndes turnovers and the refs screwd lowndes out of 1 td also …sad thing is the ref threw the flag on that play after he signaled td………then he said there was holding……..no video evidence of holding at all…….adn even worse…the ref was from valdosta…….

grayson had the better team than lowndes last year…..but not by much

time will show anyone who thinks grayson is going to win it all…….bc they arent this year….

sportsnut……..You’re trippin over rankings, why? If Lovejoy is that good, they will make a statement in the playoffs! Keep in mind that Lovejoy hasn’t proven anything in the highest classification yet. Until they do, no one owes them respect. Lovejoy has to earn respect, until they do, wait your turn! :-)

newFlash…….That’s what you say, all talk! You probably are still having fantasies about strapping up for a game. Too bad your dreams didn’t come true. You have my sympathy. Anywho, when you learn something about playing the game, by all means speak up! :-)

Lovejoy is a good but they got to beat an elite team before they become an “elite” team

The only thing Lovejoy has proven to me is that they defeat the teams there suppose to and they lose to ranked teams….

@ Camden74 == Who’s trippin ? Just conversating like everyone else. Once again I feel the need to remind you and everyone else, NO ONE HAS PLAYED IN 6A BEFORE THIS YEAR. Need I also remind you that Lovejoy has played in the largest classification now for 7 of the past 10 years. You guy’s act as though this is our first Rodeo. @ bksmith14 == Hope we play you in the 2nd season. @ 5-Time == It has been a while since we played Lowndes. The outcome was very nice. 43-3, Lovejoy.

You girls in Kingsland are closer to Tampa, Orlando, & Jacksonville than Atlanta. Care to quess why no one covers you? Maybe Stars & Stripes will give you a write up.

To Gwinnettdad: Of course you are right. Good coaches adapt their offenses around available talent. The Lowndes program is the exception. They look for talent that will fit into their offensive preference. I’m convinced that if a true talent came along, they would still be primarily a running team. Pass completions seem serendipitous at best. Because they have no pass offense, their defense gets only minimal practice on pass defense. The only reason they are effective on pass defense is they have had a group of superior athletes who can apply pressure on the opposing quarterback, either sacking him or causing hurried throws which are prime for pick-offs.

Have to choose my words carefully these days. My post seem to be vanishing. Lovejoys only major accomplishment while in the largest classification was learning how to win. I will not preach any longer, not that this is what I think I have been doing. I will now sit back and wait and not worry. It is O.K. because I went through this last season. Trying to relay to the football world that Lovejoy belonged was a task that I let go once the playoffs started because I knew what was about to happen. Because they were a little unknown, people did not believe. Here we are again and the same attitude exist in a new year. I hope you make it to the Dome as I think Lovejoy has a great shot at being there. Good luck on tonight.
